5 Parks, 10 Days Midwest Advice
DILinator replied to LiftThrill's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
First off... So true! My thoughts mainly pertain to Cedar Point... If you're going to have FL+ for one day, and you're going for two days, both in the middle of the week, I don't think you really need to have any worries about getting to ride enough of whatever you'd want. Personally, if you were going for two days, I would have advised you to skip FL+ for either day, since two days, navigated properly, will be more than enough to enjoy the park. It sounds like you already bought them, however, so que sera sera... Others have mentioned it, but it's SO true, so I'll mention it again... Start at the back of the park, entering through the resort/Soak City entrance, and go hit up Maverick first. Get a couple of rides in on that, prior to park opening, and then work your way down Frontier Trail to Millennium Force. Assuming no delays in the opening of the coasters, you should be able to do at least one if not two rides on Maverick, and an MF ride, all by the 10:00 regular opening time! At that point, I would go around the bottom of the lagoon area (where Iron Dragon is), and around to TTD, so get in that line before it spirals out of control (and the ride inevitably breaks down.) After that, do Magnum, Gemini, and Mean Streak (if you're so inclined), and you'll have essentially hit all the larger coasters in the rear of the park in likely just a few hours. You're going to experience decent wait times given the fact that many schools will be out by then, but not epic waits like the weekends will provide. The key thing to note, is that all the front coasters are much more crowded first thing in the day, so avoid being up front early, on your non-FL+ day especially. Also, if you can handle waiting to ride Valravn until Day 2, I wouldn't recommend waiting in the inevitable 1 hour-plus lines for it the first day, if you'll be able to get on quickly with FL+ the next day. It dominates the skyline, and will be tempting you to ride it all day the first day, but I'd really focus on hitting the back coasters early that day, the shorter waits for the smaller front coasters later in the day, and then just use the FL+ to marathon Valravn, MF, Maverick, and TTD the second day, since you have it. Raptor and GateKeeper around dinnertime Day 1, should both be half hour or less waits, easily, even Day 1, so plan to hit those two then! Any other CP questions, or clarifications, feel free to ask! -

Count me in as another person who thinks a drop tower like Falcon's Fury would be the perfect addition for the next ride at Hersheypark! I also agree than an RMC of Wildcat, would be the best "addition" for their next coaster project! I love this park, definitely among my Top 5, and can't wait to make it back again! -

Having pointed that out, I will say that the following post "wins" the discussion, and is truly the bottom line of the whole matter... -

^I was wondering the same thing, as I will be going on Memorial Day for the first time in... a long time, maybe ever! I've always heard it was less crowded then, but have been skeptical... I guess I will see for myself in a few days! -

I've only heard of Dave Mira once and don't like the Price is Right. I don't think it's based on personal preferences There is a highly classified algorithm that Facebook uses to determine your personal trending topics (out of a large pool of possibilities), but your own activity on Facebook IS a part of it, to a certain extent at least.

I know I'm preaching against the grain, here, but seriously... If you want to enjoy CP immensely, and don't want to get your pocketbook cleared out, you need to come during the week (Not Fridays) in May! Without a Fastpass (which I abhor, for the record), I rode coasters at will, this past Thursday, racking up a crazy number of circuits on the biggest coasters, with very minimal waits! I'm heading out there again tomorrow, so I anticipate more of the same! It won't kill the kids to miss a few days of school, or your job to take a few days off (hopefully!), and experience CP the way it should be experienced: minimal wait times, maximum ride times, and NO stupid upcharge line jumping exploitation! Ok, now back to your regularly scheduled discussion of CP exclusively touting the need to use a FL+ there (which, in all honesty, you probably should if you want to have a good time and insist on going during the Summer, and on Weekends..!) -

Here's my take on the #Itllneveropen movement... It was pretty funny at first, but I do agree, it got a little played out along the line... Having said that, Guy's wit and humor that he added to many of his posts was always very well written, and enjoyable to read (IMO), so calling that "easy", is not really fair! As for Lightning Rod, it looks like the greatest thing ever made, just from that finish! Can't wait to check it out for Thrills in the Hills - whenever that is! (Oh, but the "Boat" thing in the CP thread was never really that funny, sorry... ) -
It's not about what is special to enthusiasts. It's about what wow's the guests. A vertical drop certainly qualifies as something that wows. ^This. Believe me, as somebody who interacts with "GP" FAR more than I do fellow enthusiasts (at least in real - non-internet life), I can assure you that I haven't seen many coasters elicit such a strong response of awe, and fear, like Dive Coasters do! TTD and Kingda Ka are the only other kinds I've seen people get quite as worked up over. A Dive Machine is a strong investment for any park - be it Knott's, or Silver Dollar City - if they want a marquee attraction that will get the normal, everyday park-goer's blood going, and excited for the new coaster. It's clear that Valravn has already been a bigger draw to the park early in the season than a lot of their more recent large coasters!

OP is 14 and still a kid in my definition. Still a good age to ride those kind of things and not be considered too weird, unless he admits the real reason he's riding it. Point taken. But if he's too tall to ride, even as a "kid" still, it'll require some sort of little kid recruitment, which is a little weird at any age... My suggestion to not even worry about it, due it its complete lack of anything approaching thrill or excitement, still stands! This is the position I'm in as well...

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Welcome to the Club of Fury-ous Bliss! -
It would be rather disappointing if MiA got another relocated roller coaster--not that I have anything against Time Warp in particular. The park already has a mediocre coaster lineup as it is, though.... You'll get no argument from me there! I'm just trying to keep expectations low, since CF has made it abundantly clear they don't give a rat's behind about what the people of Michigan want for the park, as long they're still bringing in the highest profit margins in the chain...

I wouldn't compare Sea World to Disney because they're so different, but if you're a big-time animal lover I don't think it's unreasonable at all to prefer Sea World. I love Sea World for the laid back atmosphere compared to the other Orlando parks, the great animal exhibits and shows and because Manta is probably Orlando's best coaster. Hulk says hi. Hulk isn't even the best coaster at IoA in my opinion!

Has anybody gone ON Memorial Day, in recent years? I haven't been then in forever, and I know Holidays can be hit or miss... I might go for the Sunday/Monday this year, however! -

Are there other markers with the same overlapping LC? Interesting It's for their new coaster next year, Lightning Chaser! Think people in the Midwest will be at all confused???
