  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBaTYBOiRcs Kids are so dumb.... Glad I never did anything on that level
  2. Well seeing as that is the idea behind that whole "airtime" sensation...
  3. Any day in the summer is a crap shoot! Best bet is to "risk" heading there when bad weather is in the forecast, and hope that you get a window of no rain....easy for me to say, as I'm only 20- 25 minutes from the park! Here's the bottom line for any visit/any day of the week to SFGA: - get your A$$ up early and plan on arriving to the parking lot between 9am- 9:15am - early arrival gets you through security fairly quickly, and thus be one of the first people in line to get into the park - once you are in the park, head left and go: Kingda Ka> Zumi> El Toro> Bizarro (it should be around 12pm at that point) - high tail it to the other side of the park and go: Batman> Nitro> Skull - at that point, have fun with the crowds! Do whatever it is you like to do.....and keep your expectations low (in terms of wait times) Also: - you'll get some feedback about "not missing" the Safari, however- you'll need close to 2 hours from start to finish- your call - if it wasn't "new for 2016," trust me- you wouldn't wait on line for The Joker for more than 15 minutes....it will have the longest line in the park (as it is new/advertised like hell), and not worth giving up on the other coasters I mentioned above Have fun...... How quickly do the lines form for Ka\Zumanjaro? TTD was "Meh+" for me. And drop towers kinda freak me out, so I'll probably poop myself if I do Zumanjaro more than once. I've seen you guys post about early AM marathons on Toro, and since I'm gonna be solo on Monday I'd like to take a crack at that. Am I fragging the rest of the day by trying for that instead of the two Intamins? I'd like to ride the Intamins once, but rerides on Toro are a much higher priority it seems....
  4. Honest question: Do your policies allow you to actually do anything to people that do this? If there is no penalty to breaking the rules, it's going to continue...
  5. SF has been keeping their investments much more economical as of late...
  6. Parks not handing out hookers and blow when a ride I want to ride has downtime
  7. Batman at SFGAm was the first invert, right? I guess I got that. Cedar Point's firsts are also pretty common: - Magnum XL - 1st Hyper - Millennium Force - 1st Giga - TTD - 1st Strata
  8. I'd go this Thursday. Saturdays in the back half of Summer are a train wreck at this park. Bad weather can be a savior, but obviously something that is an impulse decision.
  9. Could weight distribution be a factor as well? Or do the fins induce the same flipping no matter what?
  10. That's what I'd plan on... If it's better, more power to ya... 30 min or less is a pipe dream on Bull, Goliath, Superman, and Justice League. You may find it on Batman, Whizzer, X-Flight, and V2 under the right conditions. Viper & Eagle are the only coasters that would guarantee 30 min or less.
  11. Overall the strategies outlined would remain the same. Thursday should be lighter. JL will probably be 60-90 minutes throughout the day since it's the new hotbeds. Superman will probably be 45-75 min. and Bull will be 30-45. I'd probably skip out on a Flash Pass on Thursday. Friday should have more people.
  12. Cool thread. Don't know how I missed it thus far.
  13. My friend's brother who works for Dippin Dots Corporate said he heard in the quarterly conference call that it's hitting 151mph at the base of the drop now. Fastest in the world baby! But is it open?!?!?!
  14. I'll gladly trade our Midwest speed bumps for what you have in NC It's not Summit County, CO, but you could have it much worse, lol...
  15. Okie dokie. For starters, plan n getting to the park early. 9:30 - 9:45am will work for a 10:30am opening. You'll be able to enter Carousel Plaza before rope drop. From here you have two options: You can go right if you want Justice League (JL) or you can go left for Goliath. In both cases, you can proceed to the railroad bridge. That is where the rope drop will occur. Like I said earlier, I'm not sure how the GP is moving with JL open now. Personally, I think that you're stuck with a 60-90 minute line with either one after the opening rush, so pick your poison. If you go left, I've been able to knock out Goliath, X-Flight, and American Eagle within 30-40 minutes. I don't think that is possible with the JL, Raging Bull, Giant Drop cluster since the GP will be heavier on that block. Also, Eagle is NOT on Flash Pass, so consider this. After this, you can get your FP if you're gonna get one. I wouldn't buy in advance. Just base it on the crowd. If you went left you can start heading towards the front of the park. Walking towards the front from Goliath will take you past Batman, Vertical Velocity, both Log Flumes & Roaring Rapids (water rides if it's hot), and King Chaos (Top Spin). If you've made it this far w/o a FP, this is where you need to make your choice on getting one. This can be done on a moderate day by 1pm-2pm. Raging bull should be 45-75 minutes at this point and won't back down. Superman would be 60-90 as well, but does offer a Single Rider Line. The SRL can be as quick as a 1-3 train wait depending on operators ability to utilize it. Personally I've never had issue with it in Summer, but others have horror stories (like a lot of things with this park it seems). Justice League is probably 90+ minutes. From here you freestyle your day with a flash pass. JL and Goliath are platinum only, so expect to dedicate 3 hours to cover JL and a re-ride. With gold, just select Bull or Supes and then go wait in a shorter line like Demon, Viper, or Giant Drop. All of those should be 40 minutes or less... Then rinse and repeat till close. Anything you were looking for that I missed? These are my strategies. Your mileage may vary.
  16. Today, being Memorial Day, is the unofficial start to "Boating Season"... Tis time to "Boat on!" my friend!
  17. A Gold will get the job done with some strategy. Platinum will allow you to freestyle the day. The price difference would be something you would need to put a value on and make that decision on your own. Being a Wednesday, you may be ok without one. I'm a regular and don't buy FP, but I also pick my days. Justice League just opened, so we don't have a feel for how that line will play out. I'd imagine that draws most people at opening. That should leave Goliath & X-Flight with minimal lines at open compared to the last two seasons. Conversely, with Justice League just down the block, I think the AM marathon sessions on Raging Bull are done for the time being. What would your priorities be? Are you solo or with a group? I've come up with several different itineraries that have worked for friends, so just let me know what you want and I'll be happy to provide insight. Hopefully I'll be able to make the park tomorrow, so I can see how Justice League works throughout the day. That's the wildcard...
  18. Ok, so I got to eat park food for the day. It's disappointing, but it is what it is. Kinda wishing I sprang for a Gold Dining pass now seeing that 2 meals in-park would basically cover 3/4 of what the sale price was. And I still got to buy a sports bottle to boot
  19. More noob trip planning questions Looking like I'll be at the park Mon. June 13. I tried looking back on past trip reports for around this time and couldn't find any real patterns on attendance. I assume that is the first week area schools are out. Any guesses on park attendance? I'll be solo so I'd like to avoid flash pass, but if it's needed, I'll make it happen. Any rides "Platinum only"? Are Single Rider lines an option? How's SFGAdv's Rain Policy? I have the 12th as a backup plan but I'll likely be hungover as hell from the Copa America match the night before in Philly. Also it's a weekend Could also do Friday the 10th if the 12/13th are total washouts but that only happening if everything else is FUBARed. What is the area around the park like? I won't have a car so SEPTA/Uber will get me to/from the park. If I'm there before open, is there a place I can walk to to kill time and get food? Also I would prefer to ditch the park for lunch/dinner since I've had few positive interactions with SF food service. As always help us appreciated Thanks!
  20. Had two very unique beers last night... Basically it's a Blueberry Pancake in a bottle. Still trying to wrap my head around it... This is all kinds of awesome. It's a sweet "dessert" beer. Cinnamon is the main flavor but it blends very well with the vanilla. Highly recommend this if you come across it.
  21. Dining pass depends on if it's a "Gold" pass or not. Gold gets food at all parks.
  22. Thanks for the clarification guys... I just booked my hotel in Philly for all 5 days and will just try for the park on Sunday/Monday. I'll figure something out. Can't come this close and take a pass on a park of this caliber...
  23. Let me clarify: this will NOT be a 1 day travel ordeal. 6/12 would be Philly to NYC. Spend the late afternoon/evening doing NYC tourist stuff. 6/13 would be taking the bus to SFGAdv. 6/14 would be an early train to Philly from NYC to fly back home.
  24. I had a wrench thrown into my plans for my Philly trip and now I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the trouble to try and make SFGAdv on this trip... Here's the deal: I don't have a driver's license and my travel buddy might not be making the trip to Philly with me now. Originally we were gonna rent a car for a day or three, but now that's not possible if it's just me. I'm in Philly June 9-14. Main reason for the trip is the US Men's National Soccer Team's match on 6/11. I'll be staying in downtown Philly for this. I was looking at SFGAdv on 6/12 or 6/13. Philly seems to be about 90 minutes away from SFGAdv, so public transit/Uber/Lyft is out of the question, right? Now, I see that there is a bus to SFGAdv out of NYC. Has anyone utilized this? It's not ideal since I would lose the 1st and last hours in the park, but it might be all I got. I wouldn't mind spending 6/12-14 staying in NYC. AMTRAK runs between Philly and NYC for $80 round trip, so not bad. How reliable is AMTRAK between Philly and NYC? I fly out of Philly at 10am on 6/14 so I would need to catch a 5:30 or 6am train out of NYC. Is this asking for trouble with little fudge factor in regards to time on 6/14? At this point cost is only marginally increased by the NYC leg, but it will take some effort and that's where I have some trepidation. I want to add SFGAdv, but I also don't want to put myself in a situation where everything has to be perfect to pull it off... So thoughts? Am I insane for considering this
