  1. Just chilling at the hotel now, but I'm prepped to spend the day here at SFNE. 1st time venturing out of the Midwest for coasters, so giggity I am curious how crowds will be today since it's gonna be 90*F+. Gonna have to venture into a water park for the 1st time cause of that I think... Also get to check off several coaster 1st's today... Lots of new stuff for this theme park noobcake here today...
  2. A breath of fresh air for this thread. Might I add: You know when you are at a Six Flags park when an enthusiast in a queue line nitpicks and complains the entire wait about every small detail they find wrong with the park that they chose to visit. But they're never making that mistake again!
  3. I would have to think that RMC is knocking on this door if they are doing an original design ala Goliath... I don't think them going into the 200-225 ft. range is a stretch at all... But then again, it seems like they are doing more refurbishes for the next few seasons...
  4. I think they should be the first to go 5 feet on a coaster... Call RMC... They work miracles with limited vert
  5. Sounds like this may be an extended problem with Goliath... Others have posted that the train is still sitting on the lift hill, same place it's been since Thursday...
  6. 10-4 on that... It happens... Just looking for an edge, that's all... Figured I wouldn't get a response on it here, but it was worth a shot....
  7. Hey.. More questions regarding my trip at the end of July: - Would there be a major difference in park attendance between Mon. July 27 and Tue. the 28? We're doing a Red Sox game while in town and kinda want to do the Pedro Martinez H.O.F. night on the 28th... Could do the Monday game if that would help the SFNE side of things a ton though... - Buddy I'm going with is a GP'er... What is the cheapest option for tickets? Also, is Flash Pass absolutely needed? Buddy probably won't drop the $85 for a Platinum FP... Gold FP might be doable at $55. He wants to go to the park, but if costs might add up he might start thinking about it...
  8. Perfect example of abuse would be SFGAm's use of a single rider line on Raging Bull... You would walk up the Flash Pass lane and tell the Flash Pass person you were a single... They then let you merge with the regular line at that point... You could have 3-4+ people walk up, claim to be single riders, and bypass 90% of the line... after the merge, you were just another person in line... You could reform the group and go about your business...
  9. It is beneficial to capacity, but you also create problems with the GP... Mainly, they gripe and moan about people "cutting in line"... From there, you also have to monitor abuse of the line as well...
  10. It's interesting to read about this experience with Super 8... I've used them for a number of years throughout MI, MN, and WI without issue... The free breakfast and good rooms at a great price being the selling point... Like any chain, locations can differ, and your mileage may vary I guess...
  11. Good to know about the traffic... Just thinking about doing a White Sox/Red Sox game on the trip as well... That's why I was thinking about a Boston hotel... I assume that the drive between Boston and the hotels mentioned earlier would be doable late night (after the baseball game)... Is there any other touristy type stuff out by the park? As of now, the trip looks like this: Day 1: Arrive in Boston by early afternoon... Sox/Sox game in the evening... Drive to the hotel by the park (assuming a 90-120 min drive)... Day 2: SFNE.... Day 3: ??? Then fly out of Boston 6-7pm or later...
  12. Question for the locals: How is the drive to the park from Boston? Happened to stumble across dirt cheap airfare from Chicago to Boston, so thinking of a 3-4 day trip out to New England... Last week of July is the target... Just working on logistics at this point... Not sure if I want to do a single hotel in Boston, or do a hotel in Boston and one in Springfield...
  13. Viper @ SFGAm... Should have went today with the cool weather and rain... Would have been empty...
  14. There is a CP/KI combo ticket offered at each park for $65... You get a voucher for one day at each park... That will be your best option there...
  15. Probably under an hour to start the day... 90-120 minutes for the remainder...
  16. Your group will be considered as a whole... You all will have the same reservation times... That means you only get one reservation at a time... Your group will get one reservation on Goliath... No other rides are limited on the amount of times you can use the Flash Pass... YOU'll be fine with an out of state license... It's just a clunky way to word things...
  17. I'm also curious about the intamin inverts. The discussion is around problems with Possessed at Dorney so maybe a quick internet search will clear that up. I know V2 at SFGAm is down too right now. Not sure about the California one though. Um, I rode v2 yesterday with no issue... Might want to check your sources...
  18. Was out at the park this afternoon... Very light crowds.... Everything was a walk-on except for Goliath... Goliath was 45 min, even during the Season Pass ERT.... Got to ride in fog for the 1st time... Pretty cool experience on Giant Drop....
  19. Actually I was going to mention that American Eagle and X-Flight can both be walk ons for the first 45 minutes or so of the park being open.... They will fill in after people get done with Goliath however...
  20. For general reference, the 3.5 inch limit is what most entertainment venues use to define "professional" camera equipment...
  21. For the math people here, it would be easy to check if it's a 45* angle... The lift would climb one foot vertically for one foot traveled horizontally... Just take a photo and compare the distances...
