  1. Granted, but they're Wacky Worms. I wish that I wouldn't age.
  2. Granted, but the house is old, the shower sucks, and there's rats all over the place. I wish I could go to Japan.
  3. August 16, 2014. When was the last time you went to an arcade?
  4. If theme park refers to home park, then there's a lot of stuff. The Adventuredome is conveniently located in the Circus Circus hotel. It's within walking distance of all of the Strip attractions, like the Fashion Show Mall, the Bellagio fountains, and more. I only walked along the center of the strip, however, so I don't know how long it will take to walk to all of the main attractions.
  5. Great update as always! I hope to see many innovations in the 1980's and beyond!
  6. Sierra Mist, complete with that strange Pepsi aftertaste!
  7. Hi there! Did anyone of you feel the earthquake on Sunday at 3 AM? I didn't, but apparently my mom did.
  8. Granted, but instead, your head hurts. I wish I could travel more often.
  9. That's good to know. Perhaps I should tell my parents to take me to that restaurant the next time we go to SoCal... ----- It was time to head back to Vegas! The trip was excellent, and I honestly didn't want to leave SoCal. Oh well. Here's my report! It's time for us to leave the Hilton. First stop, Atlantic Time Square in Monterey Park. There's a Daiso here with little people. There's also dim sum. Yum. Wing Hop Fung, home to ginseng that's "good for health". Here's the interior. Some random place my dad wanted to stop at. Furniture. On the I-10 to Covina and Ikea. Ikea, home to cheap furniture and cheap food. It's the Ikea BookBook! They have what I call "miniature houses". Cowhide. Interesting! Ikea makes batteries? This is where people pick up their furniture parts. Fish and Ikea's special juice. It was similar to a frozen dinner. The interior of the cafe is simplistic. Next stop, the 85. This is some kind of funky fountain. Squid ink pastries? Mango pastry. After a whole lot of nothing, we're at Primm. Either the sign was fixed or I'm looking at the wrong side. Epic sunset. Finally, I leave you with a picture of the In-N-Out at the I-215 and Eastern. Burger with chopped chilies for me, please! Well, there you have it! This was my complete report of my trip to Knott's Berry Farm and Los Angeles County. I had a fun time at Knott's and explored some pretty cool places. Next time, I will be visiting the Adventuredome sometime in December. Until then, this is Kevin, signing off.
  10. Thanks for the great feedback! I can assure that there will be more great things to come at Topaz Park. For example, the following trip report: ----- July 1986 Finley Paterson, Resident I love Topaz Park. The coasters there are great and the food is awesome. Last year, I found out that they sell season passes, which are convenient for me because I no longer need to buy paper tickets. It was a nice day in Salt Lake City, so I took the one hour drive to the middle of nowhere, just so that I can have fun by myself. Last year, the park built a new entrance. I like this a lot more than the old, brick one. The design of Skydive looks quite strange, but it is very iconic. The queue for Twisted Beehive is now covered by this glass dome. The line was surprisingly long! This coaster is usually not very popular. New for this year was Troika. It was a fun ride, but I found it to be too similar to the Lake Topaz Twister. The Rotor was operating when I took this photo, but it then broke down. The Rocky Mountain Elk is now just The Elk. It's a much more simplified name if you ask me. Sink! is the icon for the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk seems a bit neglected today. I wonder why... No trip to Topaz Park is complete without a honey slush! It's just yummy. The line for The Gull wasn't as long as the other coasters. Maybe people find it to be too intense. It would be great if the park adds some kind of transportation system, because the walk from the Forest to the Boardwalk is a bit long. I really enjoyed myself during this visit! Sure, it's no Disneyland, but the price is fair and there's lots of things to do. Plus, I really like their honey slushes and coffee drinks. I am glad that Topaz Park is pretty close to me.
  11. When I think of an unnecessarily long queue, I immediately think of Jaguar! I've never seen the line fill up to the first floor and I only saw people waiting at where the ramps are once. However, I give props to the Knott's family for theming the queue to an ancient temple. It looks pretty great. The second ride I can think of is Bigfoot Rapids. There's just too many stairs and ramps before guests enter the switchbacks.
  12. I took a hiatus in 2011. This was the only year my family didn't visit Knott's.
  13. All right, time to bump this thread once again. After leaving Knott's, our family went north to Los Angeles County. Here's my report! But, before I do that, here are my favorite coasters at Knott's. 10. Timberline Twister - I didn't ride this kiddie coaster this year, but I did last year. It's rough. 9. Coast Rider - It's a fun coaster, but offers little in thrills. 8. Jaguar! - A pretty long kiddie coaster. 7. Boomerang - It's a Vekoma. 6. Pony Express - Probably the most underrated coaster at the park. 5. Sierra Sidewinder - For a kiddie coaster, it's pretty intense! 4. GhostRider - Rough, but fun. 3. Silver Bullet - Overrated. 2. Montezooma's Revenge - Good old classic fun! 1. Xcelerator - No question. Time for lunch! This is Din Tai Fung, which is a well known Chinese restaurant in Arcadia. The wait was a bit long, though, so we stopped at the Phoenix restaurant next door. Dumplings! These are xiaolongbao, also known as "juicy dumplings". I also had a spicy beef soup. This is the Hilton at San Gabriel. Parking is underground. The lobby looks promising. Fake flowers! Inside room 426, I think. Pretty nice furniture. Toilet shot. This is a pretty decent pool area! I don't know the exact name of this mall, but it was nearby the Hilton. They've added a Daiso this year, which is a Japanese chain of dollar stores. Um... So these packets of Hi-Chew may cause cancer? The stores are now closing. It's time to go! By this time, my phone was almost dead, so I didn't take any photos. During that time, our family made a visit to some B-rated seafood restaurant. It was decent. After that, we came back to the Hilton and watched some Food Network. Coming up next, IKEA and back to Vegas.
  14. November 1985 Carl Anderson, Public Relations for Topaz Park It's been another successful year for Topaz Park! Thanks to our partnerships and advertising, we now have more visitors. Attendance increased 5% this year compared to 1984. I think it is safe to say that Topaz Park is truly Utah's family park. We have some pretty exciting news for the 1986 season. Topaz Park is ready to reveal a new ride for the "forest" section of our park. Built by HUSS of Germany (the same company that built Ocean), we are ready to reveal... Concept art for Troika Troika Troika means "set of three" in Russian, and this ride stays true to its name. Troika will have three sections of pods, with each section having several of them. The pods are colored red, yellow, and blue, and are designed like cars. Concept art for one set of pods. Troika will be a fabulous ride for both kids and adults. Similar to Lake Topaz Twister, Troika twists riders all around. What makes this ride different, however, is the fact that the sets of pods will actually raise above the floor, which makes the ride more dizzying. Concept art for Douglas Go-Karts. Also new for 1986 is the Douglas Go-Karts. Using the same track from our Bee Karts ride, we've replaced the karts and added road signs to add to the fun.
  15. Now you're making a knockoff Arrow loopscrew, huh? It actually looks like a legit knockoff! I like it.
  16. Beautiful! This ride obviously took a lot of effort. In fact, it might be better than some of the parks on this thread! I love it.
  17. Ah, that boxy B&M track. The colors look quite nice in real life.
