  1. Cedar Fair won't buy it....they just bought the entire Paramount chain. They're not completely stupid, and they must have learned from Six Flags' mistakes of the late 1990's.
  2. I'm not surprised at all here. I just hope that IF some of the parks are sold, they're not shut down as Astroworld was. I'd really hate to lose my homepark.
  3. Six Flags Darien Lake is my homepark. It's not much but I still love it. S:ROS and Viper are my favorites, I just hate Predator.
  4. I feel so bad for that mother. She was obviously in some degree of shock. I'm sure she believed that the ride was safe, as the state said it was. I don't think you can blame her, but I don't think you can blame the ride-op's either. Both mother and ride-op were going by what the state declared safe. I'm just thinking that it may be time for some new laws and restrictions. There's no telling how mature a six year old will be on a ride, so maybe some age laws should be added as well as height. Must be _ years old and _'' tall. Something like that maybe.
  5. Both. I love positive G's, they make the ride far more intense. The Vertical loops on Vekoma Boomerangs, for example, are very intense. Batman the Ride, too. I also like hangtime, but only if it's done right. Viper at SFDL's corkscrews come to mind. I don't like the nut-busting SLC hangtime, or when it's on a launched coaster, it makes me nervous then.
  6. I guess Dragon Mountain. It was my first coaster, so it holds a special place in my heart anyway. A lot of pointless meandering around, but the last inversions really do take you by surprise, and they put a nice twist on the usual "Arrow Boomerang", making it exit the maneuver in the same direction as when it entered. (As opposed to Vortex, Viper, Other Viper, and GASM).
  7. Hershey, but it's one of my favorite parks overall, not just in PA. That park just has one of those feels to it, with the chocolate theming. I'm not sure if they even still do this, but when I went, the height was measured in different hershey products. I was a "Twizzler", which allowed me to ride anything I wanted, other than a few Kiddie Rides. I was only nine, and that Boomerang was the scariest coaster they had.
  8. ^^^It's more than for the credit. Some of them can be decent rides, so it really is worth it to ride more and see if they're good or not. I've only been on one that I didn't like, and it's gone, so I guess I don't hate any. I'm going to CP this summer, and i'll have five new Arrow credits when that trip is over. Maybe i'll like them, maybe I won't. We'll see. Gemini looks great! Magnum looks like it might let me down! I can't wait to try them.
  9. I love SFDL's Viper, and I like Dragon Mountain at Marineland, as well as Demon at SFGam. I even mildly enjoyed Dragon Fire at PCW. But Shockwave at SFGAm was just brutal. I remember thinking it looked a lot like SFDL's Viper, therefore assuming i'd enjoy it, but I was so wrong. Every single turn on that ride caused my head to slam into the OTSR. I did like the first drop, and the drop off of the mcbr, which hurt, but was cool at the same time. I can see why it was removed. It also took up a rediculously large amount of space, SFMM's Viper proves that wasn't necessary.
  10. I love the sound of Arrow lift hills and brake runs. I also love the sound of Intamin Hypers on their first drops.
  11. I like most B&M restraints, they're very comfortable and don't get in the way. I don't like the Intamin ones on S:ROS because they crush certain areas.....and I hate Arrow and Vekoma's 80's trains so much, not just the restraints.
  12. I've done Viper at SFDL over 20 times in a day, many of the rides being consecutive. I love that coaster, but I hate how there aren't any shortcuts for the queue. It was a dead day, but that doesn't stop Viper from running two trains.
  13. It's probably very difficult to keep the thing running, especially for Six Flags. I really hope they send it back to Germany and let it get back on the fair circuit.
  14. I definitely say Silver Comet at Martin's Fantasy Island, and the Jack Rabbit at Seabreeze. While I really did enjoy Comet at HP and American Eagle at SFGAm, that was back when I was a little kid so I really don't know how they are now.
  15. I voted yes. If a park lacks themes, it should at least have scenery like plants etc. SFDL has almost no theme to it at all, but it does have nice flowers and trees, so it's not completely unpleasant. The coasters are all decently placed, either by water or with trees and other plants. In other words, no real theming, but nothing looks out of place (no parking lot coasters). SFGam was almost perfect looking ,but Shockwave was stuck outside of the park in a parking lot. I love SFGAm for landscaping under there when S:UF was put in. I'll have to get back there soon. I think it's pathetic when a park slaps a coaster in a parking lot just for the sake of having another coaster, and doesn't even cover the parking lot. (I'm not just talking about Scream....though that one really does come to mind easily)
  16. I think Millennium Force only has 4.5. I've always found Boomerangs to be intense, and if you're lucky enough to have a smooth one, they're actually decent rides. SFDL's is the park's smoothest coaster (MAYBE tied with S:ROS, but that's getting an unforseen "Intamin Rattle" to it). I always grey out in the loop going backwards. Really, Just because a ride has been cloned 40+ times doesn't mean it has to be terrible.
  17. You always do such great PTRs. This one was awesome too! That's awesome that they got Legend up and running too. I really need to get out to Holiday World and ride some good wood coasters for a change. (I haven't been on one that I could call good since Wild One and Roar! back in '04)
  18. I never realized this but I don't have a problem with many of the ones i've been on. RRC at MGM is really smooth. SFDL's Boomerang is really smooth too, and the train is actually very padded. I loved Batwing at SFA, that one is probably my favorite. I guess the only ones I've been on that I don't like are the SLC's, which i've found very rough.
  19. Viper at SFDL on the MCBR....it halts to a complete stop before rolling off the brake. Mind Eraser at SFDL on the first brake run.
  20. Chiller won't hurt though because there are no shoulder restraints, just lap bars.
  21. I've always thought Arrow suspendeds were messed up. They're either sinfully short, or have two lift hills. They're also not rough the same way other Arrows are.
  22. I wouldn't worry about Nitro being dangerous....you're locked in pretty safely, and it doesn't go upside-down. If it was unsafe, they would close it down. Great American Scream Machine is one i'd watch out for. I've been on it's twin Shockwave in Illinois, and it was very rough and jerky. You may just want to skip this one until you've conquered the smoother rides in the park. It does have shoulder restraints, but they cause so much pain to your entire upper body. I'd start off with the Mine Train if you're really scared.
  23. 18, Mine was Marineland's Dragon Mountain when I was seven.
  24. I've seen six on SFDL's S:ROS. With a one train operation too. Then on Predator, there were four, with a one train operation. At one point, they all left the station to go tend to an un-injured bird sitting on the exit ramp.
  25. It's funny how GASM used to be considered so huge when now it looks so old and rickity on GAdv's skyline. Great Pic.
