For Xmas I bought myself and my fiancee 6F season passes. She did not have one last year but since I had to buy the two 2015 passes in order to get the cheap ass discount, I grabbed one for her figuring if she goes once its paid for, not to mention I plan to go a bunch so I'll definitely get my monies worth. The reason I mention this is after I gave her the pass, we were talking about how its actually kind of nice that the park is getting something smaller in 2015 that will not cause as much of a buzz and attract a ton of people who go just for the new, flashy big thing the park just got. Also, I live an hour from the park and consider it my home park, but I'm also an hour from Dorney, two hours from Hershey, Knoebels, Moreys, Coney/Luna, and 2.5 hrs from SFA. While none of those parks are getting a "big deal" ride for 2015, I'm most excited for GAdv to open in April. Why? El Toro, Nitro, Zumanjaro, Sky Screamer, Ultimate Flight, KK, Batman, Bizarro, Skull Mountain, the Safari, the water rides, etc etc etc etc etc. Would I love a new giga? Sure! But my point is: the park, while, as mentioned, could use some infrastructure improvement and whatnot, boasts a pretty amazing collection of rides. We really don't *need* a big new ride right now to compete with the other regional parks. There is still a buzz re: Zumanjaro around these parts. I see the new addition as a way for one of the chains flagship parks to hold back this year and invest in something "next level" within the next few years. (I am hoping for and predicting a custom RMC ala Goliath in 2016 but if that doesnt happen its fine because we still have El Toro)

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
boldikus replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Another thing I meant to mention in the above post is that I'm not surprised people aren't *really* following construction on this like they are with some of the other 2015 coasters. I mean, as unique as the concept is, its a mouse in a box. Not only is it not generally as interesting to most as a larger construction project like Fury or Thunderbird, there isnt going to be all that much to see other than the box going up, unless there are folks that get to go behind the scenes once track and whatnot starts going in. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
boldikus replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I personally think its a good addition to the park. While I'd like to see some adult flats like a great drop tower or screaming swing, and I'm not a fan if spinning mice, I dig the kitchy concept for Laff Trakk, even the name. If the effects are done right it should be a very interesting ride and it fits into that area perfectly. During a moment of boredom at the office yesterday I ventured back through this thread to when Skyrush was under construction and its interesting to see peoples then speculation and feelings of what the ride would be like, and all of the comparisons/contrasts to I305, especially now that Skyrush seems to generally be considered one of the most intense/best coaster experiences on the planet. -
I guess it isnt something I really think of but Im going with marathoning whatever we are close to that we like before close. Thinking back it always seems to happen that way. If I'm at GAdv, and it usually is, its usually Toro or Nitro a few times before we leave. At Hershey it was a few final laps on Skyrush, @ Dorney it was Talon, and Ride of Steel @ SFA like 5 times in a row before we left. However, I do kinda have a ritual upon arrival @ GAdv, I always go to El Toro and ride it a bunch first thing in the morning as a line never forms until at least a half hour to an hour after the park opens because everyone goes toward S:UF and KK/Z:DOD. There is nothing like a back car/magic seat ride on Toro as a first ride of the day - wakes you right up! Also because rides later in the day are that much better after riding it in the morning when its just warming up.

Also mild claustrophobia here and then a really random and unreasonable fear of being poked in the eye by tree branches LOL. Anyone Ive told makes fun of me, I don't know where it comes from but its a very real (albeit weird and funny) phobia I've always had.

^^ I wouldn't say her lyrics are really deep, but the songwriting is typically strong and I enjoy most of her music. She has a pretty cruddy voice when she sings live (as evidenced by her horrific debut on SNL a few years ago, and many other live youtube clips), but on tape I like her a lot, especially the newest album - the country-stoner-rock vibe suits her well. As long as her producers dump loads of reverb on her voice it sounds great.

Who makes the best Lemon-Lime Soda?
boldikus replied to tarheel1231's topic in Random, Random, Random
THIS. I really stopped drinking soda almost completely a couple years ago, now I'll have it a couple times a year (usually with pizza, its the only time I really crave it lol) but when I do have it its always Sprite, or Sierra Mist if there is no Sprite to be had. However, my other half would shrivel up and die if there was no more Mountain Dew on this spinning rock. -
Ive been a casual fan for years, even saw them live a few years ago with a buddy, but that new album is insanely good. Ironically, my favorite song on it is "Ride".

Interpol @ Union Transfer, Philly Dec 1st 2014. My fave band, 7th time I've seen them and just as good as the first.

Embarrassed of parks...
boldikus replied to outbackjack's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not embarrassed at all, I'm sure some people think I'm a big geek but everyone has their interests, hobbies, and things they get really into that most people don't care for. I fly my enthusiast flag high for anyone that will let me ramble on about my obsession. Most family and friends are quick to forward me articles/links about rides since they know I'm into it. (I can't tell you how many messages I got once the polercoaster was officially announced!) That said, its frustrating talking to GP folks I know who think they are knowledgeable/correct about stats and whatnot and you know they are wrong. On the flip side of that, I'm lucky to have grown up in a family of casual riders who are not into it like me but we spent most summers in Wildwood/@ Moreys', and they will do most rides, and are somewhat interested when I start to blab about technical stuff. In addition, one of my good lifelong friends and also my bro-in-law are mildly interested in following new construction, etc and like to go to parks pretty regularly with me so I have them to talk to and send stuff back and forth about. My employer also appreciates coasters and rides so he's always asking me about parks I go to and rides I've done (and doesn't mind me taking off if he knows this is what I'm doing, which is great!). -
When she's rapping, I think she's completely awesome. ^^ Her poppy/club stuff, not so much. Her verse on Kanye's "Monster" is just about the greatest ever.

^^ Seems like they are installing Kong as the centerpiece of the new flying scooters. I am actually in Wildwood a good bit off season but haven't gotten down yet since the piers closed in September. -
TOP 5 B&M INVERTED COASTERS
boldikus replied to CoasterExpert13's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I regretfully have only ridden 3 so far, but Id rate them: 1. Talon 2. Batman (GAdv) 3. Great Bear I like all of them, and would like to ride all the others.
