  1. Stampida - For the love of god, get rid of those KumbaK trains, they are almost lliterally killing the ride.
  2. I can't quite remember what my first coaster was, but I can narrow it down to 2. It was either Tami-Tami at Portaventura or the Grand National al PBB.
  3. Probably either Furius Baco, Nemesis or The Swarm (depending on where I go first in 2014)
  4. There's actually one of those at PortAventura here in Spain.
  5. Seeing that picture makes me realise how big a drop oblivion really has. I mean, seeing the small bit of Oblivion sticking out of the ground makes it hard to believe the drop is almost as tall as Sheikra.
  6. You say that... (but) ... for the truly daring designers that want to go all out, NoLimits 2 features just about every frame rate saving feature you could ask for. For instance you can add LODs that you've created to scenery object files so that the further away you are the simpler their geometry gets. You can set the clipping distance for individual objects so that they won't be rendered until you're within a specific range. You can even create occlusion areas/zones of any shape and size; this is useful for preventing exterior objects from being rendered when you enter a building, or for block rendering of large exterior scenes where distant objects are mostly occluded by closely spaced buildings. So it is possible to create massive sprawling high fidelity parks and not tank your frame rate. Of course it is up the to the designer to employ these techniques. We're working on tutorials for these advanced features to help the community build bigger and bigger parks. Does this mean you could also turn the 3D "steps" on the wooden catwalks to a 2D image (like how they were in NL1)? As I see them being the main killer of FPS in NL2. for people not wanting to upgrade PC's.
  7. Rammstein. They are also the only band I would almost literally drop everything I was doing just to go see them live given the opportunity.
  8. I'm really looking forward to this game. My favorite thing to do in RCT/2/3 was actually making parks more so than managing parks, and since this looks much better than RCT3 this is perfect. The one thing that really "irks" me about this game is the roller coaster creator in the trailer. The X-celerator recreation for example looked really pumpy and rough, is this just because it was quickly thrown together for the trailer or is it actually possible to make smooth rides ala Nolimits with a bit more time? Also, has it been said how much space the is for making the park yet? like is there a fixed size the park can be, or can it get as large as you want?
  9. I can generally listen to anything, but mostly prefer metal, specifically: Neue Deutsche Harte (My preferred sub-genre): Rammstein, Megaherz, Oomph! Groove Metal: Lamb Of God, Pantera, Machine Head, Five Finge Death Punch Thrash Metal: Metallica, Bullet For My Valentine Alternative Metal: Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park Industrial Metal: Korn (Untitled era), Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie J-Metal: Utsu-P, Caz, Yuyoyuppe
  10. This might be it . . . Watch the rider's necks when the car goes down the first drop. So yeah . . . SBF gets my vote; I can't imagine how awful the knock-offs must be. When I saw that type of ride in RCT3 for the first time I just thought it was in the game just because they couldn't make a good looking eurofighter style ride. I couldn't believe it was an actual ride when I came across that video for the first time.
  11. Portaventura did a good job overlapping those two roller coasters I think the best part of shambhala is how it almost acts as a backdrop for the China area (shambhala as the himilayan mountains to China).
  12. Dragon Khan back in 2007. They were running 3 trains on the day, the ride ops seemed to be having trouble with one of the trains in the station, I was in another train waiting about half way down the ending brake run and the third train was running through the first half of the track. At one point I look around and happen to see the 3rd train sail right through the MCBR and I swear we got a slight nudge from the 3rd train as it came into the end brake run.
  13. It's a tie between Dragon Khan and Shambhala at Portaventura. Shambhala because it's just so smooth and it was my first hyper, and Dragon Khan because it's just a good old classic B&M.
  14. Wow. "Ever wanted to give your customers whiplash? Order now and get an additional roll of duct tape".
  15. Not so much the station, but the "cattle grid" queues at Portaventura during the summer months. Every time I've been to Portaventura during the summer months, the queues have just been unbearably hot, sticky and smelly in the Spanish heat. It can't cost much to just put an AC unit in the queue section (or maybe there is and I've just been unlucky every time).
  16. Stampida: remove the KumbaK trains and put the old pre-2007 trains back on.
  17. Hi, I'm Alex and I'm from Wales, but currently living in Mallorca, Spain. I've been a long time lurker in the site and forums and just recently decided to sign up. I've been interested in coaster for the most of my life after growing up playing a ton of Roller Coaster Tycoon, but I really started getting more into it around about 2004/2005 when I started reading up things about coasters online. The closest thing to a home park I've got is Portaventura which is about a 30 minute flight away on the peninsula. Aside from coaster, I also enjoy Gaming, working, sleeping and pretty much anything music related (playing instruments, listening to music, festivals, ...). I hope to get to know all of you, have a great time doing so.
  18. It's me on the front row at Download Festival back in June.
  19. I personally prefer the good old vertical loop just because it's the only type of inversion that gives that perfect hang time at the top where the sensation of being upside down actually hits you (seeing the whole world upside down while still having some positive G's that makes it feel like you're still standing the right way up).
  20. About a month ago now, it was Avenged Sevenfold with Five Finger Death Punch and Avatar as supports. Really enjoyed them. Biggest surprise came with Avatar, since I listened top some of their stuff before the show and thought they were terrible, but they really surprised me and put on an amazing show. Next show is Download Festival next year unless a band I like announces some dates in spring next year.

  22. Shambhala at Portaventura. The park closed at 11 that day so I made sure it was my last ride of the day in the black of night.
  23. I'm fine with most rides at parks, but there is one thing that just sends a surge of fear and arenaline through me every time. That "kchunk" and moment of weightlessness on drop towers just as it let's go of the gondola.
  24. Mallorca, Spain And I'm not just saying that because I live there. There was originally plans a good few years ago for a park to be built here, but nothing ever came of it.
