  1. I really liked Gwazi a lot in it's first couple of years of oepration, it was such a fun unique ride at the time and was really good! But yeah it gre to be pretty unbearable over the years. Hopefully whatever they do with that large chunk of land will be amazing, all of BGT's ercent projects have been fantastic so I'm sure whatever it is will be on par.
  2. I usually don't end up buying them because I try to go on days that aren't crowded and try to always arrive early. I've found that if you are at a park when it opens you can usually ride most of the major attractions within the first hour and a half before the crowds get there. Especially with the Halloween events, you can usually get through the majority of the houses in the first couple of hours before it gets really crowded if you are there when they open the gates. Horror Nights used to offer a ticket option where you could get into the Studios park around like 4pm then stay in the park in a gated off section and wait for the Horror Nights event to open. I did that for a few years and was able to ride most of the major rides in the studios before the park closed, then get through 4 or 5 houses while the waits were still short. With that being said if a park is crowded or it's a new park and I only have one day and I want to be sure I can ride everything I absolutely buy one. And I think it's great that most parks are starting to offer the service even if it is for an additional (sometimes excessive) charge.
  3. Nice to see Beech Bend is adding some quality flats. Yeah that's the feel of the place but in a way it kind of works for them. I love Beech Bend and feel like it's a great little regional park for what it is. I'd love to see them add another coaster in the future.
  4. When we checked out the event in Orlando a few weeks ago I had no idea that there was a line for the snow play area, when we entered the building we just walked up to the edge of the snow are and set our daughter over the edge to play around before we realized there was an hour long line to get into the snow, haha. I felt kind of bad but I don't think i was the only one who made that mistake (hey at least we weren't intentionally skipping the line, honestly!) Looks like a great event and I'm glad the Frozen stuff has a presence at the California parks, anything related to that movie just seems to have a different kind of presences in the parks.
  5. Yeah, the playoff is a lot of fun, about 2 months ago I thought Oregon was gonna win the whole thing and that might still be true. I'll be pulling for the Ducks, Quack Quack! Is Oregon the least unlikeable team in sports? I mean it's hard to find a reason to not cheer for them, even within the Pac-12 conference I can't imagine there's a lot of old fashion hatred towards them by anyone except Oregon State. They're just a really fun team to watch play. In the past I've thought they haven't been as good up front as the Alabama's and LSU's and Auburn but they've got some talent in the trenches these days, certainly not as soft as they used to be.
  6. This thing looks great, just curious but does anyone know if this model is any larger than the previous versions? Maybe it's just me but it looks much larger in the pictures? Also, has BGW made an official announcement about the ride yet? Seems odd not to announce it this late in the year (maybe I missed that too).
  7. I loved Gwazi in it's first couple of years but yeah recently it was pretty brutal, even with the trains. I always hated waiting for that ride because of thir operations policy to check all the seat belts first then to re check the lap bars, a station wait always felt like it took forever. BGT's last couple of installations (Jungala, Falcons Fury, Pantopia, Cheetah Hunt) have all been spectacular so I'm excited to see what they do with the space. That park always felt kinda weird to me with the huge chunk of open land in the middle, maybe they'll find a way to connect the front of the park to the Stanleyville area.
  8. I had a trip to San Antonio planned for Christmas this year but wound up gong to Nashville instead, but the it looks like they do a great Christmas event. These parks in Texas really are high on my list to get back to one of these days. Between the Justice League, Texas Giant, IRat, and the new Batman ride there are some major newish attractions in that area that I need to check out.
  9. SeaWorld has always done a nice job with their Christmas event and this year looks to be no different. I hope I have a chance to get down and check it out at some time.
  10. I'm gonna go with Raptor Montu Batman Dueling Dragons Alpengeist I've always thought Raptor was underrated, that thing was always great every-time I rode it.
  11. The Critter Castaway show was always a lot of fun but never seemed to draw very big crowds (at least whenever I was there). I'm sure whatever they replace it with will be fantastic like their other recent additions.
  12. SeaWorld Orlando is offering Buy One Get One free annual passes to SeaWorld and Aquatica online today only as part of their Blue Friday promotion. It's a great deal if you live in the area or know you will be visiting in the next year. Here is the link.... http://seaworldparks.com/en/seaworld-orlando/book-online/tickets/blue-friday-2014/florida-market/?utm_source=Silverpop&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=00434379.2014.SWF.BlueFriday.Email3.FLRES.&utm_content=DIGITAL&spMailingID=7317099&spUserID=ODUzMzY5MTQzOTES1&spJobID=580058227&spReportId=NTgwMDU4MjI3S0
  13. I've always thought it would be great to see this ride updated with new modern movie scenes and interactions but updating it to feature more classic movies is a brilliant idea and I love the idea of TCM featuring classic Disney programming. Seems like the sponsorship really makes sense for both parties involved here. Since it seems like the Shawshank Redemption is on every night maybe we'll get an Andy Dufrene prison escape scene .
  14. You nailed it. Just look at Thunderbird's logo for confirmation. I kind of like "Sasquatch of the Sky", just theme the trains to gigantic Flying Sasquatches and have rand Sasquatch animatronic sightings throughout the layout. Paula, I love the Thunderbird theme and back story but is it too late to change everything about the ride and go with "Sasquatch of the Sky" instead? No? Okay........
  15. Those look really good, seems like whenever I'm in the mood ft make Mexican food at home I just end up making tacos or grilling quesadillas, enchiladas never come to mind but I may have to try this instead next time.
  16. I'm slightly confused by the concept but it does look like a lot of fun. I wonder if there will any kind of a holding brake in the circuit to allow the track switch mechanism to cycle over? I guess if there's only one train it's not a big deal but seem like from an operations safety stand point you would need to have the ability to hold a train in the event of the switch mechanism not operating properly. I love the short trains though, I've always thought that shorter trains feel faster and more out of control. My dream ride is a 200 foot tall coaster with a single wild mouse style car, that would feel insane.
  17. Yeah, go see Book of Mormon if you have a chance, it's incredible. I just bought tickets for the tour stop in Jacksonville yesterday, and might try to pick up lottery seats for a second performance when it's in town.
  18. I've always thought Disneyland Paris looked like a great park with a pretty solid collection of unique and classic rides. I know Space Mountain is regarded as one of the "worst" mountains out there but other than that it seems like DLP never gets the love that the other Magic Kingdom properties of the world do. Great report by the way, it's been a lot of fun following these.
  19. This place looks fantastic, I can't wait to check it out. We've got tickets to the Yo Gabba Gabba Live in December that I thought was scheduled for the old Bob Carr, I wonder if it will be moved to the new theatre instead?
  20. Next Halloween the world will have to play the "Drink When you See a ......." game with Baymax instead of Elsa. This meet and greet is awesome, I don't know if my 2 year old will sit through a movie yet or not but I might have to give Big Hero 6 a shot with her.
  21. ^THIS, perfect Epcot Pavilion in the making!
  22. Thanks, might be worth checking out if Rattler is open, any idea what kind of crowds the Christmas event draws? Seems like the only winter events I've been to at seasonal theme parks have been insanely crowded since not very many attractions were open but sounds like this event might be different.
  23. Does anyone know if all of or some of the rides are open for the Christmas event? My wife and I are considering a long weekend in San Antonio in December and I'd like to get on Iron Rattler (and Superman) if the rides are open for the event.
  24. I'm not a huge flat ride fan but this looks like something I'd try, looks like the right amount of fun without being crazy disorienting. Fun Spot is always a great spot to stop in and kill a few hours whenever I'm in town and it's great to see them expanding.
