I wouldn't mind seeing a launched wing rider like Thunderbird with a unique layout at SeaWorld. Seems like these new wing riders are getting better so a launched version with some fly throughs would be pretty cool. Also, I could see a launched wingrider with a layout that's a cross between Thunderbird and Fury being a really fun ride, fast launch, huge initial inversions then a bunch of flythroughs turns and air time hill, that might make for a great ride.

Yeah, it looks like they reached their goal on the kickstarter campaign not long ago. Congrats to Funtown Mountain, now lets open this place and build a coaster. Also, someone donated the $10,000 and will have a statue of them selves placed on top of the mountain. But not just a statue of themselves, Dan Prall will have a statue of himself as Walter Sobchak from the Big Lebowski at the park! Mark it 8 Dude OVER THE LINE!!! Also, over the past couple of weeks the guys behind this project have been posting pictures from Holiday World, Universal Studios Hollywood, St. Louis City Museum, Gatlinburg (maybe), and some other fun places around the country so they have plenty of inspiration from some great destinations we all love.

I've only been to USH once several years ago so I don't remember much about the layout of the park or where the Springfield expansion is but for some reason the Hollywood version looks a lot more immersive and impressive than the Florida Version. Looks great, wish I liked the ride a little bit more, but the new area surround it is awesome.

I think I've commented on this before but it's pretty amazing the pace that Universal has been building new attractions in recently. If King Kong opens in 2016 then between 2009 and 2016 they will have opened Simpsons, Wizarding World, Despicable me, Transformers, Diagon Alley, King Kong, Cabana Beach, Sci Fi Mini Golf, an overhaul of City Walk, and might even be done with Saphire Falls and the new Waterpark. That's pretty impressive, say what you will about that Wizard Boy but it would appear that he knows how to put people through the turnstiles.

Ah that's where I saw it on here. It is odd that the newer promos for the movie feature the Jet pack shots so prominently so hopefully that translates into a new attraction somewhere. I don't know if they would ever touch the Astro Orbiter or not but it's one of those attractions at Magic Kingdom that I always kind of forget about, if they did replace it I'm sure not very many people would notice. Then again this is Disney so there would probably be protests and "Save the Ostro Orbiter" sites created the day they make an announcement.

I've always kind of liked the vekoma inverted Booemrangs, they're pretty fun and usually surprisingly forceful. Way better than a standard boomerang. -
Not sure if this belongs in this thread or the Dinsyeland thread but has anyone noticed that the new promos for the Tomorrowland movie feature a pretty awesome shot of a guy riding a Jet Pack......... that looks very similar to the jet packs featured in the recent Jet Pack ride patent Disney filed? Not sure if that patent was mentinoed in this thread (it may have been Disneyland or Shanghai), but it's interesting that the early promos for the movie didn't feature it but the new ones do. I can't find the clip from the recent TV promos but here is a toy recently reveled featuring the Jet Packs. Not sure if Disney would ever remove the Astro Orbiter but this would certianly make for a cool new version.

I love what they are doing with this food festival event, having generic country booths like everyone else would be easy but it looks like they really did a great job of keeping it focused on the Carolinas. Lots of great little details in there. The new entry plaza looks great and all, but I always was a fan of the old plantation style house main entrance. It was always kind of unique. Unrelated side note but how the heck did anyone ever convince someone to build a wooden roller coaster themed to the Wayne's World movie? That was always a strange match to me. -

I really wish they'd bring in RMC to give it the "Texas Giant" treatment. Could you imagine what the ride would be like if they re-designed in with their I-Box system? Holy cow... I've always thought The Legend would make a great candidate for an RMC makeover, could you imagine coming off the lift into a Medusa style right hand inversion rolling into that left handed first drop? And then the layout after that has all kinds of potential for crazy air and hang time. And Legend is kind of in a weird spot in HW's current coaster collection, bigger than Raven but smaller than Voyage, a RMC makeover could really transform it into something unique and awesome. But yeah it would be awesome on Voyage as well. Even when Voyage was brand new (and I still love the ride) it was incredibly aggressive so I can only imagine what time has done to it. It's a shame the timberliners never worked out, who knows how those might have improved the experience. And Thunderbird looks amazing, every new picture I see of the thing it just keeps looking better and better. I love the colors, it looks like it in a perpetual state of Autumn, which is kind of how I imagine Indiana year round anyways. -
They've added some pretty cool options to the Kickstarter page including name your own Hot Dog to be sold at the park for $75, a vintage mascot head for $125, a night in the Airstream Fun Bus chauffeured by Will Russell for $250, and my favorite a night in the Haunted Hotel walk through attraction with a behind the scenes tour and dinner for $225. A night in the hotel sounds pretty awesome, and a night on the Fun Bus with 10 friends could be pretty fun. Also I just noticed the Kickstarter page is the first time that the coaster hasn't been mentioned on an official report about the project. Hopefully that is still in the works after they get the place up and running (and profitable).

I hope they build a 200ft tall wooden coaster built by RCCA and theme it to the Son of Kraken.......... But seriously with nothing know about this project except that it's 200 feet tall leaves all kinds of room for speculation over the coming year. Luckily backstage areas at SeaWorld are all fairly visible so I'm sure as soon as track shwos up on site we will know about it. Does anyone rememebr the rumored B&M Hyper for Busch Gardens a few years back? I wonder if that project has been reproposed for SeaWorld.

Leave it to the coaster nerds to have more discussion about a mid course break run than a brand new launched B&M wingrider on the opening day of the new coaster..... Thunderbird looks awesome by the way, can't wait to check it out soon. Love the whole area around it, when it was first announced it "seemed" like that area was so far way from everything but the whole thing just looks amazing. Great job Holiday World -
I would absolutely encourage you to stay on site if you can afford it, even if for a portion of the trip to take advantage of the perks, but if that's not an option I've had some good luck with condo rentals through Groupon. Places like Mystic Dunes and a few of locations run groupon deals for a 1 or 2 bedroom condo with full kitchen for less than $100 a night sometimes. A lot of those condo properties are like their own little resorts with pools and mini golf and decent dining on site as well. Just another option similar to renting a house. Here's a link to the Mystic Dunes Groupon (I knew I had seen it recently), $85 a night for a 2 bedroom is pretty decent (and the golf is pretty solid if you are into that kind of thing). Mystic Dunes Resort Groupon I realize the date range isn't valid for your trip but it's gives ya some kind of idea what is avaialble, and there are ALWAYS groupons available for Orlando.

It looks like the offical Funtown Mountain Kickstarter page has been launched, check it out in the link below. Funtown Mountain: The Future of Fun Funtown Mountain Kickstarter Page I've never participated in a Kickstarter project before but I kind of want one of those t-shirts so this might have to be my first. Also, if I had $10,000 laying around I would absolutley donate it in exchange for a statue of myself to be placed on top of the mountain......

Haha, fair point. Although I remember reading somewhere in the early news reports that Will Russell said something along the lines of "We're dropping the guns but keeping the fun" related to the name change from Guntown Mountain to Funtown Mountain, so apparently there will be no guns to keep it a bit more family friendly. I am interested to see how they keep everything "family friendly" once the project is open since a lot of their promo stuff thus far has been kinda on the border of PG and PG-13 if ya know what I mean. Not that it's a bad thing, and I certainly love what they're doing, but this is Kentucky and this project thus far is far from the Magic Kingdom. They've even mentioned hosting music fests and concerts and video game competitions and a huge Halloween event in the future so it certainly seems like they're targeting sightly "non-traditional" audience. Also, I had to share this...... Kentucky Rushmore They posted a picture of this amazing Kentucky Rushmore sculpture on their facebook page last week. Apparently this mini sculpture is for their float in the KY Derby Pegasus parade but they're mentioned they intend to build a lifesize version of it on top of Funtown mountain in Cave City which will awesome given it's location and proximity to the interstate. And as a native Kentuckian they pretty much nailed it as far as to who is on KY Rushmore....

Apparently since Hatbox isn't returning but reappearing, he's been there the whole time as part of the 999 Happy Haunts. Yeah, just assume he's been invisible the whole time. He is a ghost so that is plausible.... Ya know, I'm sure if we search, there is some who who actually counted them all....lol. Wikipedia...... haha List of Haunted Mansion Ghosts The Wikipedia page also mentioned that the hatbox ghosts is supposed to be a "Pivitol figure in the story" in the upcoming Guillermo Del Toro Haunted Mansion movie, so that's cool.

So if the Hatbox Ghost is returning to the mansion after all of these years is another ghost leaving and can we throw a farewell party for the departing ghost? Or maybe they won't kick out a ghost and the 999 Happy Haunts will just be an even 1000, I'm cool with that the more happy haunts the better I suppose.
