  1. I'm excited to see the layout for this thing develop, fingers crossed it's not another Manta or Superman clone but considering this is Universal Japan I've got a feeling it won't be.
  2. Like others have said I would imagine this style track will allow them to build rides taller with steel supports but I'm also wondering if this style track gives them more flexability to utilize the track for different types of coasters. Any reason why this track couldn't be turned upside down for an inverted coaster? Most of the inversions to date on RMC ride or heartline rolls or over banks so this track might allow them to do more traditional loops or larger inversion. I know Lightning Rod has a launched lift hill but it's a realtivley tame launch, maybe with this track they can utilize a mroe powerful traditional launch. I like the trains in the concept art but maybe this track allows them to build other types of trains, floorless trains, wing rider trains, spinning trains, something really cool we haven't even thought of yet. Pretty exciting to see these guys offering something new.
  3. Your pictures always make me want to take a trip back to Cedar Point, I've never been in the fall and but it looks like they do a pretty nice job with their halloween event.
  4. Someone tell Tiger Woods that the socks and sandals isn't a good look for him (or anyone)........
  5. Wow, I'd seen some other pictures but those aerial photos really put the project into perspective as to how large everything really is. That show building is massive, I'm still not a huge fan of simulator style rides but maybe this think will be something different. I'm pretty excited about this project, if anything this land should be spectacualr to hang out in especially at night with all of the cool light effects. And I had kind of forgotten about the boat ride but that should be a nice addition as another physical ride in the park.
  6. It kind of sounds like Helix is somewhat similar to Cheetah Hunt, not a top 10 blow you away kind of ride but a really fun solid attraction. Although I have heard more positive reveiws of Cheetah Hunt than I have of Helix. Both really do have kind of similar layouts and concepts although they are compeltly different.
  7. RMC modification of the Beast to re-profile everything from the 1st lift to the 2nd lift, add in air time and funky overbank stuff, maybe some inversions. Keep the double helix more or less in place but extend the layout a bit after the exit so that the Beast becomes the worlds longest coaster, wood or steel. Enthusiasts the world over would riot, but an 8,500 foot long RMC would be an incrediblde ride, maybe the worlds #1 for generations to come.
  8. Am I the only one that can't tell the differnce between the construction pictures and the concept art with this thing? When the original ocncpet art came out I remember thinking how realistic the images looked and now I seriously can't tell the difference. And this project looks incredible.
  9. I still think all of the records stuff is kind of silly considering that there are only like what 6 dive coasters in the world? Especially silly when you think about the fact that this is world tallest Dive Coasters, yet another coaster in the same park has a vertical drop that is almost twice as tall. Besides the silly records it does look like an awesome addition. Despite what people think about B&M's these days the Dive Machines have always been really fun coasters that look incredible in person. Yeah there isn't much theming to this thing but who cares, the whole entrance plaza and area around the ride looks great in the concept art. Should be a nice addition to their collection.
  10. This whole thing is pretty sad to follow. I was always kind of skeptical of the project based on the location alone but was admitadley optimistic because everything they did seemed very cool and well thought out. Everything from their website and branding and social media pages were well done and fun to follow but yeah, seems like this place is more of a mess now than when he bought it.
  11. So after this opens what will have the best drop at Cedar Point, Valrvn or Mllenium Force (or Maverick) ?
  12. The best gambling advice I ever got. "If it sounds too good to be true, it's probably not, take the points"
  13. For whatever it's worth I've always thought the food at Disney and SeaWorld was fairly reasonably priced for what you can get. I mean the full service restaurants are a tad bit pricey for what they are but the food is always really good, but the quick serves are reasonable. At the Harambe Market for example you can get ground beef kabob flat bread with broccoli tomato salad and a drink for $13 or $14 dollars. I mean a burrito side of queso and a drink at Moes will run you about the same price plus or minus a dollar. Same goes for most all of the quick serves on property. Yeah it might be a little less food that's not always tip top restaurant quality but for an entertainment venue it's pretty reasonable. I've easily spent more than that for a burger fries and a drink at NFL stadiums. Also, the meal plans and All-Day dining options really are worth it if you're going to spend all day at the park and are ginog to eat. I mean I think an Adult at SeaWorld is like $33 maybe? For three meals, drinks, and a few snacks here and there that's nothing.
  14. I think I "get" how this thing is supposed to work but I'm curious if there's going to be some kind of emergency safety brake somewhere in the ride course in case the swith track section doesn't transitino properly during the ride cycle. Then again maybe I still don't really "get" how it's supposed to work, oh well, still looks like a cool ride!
  15. The mine ride overlay sounds awesome, I've never been to Knotts Scary Farm but it seems like this event always continues to re-invent itself over the years. The Skelteon key rooms concept seems really cool.
  16. Same, and Howl-O-Scream has walk on night rides on Kumba, well worth the price of admission alone! But yeah the actors at HOS do seem to get into the act a lot more and make it more entertaining even if the hoses aren't on the same level of detail and themeing. Seems like the HHN vs HOS comparison comes up every year, and while they're honestly very different events, I really do prefer HOS.
  17. Seeing pld pictures of Son of Beast kind of makes me wish that thing had survived long enough to let RMC have a chance to work with it. I can jsut imagine a barrel roll out of the station dop, then a gigantic surf curve before the dive into the first helix, then who knows that after that. I know I'm in the minority here but in it's first few years that thing was an exciting ride, the layout wasn't all that great but just the sheer size and power that thing created was a memorable experience (even if that memory was erased from the head bashing in later years). I'm guess we'll never see a wooden coaster that large ever again for good reason but it was kind of cool for a little while.
  18. I'm not saying the event won't be good or that I don't like the houses, and I realize that you can't please absolutley eveyone every year, it just seems like after 25 years of doing the event the past 5 or 6 years have felt exactly the same. Now I'll admit I haven't been every year in that period but it doesn't feel like I've missed much. I don't know how to describe it, but the event just isn't as interesting as it used to be to me for some reason. Part of it might be the perception that I think (know) it will be crowded and expensive, and the crowd isn't always the most pleasant to be around for long waits. Maybe it's because I think (know) all of the scares and effects will be the same ole gag where an actor will trigger an effect and jump out, and the houses will probably be packed and slow moving and all of the effects will be ruined before I get to them. And the Bill and Ted show will probably be not as good as it used to be. I mean I'm sure it will look incredible, and be just as good as it's been in the past, but I'm just not as interested anymore. Maybe I'm just getting old .
  19. Maybe it's just me but this years event seems pretty uninspring, just a lot of the same stuff I've already seen from previous years. It's been a few years since I attended HHN but I'm not really in a big hurry to go back.
  20. It will be interesting to see how different the Orlando version of King King will be compared to Hollywood. Hollywood understandably has to work around the tram tour ride system when the incoperate these new attactions, so hopefully the Orlando version will work in some more pyscial effects and features otehr than just the gigantic 3D video screens. And I guess we still don't exactly know what the King Kong ride system in Orlando will be so there's potantial for that attraction to have a completly different feel than the Hollywood tam tour version. Anyways as much as I'd lvoe to see a physical ride I have a feeling that what ever the difference between Hollywood and Orlando is for King Kong will be roughly the same difference for Fast n Furious. If the Beetlejuice Graveyard Review is closing also to make way for this attraction that combined with Disaster is a pretty decent chunk of land in the middle of the park, so hopefully Universal can do something exciting with it.
  21. Ah, the ever elusive brisket! I've found that with brisket, like most barbeque (and pizza for that matter), there's no such thing as bad briskett since you can always sauce it up to compensate for dryness or lack of flavor, but good brisket is really REALLY good. Good like's there's nothing better in the world kind of good. There's a bbq chain here in Jacksonville that does pretty good brisket, about the best I've ever had, called 4 Rivers Smokehouse. The orignal is in Orlando and I think they've got a few locations around central Flroida but it's deinfalty worth the time on you next Orlandio trip. great TR so far, always enjoys these food/coaster reports.
  22. So the rumor now is that Disaster will be closed down later this year and will be replaced by a new Fast n Furious attraction for Universal Orlando. I guess that's not terribly surprising since Disaster is one of the older attractions in the park. I'm guessing they'll gut the building and start from scratch but part of me hopes they'll find a way to incorperate that existing famous scene from Disaster into the new ride, would be really cool if they could. Either way, if this rumor is true, it's certianly an exciting time to be a theme park fan in Orlando!
  23. That carousel is really cool, but seriously I think 75% of the people riding were on their phones in that video! haha.
  24. Am I missing something here?? (Which is possible. I've been really busy with school.) All the renderings I have seen have been pretty standard B&M trains. I think he just means the custom artwork on them like Hollywood Dream and a few others. The concept art for Mako looks like there are some decorative "fins" on the side of the trains, and maybe a customized lead car similar to Manta. I've always liked the B&M Hyper trains, they're comfortable, ride nice, and looks great. I'm glad Mako has the standard 4-across instead of the weird tiered seating like Diamondback and Intimidator.
  25. I've never been on Ghost Rider but from what I've heard/read it sounds like it was a great ride when it was new, so keeping it's original layout might be worth while. If it is GCI I wonder if there's any chance of them introducing Millenium Flyers if they compeltly re-track the layout.
