See, I even think this shouldn't be allowed. First of all, if you're a parent and you've chosen to wait in a line that is so long that your child is going to have an "emergency" and needs to run to the bathroom, you're an idiot. You either don't know your kid well enough to know their bathroom habits to know if they can withstand the length of the line, or you're making them wait some ungodly amount of time which is totally unfair to the kid. BOTH of these things can be totally avoided, especially at Disney, and if this is the case, then yes, that person is a bad parent and a complete moron. The ONLY acceptable scenario, and fair to everyone else in line to me is the entire party leaves the line, and then gets back in line and the END OF THE LINE when they are done taking care of whatever personal business they needed to attend to. Most of the time when I've seen that happen at Disney the cast member usually notices the situation and offers the rider swap just to ease the situation, the guest wasn't demanding it or anything. Disney is about the only place that can do that seamlessly and not have it effect their operations (or the other guests) because they have CM's everywhere and they're so efficient. I'm not saying it should be allowed I was just saying it's nice when a CM can address it and make it a pleasant situation for the guest without making it a frustrating situation for everyone else in line. Again Disney is about the only place that can pull it off because they do offer the rider swap pass, but that's also the kind of thing that makes Disney so special. But yeah if you use FastPass+ properly it should never be an issue, and at other parks really young kids aren't going to be waiting in the longer lines for larger attractions anyways.

I've seen people at Disney relieve themselves in the bushes while waiting in line (they were probably foreigners with ways different than our own) so I wouldn't encourage that, but usually if it's a kid and the parent exits the line with them and they are courteous about it then it's not a big deal to me. If it's a large group re-entering the line and they're obnoxious about it and their party is no where in sight then it's a different story. If you're in line for 2 hours you can generally tell who genuinely has a reason to get out and who is just trying to make their wait shorter. At Disney I have seen people exit the line with kids to use the restroom then get issued a rider swap pass so they can just wait for the rest of their party to finish then take their ride or re-join their party at the loading station which seems like a reasonable solution for certain circumstances.

The Fallon ride is interesting, for some reason I wouldn't be surprised if this thing turns out to be more fun than people think it will be. With no real details about the ride system all we can do at this point is speculate but wasn't there something a few years back at IAAPA that was essentially a stand up simulator? Where you stood on a platform that was on a motion base system of some sort? Looked like a cool concept at least, not sure how it would translate to this project but we'll see. Also, depending on what the actual ride is like, it seems like with the technology that exists these days that they could constantly update whatever the pre-show experience is with fresh new content from Fallon to keep it interesting. Anyways, Twister was a cool attraction but, like Disaster, I honestly haven't been on it in years so hopefully whatever this Fallon project is will be fun replacement.

Cedar Fair Tests VR at Canada's Wondelrand!
Hilltopper39 replied to TB305's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yeah, I was just tying to think which rides in Cedar Fair parks would be the best fit. Blue Fire doesn't have OTSRs, no that they can't use the technology on ride with those restraints but I would think it would make mroe sense on ride without them. Backlot Stunt Coaster makes a lot of sense. Flight of Fear could probably incorperate some really cool effects into the experience. Should be interesting to see more information about this as it develops. I'm also anxious to read some more reveiews of the expereince. -
Cedar Fair Tests VR at Canada's Wondelrand!
Hilltopper39 replied to TB305's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So three reveiws from people who have actually experienced to VR in person range from "I loved it" to "The technology was way better than I thought" to "It's a good start" it sounds like the concept isn't as terrible as everyone imagined, imagine that! SO my next questions is if the technology is actually kind of cool and Cedar Fair is going to roll this out on other rides at other parks what ride is this best stuied for? I mean your probably not going to put VR on Millenium Force or Banshee or any larger/newr coasters, it sounds like on the ride at CW the technology is cool but Thunder Run doesn't do much on the physical side to add to the virtual expereince, so where does this fit? Maybe Backlot Stunt Coaster? The effects on that are pretty dated even though it's still a pretty fun ride and there is plenty of cool track sections to incorperate into a virtual world. Could this work on a Vekoma Boomerang or a looping coaster like Flight of Fear? Old Arrow Mine trains? -
I didn't think about the old school B&M roar, as much as I like that on rides like Kumba it is fairly unpleasant when your just standing around the midway and waiting in line. Atleast with Kumba (and several other older rides with the roar) the layout is isolated to a confined area where as half of Hulk is right there in the middle of the park. I wouldn't be shocked if the new track whomeverit comes from has some reduced noise.

Announcing "Skyline Attractions"
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like the look of this thing especially for a low cost attraction, I have no idea what a frog hopper costs but I would think this attraction is competitively priced to entice everyone from major park chains to small FEC's and arcades. Just think of how many frog hoppers there are in the world, this seems like the kind of attraction that while not the most exciting or innovative thing in the world could potentially sell like crazy, which will allow a small company to have a steady cash flow so that they can move onto to bigger projects. I have a feeling the people behind Skyline have a specific vision for how they grow their company and attractions like this are probably an integral part of that. I know that my 3 year old loves carousel, and tea cups, and most small kiddie rides but until just recently Frog Hoppers were somewhat intimidating (because of the height I think). This would be something that she would have absolutely loved a year ago, and would probably still want to ride now even though she's been on much larger rides, so I could see an attraction like this being a big success. -
I've attended Disney World with someone who requested (and hoenstly needed it) a GAC card in the last year and I thought Disney's system was very fair, they assign you a return time based on current waits (if I remember correctly) so guests needing asistance don't have to wait in line but can't really absue the system by rideing and re-rideing over and over without a wait. Disney is a little different because they offer fastpass so everyone, including guests needing assitance, can everyoneuse the fastpass system to minimize their waits. Six Flags is kind of in a no win situation, the system has been abused for soem time so they need to do something, but I'm not sure if requiring "proof" is really the correct solution. I wouldn't be surprised if this policy is modified at some point. I mean I also don't see why Six Flags can't intorduce a current wait time based return policy similar to Disney that's harder to absue, that seems like a much easier fix, atleast see how that works out before a drastic policy change.

I always though Millenium looked like a really cool coster with that funky layout, the long section of straight track were always intirguing to me. -
If you need the orcas to pushing humans in the water to be entertained, maybe be honest with yourself and admit you really don't care much about them? I don't think that's entirely true, I meant I could have sat and watched them swim all day and dind't feel the need to see the One Ocean show becuase I'm not a huge fan of it, but the old Believe show that included the interaction was one of the best live shows I've ever seen in a theme park, it was spectacular. There's no doubt that it is a spectacle, but if you're really interested in seeing the animals and care about their well being, do you need to see someone flying 30 ft in the air? I'm not sure what me as a guest enjoying the trainer interaction aspect of the show has to do with the animal's personal well being, but again It was pretty cool...... I don't know a thing about the aquarium industry but I do know that Shamu and killer whales are integrally associated with the SeaWorld brand, so any smaller regional aquarium parks that had the SeaWorld name associated with it would have to have killer whales which may or may not be feasible for a smaller location (size and budget reasons).

So I'm a bit late to this Blue World discussion and don't rmemebr there being any real detail about the project after it was announced but after watching the preview video the new enclosure looks spectacular but I'm curious will the stadium and the whale show be kept as part of the expansion or is that going to kind of go away as they introduce a massive enclosure. I could honestly see a really well done habitat beaing alsmost as effective as the traditional show that they have now in Orlando and San Diego. For me personally the show isn't nearly as entertaining without the trainers swimming with the whales and performing the stunts so if they just transtioned away from the show to a massive habitat enclosure with a viewing are where the whales could still "perform" on a less formal basis I could see that being a win win for everyone. I was at SeaWorld saturday and could have sat in the viewing area for hours just watching the orcas swim and play, dind't even feel the need to watch the show.

Kolmården Discussion Thread

Again, whoever is making these renders is incredible, I still can't tell what is real and what is fake! -
^I would slightly disagree with you on that, I do think Disney cares if they price you out but they're not, they raised annual pass prices a bit and have made that option unreasonable for some people but a 1 or 2 day ticket is still something the average family can afford even if it's only a one time thing or a special vacation every four or five years. Disney isn't exceeding attendance numbers of 140 plus million people world wide by pricing out a considerable portion of the population. They know what they are doing, Disney isn't going to give away admission for free but they're also not going to price it such that the average American can't afford it.

It seems like hte seasonal park haunt events ahve really stepped up their game over the years, the pictures from everyone I've seen (Kings Island, Cedar Point, CGA etc.) have all been really impressive. I'm nto sure how good all of the mazes really are since I've never been through them but the events look great atleast.

It's kind of interesting what's going on at WDW and DL, every year they raise prices and every year attendance keeps increasing. I can't really think of an example where a well established brand has done that and sustained it over a long period of time. Maybe the iPhone but that's still a relativley new product in the market. Has DL ever been rumored to intorduce the tierd pricing for daily admission like was mentioned for Oraldno a few years ago? I rememebr eharing that WDW may start charging more for days in the busy season and less for days when it is historically slower, which sounds like a great option to me.

Yeah you can get as much candy as you want. personally I like to recomend the ole "Thank you for the milk duds but I was really hoping for some skittles" technique to get double handfuls at each station from the attendant. Also towards the end of the evening I usually go with the "HEY! Look over there it's Elsa!" technique to divert the attention of the attendant long enough to snatch up your own handful.
