I'm glad it's optional since they are putting it some already decent coasters. I'm glad it's free, make it seem like less of a cheap gimmick if they're truly attempting to offer it to every rider. While it's not everyone's cup of tea I'm glad they are offering a unique option, honestly every review I've read from someone who has actually experience the VR Coasters to date have been more positive than negative so it seems to have potential. Kids these days are gonna eat this up.

I love the "fin" piece on the side of the trains, I wonder if those will be on every car or just the lead car, looks great either way. I didn't notice any pictures of the turnaround over the lake so I'm guessing they haven't placed any track in that are yet. I'm pretty excited to see how that section comes together, SeaWorld always does a great job of integrating their coasters with park surroundings (Mant's splashdown, Kraken's tunnel, Cheetah Hunt's launch/tower, all of Sheikra) so I'm sure that small portion of the ride will add a lot of excitement to that area of the park. Looking forward to seeing this thing complete.

Best Coaster Layout
Hilltopper39 replied to DarienLaker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Big Grizzly Mountain at Disneyland Hong Kong looks like an awesome layout. I've never been on it but I've watched a dozen videos of that thing and the combination of forward, backwards, lifts, and launches with all of the crossovers and tunnels make it look like a great attraction. -

I understand what you are saying, and believe me I know my opinion is in the minority but sometimes to me these things just get over analyzed and slightly taken out of context. I mean your example from Adam Schein, some sports writer, I mean we live in this world now where there is 24 hour sports coverage on tv, the radio, the internet, social media, and people like him have to find things to talk about and create content and publish stories to feed that machine. His job is to talk and write about sports so he has to have an opinion and take a stance on every little situation like this. For a guy like him, who probably hasn't personally spent more than 2 minutes around Cam Newton and has no clue what kind of person or leader he really is, to say that one emotional reaction after an interview is a "relapse in his maturation" is just kind silly to me if you think about it in that context. I'm sure Cam regrets losing his poise a little and reacting the way he did, and he will learn from it, he's still only 26 years old. He may not hold a press conference and issue an official apology statement or anything, but if he did would it really change people's opinions of him anyways? I don't really think it would. People are going to think what they want to think about you no matter what, and if his owner, coaches, teammates, and fans don't have a problem with him then why should I? I guess if that were the case then we would't have anything to argue about hahaha. Again I know my opinion is in the minority here but that's just my two cents. Oh well, onto the off season and the official Peyton Manning rumor mill, those sports personalities gotta have something to talk about ya know. -

I was wondering this too, I mean I get that Manning is the better choice for everyone involved, but I mean he wasn't the MVP. Malcom Smith went to DisneyWorld instead of Russell Wilson, freakin Peyton. On a side note I never think about a trip to the park the day after the Superbowl, but that Monday is always a crappy unproductive day at work anyways, next year a long weekend at Disney with the Monday in the magic Kingdom might be kind of cool. Superbowl is in Houston next year, I wonder which park gets the nod for the parade when the game is played exactly in the middle of the country haha. Yeah, that's how you do it, but it was odd that Carolina really got away from designed QB runs with Newton which is something they were so effective with all year. They had one in the first half and gained 20 some yards but I don't remember them even attempting one after that. No QB draws, not much read option after they almost fumbled the mesh point once, no QB sweeps, nothing. I realize setting the edge against Von Miller and Demarcus Ware aint the easiest assignment in the world but Carolina really never got in their rhythm at all. And as far as Cam's post game performance, maybe I just don't care but sometimes I think people look into that stuff way too much. No one remembers when Peyton Manning walked off the field and didn't shake hands with Drew Brees after Superbowl 44 but it happened. Newton walked out of an interview, Manning walked off the field, it happens, who cares. -

Every year I forget how weird Superbowl games get with the extra long commercial break, and ll the extra pauses, and the 30 minute halftime, it's always a weird game and yeah neither team every really got into any kind of rhythm which totally played in to Denver's game. Was it just me or did Denver get every break in that game, Peyton would fumble and the ball would bounce right up in to his hands, a weird no fair catch on a punt that kind of looked like a fair catch that turned into a 50 yard return, a field goal off the post, a fumble rolling 10 yards forward into the hand of a Denver running back in stride. It was a wonky game, and Denver has been winning wonky games all year. -
As for "Hamilton".... well, we'll wait until a tour (eventually) comes through. Yeah I don't really know who anyone in that cast except the guy from American Idol and the guy who played Spiderman on Broadway, and that may not be a bad thing. Also I kind of like the idea of it not being live but instead being recorded so that they can "re-imagine the story visually". As for Hamilton, yeah they did announce a tour for spring 2107 and are opening a long run in Chicago this September, so they're trying to get this thing out on the road as soon as possible while it's still hot so hopefully I can catch a tour date at some point in 2017.

When is Rocky Horror live supposed to air? I've seen some random press about it but not a definitive date or cast or anything. I've always wondered why it never got re-made with all the remakes out there these days (I may or may not have fantasy booked the new cast a few times in my head) but a live version for tv will be pretty cool. Also, Hamilton tickets went on sale today for new shows the released after November 1st, I tried to score some tickets for a weekend we're planning a NYC trip but the few tickets available disappeared in about 30 seconds. I had a chance at some but they were a bit out of my price range ($550). Oh well there is always the ticket lottery, and after than I'm taking recommendations for a new show in November.....

Yeah, not a huge fan of it either. I've always wondered why they have never attempted to update it over the years. Seems like it would be simple enough to record like 4 or 5 different "interactions" with the band so at least you get a random pre-show video every time instead of the same thing especially considering the pre-show really doesn't add that much to story for the attraction. They could show the band eating take out, arguing with the producer over mixing, Steven Tyler doing blow, anything really then 30 seconds before it ends oh hey looks there's a limo lets head to the show.

Legoland Florida Discussion Thread

On my one and only visit to Legoland the Apple Fries stand was closed, all day, on a Saturday in July. I'm still bitter about it to this day. -

Yeah, funny game that football, two or three plays here and there and it's a completely different game. The missed PAT, the missed conversion on 4th and 1 with 5 minutes left, and obviously the 2 point conversion. Gotta give Denver credit their defensive front whipped New England all day and was the difference in the game. I was mostly pulling for the Patriots because I thought they would make a better Superbowl match up against the NFC champ, now I wouldn't be surprised to see Carloina beat Denver the same way Seattle did a few years back. Carolina has hit their stride here in the playoffs and just look unstoppable. I know the Cards had 7 turnovers but despite that they were outmatched all day in all phases. I'm hoping for an exciting Superbowl but wouldn't be surprised if it's a bit one sided. -
Thanks for the response, we're probably gonna go with the Silver level pass, my daughter (and parents) have the gold pass so we can get the Photopass Photos through her account. We would get the Gold pass if we lived a bit closer or our kids were older but we're far enough away (2 hours) that we usually have to come down and stay for the night and the blackout dates on the Gold Pass are days we probably wouldn't want to go anyways. I'm not really that concerned with making Fastpass+ reservations in advance for the first day we use the passes we'll just take whatever is available the day we go no big deal. I just wasn't sure if you could buy passes at the gate or if you bought online if you had to wait until the bands arrive but it sounds like wherever you purchase the pass you can get a Hard ticket at the gate if the bands haven't shipped yet. Also, does anyone know if the passes are good for a year from the day you purchase them or from the day you first use them? I couldn't find that anywhere, the website says "one year from the date of issuance" what ever the hell "issuance" that means.

So we are planning on purchasing Disney annual passes this this year but might make a trip this weekend that is going to be a last minute thing. I know your are supposed to allow 10 days for the Magic Bands to ship to your house but if you purchase the AP online, do you immediately get some kind of voucher or access code that you can use to make fast passes and redeem for a ticket at the ticket booths? Can you purchase Annual Passes at the ticket booths at the park? I've never bought a Disney AP so I was just curious what the process was.

Astroworld TR, October 2005
Hilltopper39 replied to John Peck's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember really liking Astroworld on my only visit back in the day, I think it was in 1997 because Excalibur was still operating at that point. It had a lot of charm in the themeing (where there was themeing), and although none of the coasters are exceptional they had a pretty eclectic collection of semi-exotic rides for a nerd like me at that time. The Ultra Twister, and Schwarkopf shuttle loop, the stand up which I remember really fun when it was still smooth, the indoor themeed Vekoma thing, and XLR-8 were all fairly unique rides for their time. Oh and I forgot about Dungeon Drop which I think is still one of my favorite drop rides I've been on. I love those 2nd gen Intamin drop towers and I remember that being one of the taller ones around at the time (230 feet tall or something?). I still prefer the single 4 person cars to the larger gyro drop 40 person rings, but that may change when I ride Falcons Fury. -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I still wanna see Holiday World transform Frightful Falls into a haunted house dark ride/log flume combo, that would be awesome. Add a multi layer indoor section after the tunnel with another lift and a drop and some animatronics and fun dark ride elements, it would be great! -

Some Pro-New England propaganda leading up to this weekend's contests. Manning Retirement Party Daddy's home -
I didn't think Test Tracks pre show/build room felt like it extended the queue at all. I really enjoyed building the cars and making them as stupid as possible. Its actually small touches like that I believe add to the attraction over all and if thats at the expense of even an extra 10 minutes in the queue line I'm happy with that. I guess after doing it a few times it's not as appealing to me. And I was talking about the the wait space before the build room, then the build room, then the que to the ride platform, then the platform it just feels like it takes a long time to get through after you've begun the attraction. And the que section after the build room seems like it's always full and takes another 5-10 minutes to get through after you've "built" your car, maybe I'm exaggerating those wait times but it's just how I remember my last half dozen or so rides. And again it's a really minor gripe about one of the best attractions on property and I totally I get the purpose of pre-shows, but Test Track just feels like it takes longer and messes with the pacing of that attraction. Tower of Terror, Rockin Roller Coaster, Dinosaur, all go video room -> short usually semi-empty que -> ride, those ques feel more fluid than TT to me.

First off congrats on the role, but wow, the Woodford Theater, I haven't heard that name in a long time. I'm originally from Woodford County and have seen a few shows there when I lived there back in the day. I remember when that new facility first opened and I remember it being a fairly nice little theater for a being in a county recreation complex. Also, random but I just looked at the Woodford Theater website and there are a lot of familiar names on the officers/board of directors list. Looks like my old neighbor is on the board of directors, never knew that growing up haha. Small world.

It's a minor gripe, but that is one of the things I dislike about the attraction (and other attractions at Disney). Even with a fastpass it feels like it takes forever to get on and off of that thing. Test Track is kind of the same way, the pre-show adds what feels like 20 minutes onto the time it takes to experience the attraction.
