No worries, it was probably the Monday in me reading the post to begin with. Were were considering the Silver pass but the gold is pretty enticing. Our problem with previous seasonal passes is that friends and family always seem to want to visit in the Summer when most seasonal passes would be blacked out, but $550 for a full year excpet 2 weeks at christmas and 2 weeks at spring break is worth considering now that our daught is old enough to drop in for a day without it being moretoruble than it's worth. The silver is still pretty resonable for $390, I'd prefer nto to go in the Summer anyways. I was planning to get a SeaWorld/Busch Gardens for Mako and Cobras curse but that might have to wait a year. I'll probably wait and see if SeaWorld puts their passes on BOGO for Black Friday again.

^Chill out, I was reading the email form a phone and msised the graphic with all of the levels. Besides I said " you have to be a FL resident to purchase certein levels" and four of the six annual pass levels are only available to FL Residents or DVC members, and three of the pass levels are for FL residents only (didn't it used to FL and GA residents?). This may sound weird but I've always looked at pass pricing almost like they offer the two highest levels at an increased price to non residents/DVC members more so than at a discount to residents/DVC memebrs.

I'm not entirely sure here but I don't think here are "FL Resident Discounts" per se on annual passes since you have to be a Florida Resident or a DVC member to purchase certain levels of the annual passes. Also just a heads up but one of the best ticket options Disney offers for FL residents goes usually on sale after the first of the year, used to be called the Discover Disney ticket or something, and you can get a 4 Day park hopper for about $150 that has to be used before June. So if you are undecided on the full annual pass this is a pretty good option. Four days in the spring and a day at Not So Scary in the fall makes for a nice year without buying a full annual pass. With these price increases I do find it kind of funny how many people are outraged over parking being increased to $20. It's been $16 or $17 for years now but all the sudden $20 is where everyone is drawing the line in the sand. If they raised it to $50 I'd get it but it's a $3 increase, not that big of a deal haha.

By unique I mean something other than lift, curved drop, pretzel loop, turn, roll, turn, roll, turn, brakes a sequence that every flyer except Starry Night Ripper seems to follow somewhat. I do enjoy Manta, the pretzel loop is getting to be a bit much for me in my old age but the themeing around the rest of the ride is enjoyable.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They have 12 haunts, really? Wow, these regional parks have really stepped up their Huant game over the years. This report kind of takes me back, I rememebr going to the event in the early 2000's when it was still Fear Fest or soemthing and man the event has come a long ways in 15 years. In 2003 or 2004 they had a haunt in the old Antique Cars ride where actors would actually pop out at your antique car while you were driving around the cicruit, it was one of the coolest haunts I'd ever seen at the time. -
The apocalypse que haunt layover is a pretty cool concept. I could see that type of thing becoming popular at other parks. If they did it right with a well designed layout it would only take a few actors to provide a lot of scares. When you waiting in a line there's really no where to go so actors could move around behind walls and set pieces and constatnly pop up at random points when you don't expect it. Pretty cool that they tried somthing different with it at least.

I'll throw Kumba in as having a lame first drop considering how awesome the rest of the ride is. It's definatly different but I never was a fan of the long relativley falt curving drop, doesn't have any airtime and really doesn't feel like it gets moving until after your through the first loop, but after that it's a top 10 ride.

Didn't they have like 4 trains for Hulk? I'm sure they salvaged what they needed for the future. This project kind of flew under my radar, I remember hearing about an extended clsoure for the attraction but didn't realize that included a complete (or atleast partial) track overhaul and possibly new trains for the attraction, I just thought they were updating the launch. Should be interesting to follow, I'm guessing they'll be getting the new style restaints like Banshee and the wing rider trains (I guess Valrvn has them too). I'm wondering if the new launch will be LSM like Thunderbird which would make sense why they have to completly overhaul the the trains to accomodate the new launch system.

LSM Speedboat Amusement Concept
Hilltopper39 replied to chadster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I could see something like this being really cool at a waterpark but with a $15 million dollar price tag it might be too large of an investment for a smaller park to handle. -
Slightly off topic for this thread but how long does it usually take to get through a meal at Be our Guest? My biggest issue with full service Disney Dining restaurants is that it feels like the meals take forever sometimes, the food is always good and the service is second to none but it always feels like it takes forever. I know be our guest is kind of a hybrid full service where you order at a kiosk and don't have a traditional wait staff so I was jsut curious if the whole experience goes by any quicker.

I know FastPass+ isn't avaialble during the event (at least I don't think it is) but are the "fastpass" fireworks viewing areas open on a first come first serve kind of basis? Also, I know on the party website it says Be Our Guest is open during the event but does anyone know if you can get reservations ahead of time? I checked on the regular MyMagic+ app reservation page and it either the reservations aren't avialable or they're already booked.

Seems like I remember riding Gwazi just a few weeks after the re-tracking and the new trains and it ran like it was new, but a a year later and it was as rough as it ever was so maybe that was more on the maintenance than the refurbishment. Hopefully whatever they do to Ghostrider will have a longer lasting difference.

Cedar Fair Tests VR at Canada's Wondelrand!
Hilltopper39 replied to TB305's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^And I totally get that it's just funny how Europa announced the exact same thing last week for a similar coaster and everyone in that thread was receptive to the concept and willingy to give it a shot but when the annoncement is about a Cedar Fair park all the sudden it's going to be a pointless, nauseating, capacity nightmare (and yes I understand Europa and Canada's Wonderland aren't exactly on the same level but you get the point). No one is forcing anyone to ride a VR coaster, and when the concept debuts to the public I highly doubt the headsets will be "mandatory", if anything it will probably be an upcharge. Isn't Europa's an additional fee? Again it may be pointless but we won't know until we try it. -

Hilltopper39 replied to TB305's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How will you know if it has a better experience with the VR if you won't ride it? I mean, I know this is the internet and a roller coaster enthusiast site at that but why all the hate towards a concept that NOBODY has even tried yet? I mean we're talkign about the park testing a concept on a Mack powered Mine Train that I had completly forgotten even existed, if it breathes some new life into that dated attraction GREAT! If it's a terrible, nauseating, capacity nightmare that looks like garbage then so be it but I'm all for giving the concept a chance before completly casting it off into the fiery pits of hell. It might be really cool, it might be hot garbage, but let's atleast give the thing a chance. -
I love the Not So Scary Halloween Party, it's always the highlight of my "park" year. I'm planning on going the 9th and can't wait, the my whole family went lat year and pulled off this costume (it's not the best but you get the point). This year I'm flyin solo with my 3 year old so we gotta come up with something. 2014 Costumes How was the crowd this year? I know it's always a light crowd since they limit admission but it seems like the event keeps gaining popularity and everytime I see pictures of social media from the event it "looks" more crowded than I remember, not that it's a bad thing. I still think last year the only thing with a wait was 7 Dwarves Mine Train at about 30 minutes but I figured that was only beccuase it was so new. Such an awesome event, can't wait to check it out again.

^Either that or Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Epcot doesn't have much as far as major attractions (Soarin, Test Track, Mission Space) but that's a park worth spending a whole day in to soak up all the atmosphere and enjoy the World Showcase. If you made Fastpass+ reservations for Hollywood studios for Toy Story Mania and Tower or Rock N Roller Coaster for the afternoon like 2 pm or later it's pretty easy to hit most of Animal Kingdom in the morning with minimal waits. If you do Everest, Dinosaur, and Kilamanjaro Safaris at opening you should be able to see the animal exhibits and one or both of the Lion King and Nemo shows (I'm not a fan of Nemo) pretty easily before noon or 1. Animal Kingdom is a beautiful park but you can rush through it and not miss much, same kind of goes for the Studios. Get a Fastpass for Toy Story Mania and Rockin Roller Coaster/ Tower of Terror (the line for Tower always moves pretty quick and RnR has singel rider) then take the rest of the day to see Lights Motors Action, do the Muppets and the Movie Ride and whatever else you're intersted in and wait for Fantasmic that night if you are interested in it. If you are interested in Fantasmic I'd definatley reccomend the Fantasmic Dining Package. For a touch more than the regular price of the meal you get a reserved seat at the show. The stadium for Fantasmic tends to fill up sometimes even an hour before the show on crowded days so it's nice to grab an extra ride on Tower of Terror then stroll in to your reserved seat 5 minutes before it starts. Tha's how I'd approach it if it were my trip, squeeze Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios into one day and give Epcot as much time as possible.
