  1. The guys at Funtown Mountain released their Kickstarter video online this morning and will be premiering it later today at the Funder Explosion event in Louisville (free event with a DEVO cover band I might add). After the event today the team is taking the show on the road to various cities across the Midwest on their Carnival of Fun Tour featuring live bands and some other funky fun carnival acts. Both events are fundraisers for the park which is scheduled to open in June 19th of this year with limited attractions in operation, then the Grand Opening will be next summer with more additions to be made this off season including the YOLO Coaster. No details to date on the coaster other than that they are adding one, and it will be the Yolo Coaster, so Yolo I guess. Check out the video below and check out the Carnival of Fun if it rolls into a city near you. Funder Explosion! Carnival of Fun! [youtu_be]https://youtu.be/Z8-ktqBLRXo[/youtu_be] The video is weird and wonderful at the same time, and Colonel Dark Meat is my new favorite character.
  2. It kind of reminds me of the Lowery Park Zoo in Tampa a little bit with the mixture of smaller rides and animal exhibits. I love the addition of the family coaster, I've always thought more zoos could greatly benefit from a nice rides section including a smaller family coaster, nice to see one going through with it.
  3. I've never been to Hyde Park but I had kind of forgotten how great their coaster lineup is. I totally for got they added the wing rider and the Mii Dive Coaster. When I think of bucket list European parks for me Europa and Alton Towers usually come to mind but I may have to start throwing Heide park on that list!
  4. Yeah, I've started to grow more lienient towards selfie sticks as long as they aren't obstructing other peoples views and runing their experience. If you using it for a selfie out of the way of people I might still make fun of you in my mind but at least it's not affecting my experience. Now that the on-ride/in show selfie stick issue has been addressed can we move onto the bigger issues.....like on-ride/in show ipads? Those are as bad if not worse than selfie sticks. Put you 12 inch screen down, a self stick obstructs your view, an ipad compeltly blocks it!
  5. I've always loved Animal Kingdom but this addition as well as the River of Light should be a nice boost to the park. I was there from last weekend and while you still can't see a whole lto of the section from the park areas/parking lot the buildings that will host the simulator ride are pretty massive. I'm not a huge fan of simulator rides but it should be interesting to see what that do with this one in the particular fantasy world. Could be really good.
  6. I was only kidding about the mosquitos, I'm sure Disney can afford whatever treatment is necessary to ensure the comfort of their guests.
  7. If they have that figured out I'd appreciate it if they'd share their secret with the rest of this bug ridden state, we could use the help! (Not now, but give it a few months and they'll be everywhere)
  8. ^Sunset Point, that's it! Awesome, I'm glad it's still there. It's a bit less secluded now with the Bungalows but whatever it's still a great little spot to catch the fireworks (and drool over rooms I'll never stay in). On a side note they used to sell a print of a painting in the Poly gift shop of that spot and the view over the lagoon to the Magic Kingdom. I bought the painting but it broke in my luggage on the trip home after we got engaged there and I've NEVER been able to find it anywhere. Not in the gift shop, not at the Art of Disney store at Downtown Disney, I even contacted several artists who's prints are sold in various Disney gift shops and none of them knew where to find it. Every single one of them knew exactly which painting I was talking about but not a one knew who painted it or where I could find it. With that being said 10 gold doubloons to anyone who knows where I can find a copy of that darn painting.
  9. That's where I proposed to my wife, and that's why I'm glad that little spot is still around!
  10. I would be shocked if they aren't already booked solid for the first year! I wouldn't be shocked if they were already booked for longer than that considering how popular the Polynesian Resort is amongst returning guests and how long the property has had limited capacity due to renovations. These things are really so cool. Did you happen to notice while you were there if the little chunk of land that used to extend out into the 7 Seas Lagoon where they used to pipe in music from Wishes for guests watching fireworks was still intact? There used to be hammocks and a bench and some Palm trees and the spot had a name that I can't recall. It was a great little spot on property that I thought was going to be lost due to this renovation but a few of the pictures it looks like it might still exist in some form.
  11. Interesting, I mean it's certianly out of my price range but I'm sure Disney won't have any toruble keeping those things booked all of the time.
  12. I don't even want to know what these Bungalows cost per night. Okay I kind of do want to know, but it's going to be reidiclous....rediclously worth it!
  13. Looks like Funtown Mountain held/is holding a press conference today to make some announcements about their project in Cave City, KY. The've announced a June 19th opening date with limited attractions as well as a few details about the full project which is shceudled to open in the Spring of 2016. Here is a lsit of attractions from the articel that will be opening in June as well as next Spring, including the YOLO Coaster! No real details on the coaster other than it is being called the YOLO coaster, which is enough detail for now! opening Date Here is the link to the article in the Louisville Courier Journal. Will Russell's Wild Ride is Headed to Funtown Mountain The did release some concept art on their Social media pages for the Kentucky theme Puttin 'N" Kentucky mini-golf and they were pretty awesome, KFC Buckets, Churchill Downs, bourbon barrels, all of the stereotypes you can shake a stick at in one putt putt course! And again, their social media pages are pretty awesome so follow them if you have any interest in this project.
  14. Yeah, the video features several attractions in the area, I'm not sure what Funtown Mountain's conection with the other attractions is but I guess they area all involved somehow? Will be interesting to see how this place develops.
  15. I've stopped at the various attractions in Cave City over the years when I was in school in Bowling Green. I don't think I ever went to the old Guntown Montain partly because I'm not sure it was ever open but I've done the Alpine Slide, Dinosaur World, and some of the questionable go-karts and mini golf in the area. It's a neat area, a bit rundown over the years but that's kind of part of the charm in a weird way so hopefully whatever these guys have in store breathes a little life back into the area, Seriously follow these guys on Facbook and Instgram, they're always posting really cool stuff.
  16. Last week the folks at Funtown Mountain announced that on April 1st they will be making some announcements about the park including opening date and maybe an operating scheudle (yes I know that is April Fools day, but they assured everyone the announcement is not a joke). They've been very active on Facebook and Instagram posting tons of pictures and videos of "stuff" they're doing in preparation. They've been teasing something called the "Carnival of Fun" which sounds like some kind of traveling roadhshow that is related to the park. Not sure exactly what it is yet but they have announced a few acts that will be participating and performing, here is Facebook page for the Carnival of Fun Carnival of Fun. The minds behind this weird project also released a teaser of their upcoming Kickstarter video related to project which can be seen here. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] I still really have no idea what these guys are up to with this place but it's been a lot of fun to follow them on Social Media, they've been posting a lot of really cool content. Hope it turns into something exciting! Should also note these guys have rounded up a full set of the original "Rock-Afire Explosion" animatronic band that used to perform at Showbiz Pizza across the country to be the official Band of Funtown Mountain. Just another little weird and wonderful detail that these guys are putting into this project. Rock-Afire Explosion, the Funtown Mountain House Band
  17. I just noticed this but I didn't realize that Thunderbird is only going to have 5 rows per train compared to 7 or 8 on Wild Eagle or Gatekeeper. Hope this don't negativley impact capacity but it should make for a wild ride! Short trains always feel way more intense for some reason.
  18. So are they adding a "third track" to attraction or extending the ride length of the existing attraction with additional scenes? Either way an increase in capcity for this ride is greatly needed. I've always wondered if the imagineers really thought the attraction would be this popular when they were designing it, it always felt undersized for the crowds it draws but maybe it was never expected to be this popular. Not that Disney really uses the E-ticket or D-ticket labels anymore but this has to be the most popular "non-E-ticket" attraction at any ofthe parks.
  19. Welcome to Central Florida!!! Seriously though, if you are ever back in Florida again, look into the "Flex Pass" - It usually last 14 days and gives you unlimited visits to BGT, SeaWorld, Universal, and sometimes some other add-ons. It's makes your visit to these parks MUCH more reasonable! Discovery Cove is also a great value if you opt for the $25 upgrade which gives you access to Seaworld. Busch Gardens and Aquatica for 14 days (I think). That makes the price of Discovery Cove a little easier to manage and is a great option for Orlando if you're looking for something other than Disney and Universal.
  20. Here is another article about the project posted in the Louisville Business Journal. I belive this article is where the future "YoloCoaster" is mentioned. Will rRussell's Plans For Funtown Mountain Go Well Beyond the Mountain
  21. I searched the forum but didn't find anything related to this project in Cave City, Ky on the site of the former Guntown Mountain site so I thought I would start a thread to follow the progress of the project. The old park has been bought and is currently been refurbished by Louisville based entrepreneur Will Russell. Here a few links to the park website and an article published in the Louisville Courier Journal. They posted quite a few pictures and updates to their facebook page and it looks like the project has been funded and is under way. A new coaster was mentioned in the newspaper article but no "new" rides have been planned for this year. Looks like an exciting project! 22. So it's just a wooden coaster that has an inversion, not an inverted wooden coaster. Ahhhhhh, that clears up so much confusion haha.
  23. True, but that doesn't count!!!!! I have always wondered why a park in the local market of a winning team never tried to pull a "I'm going to Six Flags New England!" type promo with a player from the winning team. There are probably copyrights involved with the MVP and all but I feel like someone could pull off a similar promo somehow.
  24. Has there ever been a theme park related Super Bowl commercial? If so I can't remember one.
