Photo TR: Opening day Helix at Liseberg
Hilltopper39 replied to Hhappy's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Trains? Awesome, Station? Awesome, Restraints? Awesome, Ride? Awesome. Amazing project here. Just when you think man if Lisberg only had some kind of terrain twister launch coaster with inversions then that place would really be special they go and build something like this..... -
^I love that song and love me some Arcade Fire, had no idea that was what it meant! (Semi off topic but yet relevant)But this is is my new favorite supporter of marriage equality..... (semi NSFW language) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TV9_ivcKZw0 And that's the Bottom Line!!!!

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

I'll argue with this point, I've seen plenty of opening day crews that were incredibly efficient and did their job just fine. Diamondback on opening day was fine, Wild Eagle opening day was fine, operating rides is all about attitude and effort more so than experience or skill. Also, I didn't notice in any of the reports anywhere but did The Bat get a station re-theme in addition to the paint job? Seems like I remember hearing about the station being re-themed to haunted house or something to match the area with Banshee? That are is going to be full of life during Haunt nights. -
Yeah the new Dumbo area sounds awesome and honestly I don't think I've personally ever been on Dumbo so new Disney ride credit for me i suppose. Thanks for the tips, that's kind of what I figured, she's so young that everything will be new in interesting. Thanks again!

In my circle of friends I'm usually the one giving advice on Disney trips but this weekend I have a Disney trip planned that I have absolutely no experience with, visiting the parks with an 18 month old. We're taking her to Disney Saturday for her first visit and I was wondering if you had any advice for conquering the Disney parks (or any park really) with small children. Obviously we're not going to take her on Space Mountain or Stich's Escape from Planet Suck or anything like that but I was just curious in your experience is there anything to stay away from? Anything that KT really liked when she was that young? Anything you thought she would enjoy but hated? Anything that you didn't expect much of but she ended up loving? Help me experienced theme park parents, you're my only hope!

Those shots of the beast look great, can't wait to see this POV. Maybe it's just me since I grew up with that ride and that park, but there's some "special" about that ride. Just such a weird unique awesome ride. -

On tape that slow tool looks kind of dull and appears to be a disappointing end to an exciting layout, good to hear that is not the case. As forceful as Raptor? That's awesome, I've always found Raptor to be very intense and highly underrated in the world of inverted coasters. -

If RMC topper tracked the Beast. It would be boring. The Beast has no real camelbacks so it would just be a smooth scenic railway. I'm fine with them retracking the helix. But just imagine if they added camelbacks, like a LOT of them, and maybe a few of those crazy headlines and over banks like on Outlaw Run……..… (and then managed to add in a few extra hundred feet of track to make it the longest roller coaster in the world again, wood or steel! new records, YAY!) -

Glad to hear that the Beast is running great again, I'm slightly less in favor of having Rocky Mountain transform it into something crazy now……. (but seriously how insane would that thing be with a RMC make over?) -

The station looks awesome, pretty impressed with everything about this project so far! -
I'm watching, I have a feeling this season will be great. And it's totally the best thing on TV right now. Just a note on the multiple story lines, I agree that there are a lot of story lines and it moves slowly but I've read that the film makers did this on purpose and that this season will move a lot faster because so many story lines will unravel and intersect. For me it's also part of why I like the show, it's almost like it's a challenge to watch it and keep up with everything. I read the first book then didn't have time to read any of the others but I kind of like watching the show as is without know what happens in the books. Eventually I'd like to read the books but I might wait until after the series is over. The show is in kind of an interesting position with books since Martin isn't done writing them. I've read that martin has told the two producers of the show how the story will end in case they catch up to the story line before he is finished writing the books. I've also read that their goal is 8 season of the show and that Martin might be done writing the books 4 years from now so the show could potentially have a different ending than the books. Really a pretty interesting situation.

Is it just me or does that thing have the same layout as King Cobra and Shockwave and those other TOGO standup coasters the Cedar Fair Parks have? -

The Control Panel Enthusiast Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to Montu Maniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes we had a panel shop when I worked at Consign. I am also using one for panel fabrication too, as they are far better at than I am . We produce all of the drawings and equipment list while they do the actual fabrication as per our specifications. And it leaves me free to concentrate on the engineering side. -Brian Brian, is the shop you us a UL listed shop or is a UL listing on the control panels something that isn't necessary in the amusement park controls industry? -

Knoebels Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's pretty exciting, I've always heard pretty good things WIcked at Lagoon. Leave it to Knoebels to go with a bit of a , uh, different manufacturer. I know Zierer has had some big projects recently but they're still relatively new to the major coaster market. You If Knoebels builds it it's going to be awesome, bout time to schedule up a trip to PA again. -
Show your work? What is this middle school algebra? Why can't I just use my R&E Mystery trip calculator! Here goes: Fantasy of Flight is on I-4 West of Tampa so I'm guessing your flying out of Tampa. Julia Stiles is in Dexter, Dexter takes place in Maimi, there are Super Targets in Miami, there is a cruise terminal in Miami. You flying from Tampa to Miami to catch a Velentines weekend cruise to the Caymans filed with better than normal sex salad and wild rumpus.

Awesome updates as always Shane, I kind of like the re-profiled mat racer "bump" more than the under ground section. Maybe when you build Cowabunga Bay St. Augustine the mat racer here can go below grade AND have a speed bump . I loved following the construction updates in Utah, looking forward to more from Vegas!
