  1. Looks like a fun ride. I haven't been there in a few years, not since it was renamed I think. Looks like I'll be missing out on the spinning coaster. Wonder how long this will last, pretty sure that cement slab is cursed.
  2. I'ts really hard to make a website scaleable in that direction. Almost every website in existence is fixed width. It can be done it's just better not to so the site always looks the same for everyone. I think there are a few simple changes in styling though that could make the homepage look better.
  3. It probably feels different being there in person, since the place is so huge. Looking at it in these photos, the whole look of the place it pretty underwhelming. Absolutely nothing about the place screams high quality and performance. The entrance to the place is covered in a giant piece of red plastic. It has a modern feel, but a cheap modern feel. I bet that IKEA across the way came in handy. I mean just look at this sign for an attraction. The illustration doesn't really have good style to it, it just looks like a poor attempt at trying to make something cooler. I'm not saying they should have built the whole place out of magnesium wrapped in carbon fiber, but the place is too simplistic. I know they have more cars to view somewhere else in there, but I don't get why they put 4 of basically the exact some model out front.
  4. He decided to build a soapbox derby downhill go-cart and compete in a race for charity! Initial design. His first attempt proved lackluster in achieving the desired maximum velocity, so he teamed up with Yale University to develop a more streamlined cart with a lower center of gravity. Desired speed was still not achieved so larger wheels were added and a change from 4 wheels to 3 created less friction with the road. Increased camber created better stability at high speeds and when cornering. A loophole in regulations was also discovered that allowed the cart to be towed by an German automobile. Some called it cheating, he called it ingenuity.
  5. Heres the thing...What if the coaster slowed down? Then they wouldn't be lit. Considering the whole point of the effect, I don't think it matters that the lights aren't on when the wheels aren't spinning.
  6. Really doesn't look too bad to me. Obviously those track pieces would need a bit of refurbishing. A bit of sandblasting and new paint. Pieces like the chain guide and stuff is easily replaced. i don't see it being rebuilt though just because its pretty old. Any small park wouldn't be able to afford it and any big park would want something better.
  7. So whats the deal? Is this moving from another park or something? Just weird that a park is building a style of coater that was popular over a decade ago, and I don't think one has been built since then either. Oh, it's Chang. Makes sense.
  8. So it opened in the 80's then I'm guessing? Anyways my point was that when it opened, maybe not every city in America had a Chinese restaurant so the World Showcase was a little bit more novel than it is now. I didn't say I didn't like EPCOT, just the World Showcase. Rides are the reason I go to theme parks, not food, so yes a ride would probably make me want to venture into the area. Don't take what I'm saying literally.
  9. I think I've been to Disney World 5 or 6 times now, my last time just being a month ago. I really don't understand what people like about World Showcase. Maybe when it opened in the 70's it had some significance, but I just don't get what so special about it. It's just a bunch of shops and restaurants with two short boat rides and a few movies, which really aren't all that interesting on a repeat visit (or the first time). All the alcohol they sell are generic imports that can be found at the grocery store, but with a Disney price. I think going to the food court at the mall is a similar experience, but with much less walking. I really hope these rumors of a new country and expansion of the Japanese pavilion happen, as long as at least one of these contains a ride (that isn't a boat).
  10. I sorta don't like this project as it's not going to be as drastic of a change as it should be. I'm sure the whole queue will be updated, still keeping the airport theme but hopefully much more modern. If it sin't completly torn apart and new layout made I'll be disappointed. A giant window looking out to the... runway area with ships taking off and landing would be cool. The lack of change in the vehicles doesn't bug me too much, as to hold as many people as it does it would have to retain its box shape anyways, but I hope the motion platform its on receives a major update to have a more full rage of motion rather than the forward/backward, left/right motion of the current simulator. Since the ride is supposed to travel to different locations I'd also like to see separate gates instead of just the line of simulators but I know that's not going to happen.
  11. The blurriness of the projections doesn't really have to do with your closeness to the screen, just on screen motion. At pont on the ride where you see Hagrid asking about the dragon, there is little movement in the video and its fairly clear. Most other points in the ride there is a lot of movement and its very blurry, like a really cheap flat panel TV. The ride has OTSR to keep the rider sitting upright. Wouldn't be very good if someone was leaning far forward at the moment they got jerked upwards, they could smack their face with their knee or something.
  12. When riding it I assumed it was a large screen with a projector that moves along with the vehicle. Now that I know how it works I'm surprised the transitions to the screens is as good as it is. Now if it only had better projectors...
  13. I found the ride pretty disappointing. The video sections of the ride are incredibly blurry and I think ruin the whole experience. It's paced way too fast and way too much stuff is going on. The 2nd day I rode it the effects on the dragoin weren't working and since it doesn't move or anything it looked really bad just sitting there with the sprinklers sticking out of its mouth. Spider-man is a way better ride. The crowd control is pretty bad too but at least they are working on it. The first time I went we had to get in a line that went though Jurassic park to get a pink ticket, then get in another line and had our pink ticket to somebody to get in the area. The 2nd time on a week or so later we were given a receipt with a time to come back later, like a fastpass or something. The line for the ride also needs to be worked on. The line extends way out the entrance because of people having to put stuff in lockers. People can just go in the gift shop at the exit (which I admit to doing) and skip the whole first half of the line. There is hardly any wait for the single rider line though
  14. So they are giving out glasses to every train despite whether or not it goes through the attraction? That doesn't make sense to me, so I'd assume if they are handing you glasses before you get on it should be a big hint that your going to see it.
  15. I don't think this new area requires you to know the context of its storytelling anymore than the area there before it did. I don't see why someone that hasn't read the books n stuff would feel too left out. It's a town where wizards go with weird stuff all over the place, just as Toon Town is a place where toons go with weird stuff all over the place. As for unicorns, they actually took out all the unicorns that had existed in the area.
  16. I didn't know they were still going ahead with things like this. Are they still going to build that Sea world n stuff? Didn't know companies still wanted to be involved in this http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/oct/08/middleeast.construction
  17. Pretty cool that they are still focusing on the animal aspect of the park and opening new things. Wasn't that theater the location of a tiger show a long time ago, before they built one in the back area of the park?

  19. I'm really glad the police in LA don't actually drive BMWs. I get pulled over enough as it is. If the police were as hot as that chick though I wouldn't mind if they did.
  20. I hope that box looks mainly like a mountain or something from the Jurassic park area and not a castle. IoA doesn't seem to mind the themes bleeding though so who knows.
  21. Superman: Ride of Steel at SFNE. It was broken down.
  22. Could possibly be that some designs require it and others don't. Inverted and floor less needs stairs on both sides to get the people off and styles that have floors generally don't.
  23. I've been living in LA for half a year and I still haven't made my way over there. Looking forward to going when this is built and also finally riding Tatsu.
  24. Has a guest ever been eaten by a gator at Gatorland? Thats what I want to know.
