I'm not sure what the deal is with Powder keg, but they are listed as a manufacturer. I thought it to be purely S&S as well, but maybe Premier provided the track switch up to the launch. The turntables were merely an example. Mummy also has normal track switches as well, like the part where you stop and the bugs pour out then you drop backwards. I didn't even mention the track switch on Mr. Freeze. While they do sound like added complication to a ride, the large number of them on the Mummy rides, and the number of times those things must operate in a normal day must mean they are pretty reliable.

^Yeah.. Screamscape said that at one point the park was taking a survey for the new ride and asking what guests would want to happen in the tunnel before launching out backwards. If this being a part of the ride comes true I'm going to assume it would involve some sounds coming out of a speaker and nothing more.

I still think Superman: Ultimate Flight is more of a shuttle than normal circuit coaster. It has one train, travels back and forth on the same portion of track. I know it is connected all the way around, but I think traveling back and forth on the same piece of track defines a shuttle coaster more than that does. Not only that, but the track length of the ride is shorter than any other coaster they have ever made. Anyways back to Full Throttle. I can see this ride having trains very similar to Superman, and being full circuit with the track having multiple block sections. Similar to Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit it that aspect. If the backwards launch is true then I could see this ride having at least 3 different launches, 2 forward and 1 backwards. They are known for having moving track sections on their rides, like the turntables on mummy, or conveyor sections like on Powder keg so I can see something like that being implemented here.

I know it has been a big part of the rumors since the beginning, but I am pretty disappointed that it will be a Premier ride. I know a lot of people enjoy their rides, but I have never been to huge on them. One of the old rumors said that the train might enter the tunnel forwards, stop, then launch out backwards. This might be possible and it again supports the whole multiple launch thing. As far as rumors go it looks like the older ones are more accurate. While it's still possible it will be a full circuit coaster, its looking like it could be a shuttle, hopefully it will be more than that. Maybe they have worked on some in circuit track switching technology. Kinda like how the launch on the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars works. I guess Premier is known for having elements like that in their rides just as much as they are known for shuttle coaster.

New Amusement Park planned for... Tracy, CA?
SLUSHIE replied to XYZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The article, and the man with the plan already noted this. The whole point of this idea (in his mind) is to make the area a destination. They are fully aware that the area isn't one already. To me this whole thing kinda sounds very DCA and I don't mean just the name, I mean in the sense that they want to build things that already exist relatively locally and already have good reputation. Amusement Park- As we all know, SFDK and CGA are super close. They mention wanting to be the Disneyland of NorCal, but I'm pretty sure they just mean that in the overall sense of bringing in money, not that this place is going to necessarily be Disney quality. Since it would be brand new, that alone would give it a different feel than those existing parks, but how the actual experience and what types of rides they will build remains to be seen. Casino- NorCal already runs rampant with casinos. We have Cache Creek, Thunder Valley, Jackson Rancheria, Black Oak, and hundreds of smaller ones all over the place. I personally have never been a fan of gambling and have only been out to Thunder Valley a couple times and only actually gambled once, even though I currently live like 5 mins from it. Obviously some people do it but I think what mainly gets people to go are the other forms of entertainment they have like concerts n stuff. But if someone wants to go to a casino to gamble I'd assume they would just go to whats closest. Race Track- When I first read the words race track I assumed horse racing, but it's pretty clear I think they mean an auto circuit. The two biggest tracks in CA are Sonoma, which hosts NASCAR and Indy races among other things, and Laguna Seca which is a circuit known for being one of the best in the world. Laguna Seca hosts the US Motorcycle GP, American Le Mans Series, and is associated with one of the biggest and most renown car shows on the planet, Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance which is actually going on right now. The success of a race track is hugely dependent on what races occur there, and it seems like there isn't much left for it, unless they somehow manage to steal NASCAR or Indy away from Sonoma. Wine-Tasting Center- Don't think I need to get into this much. Why would anyone want to spend time at a wine tasting center when the real deal isn't much more than an hour away in Napa. Convention Center- Not sure what kind of scale they mean on this project. Whether they mean like full blown convention center, or just the type that you see at a number of hotels. I think large scale convention centers that hold large events benefit greatly from being in cities. Any large event would surely choose SF over this place. Delta marina- Don't know what to say here, I know nothing about them and what makes someone want to keep their boat there. I fail to see which of these things will be what makes people actually want to go there. I looked this up and Vintage Oaks appears to be an Senior Apartment complex. Uh, yeah. -
I' pretty sure the new coaster is going to use the old Log Jammer station somehow. If it wasn't, it would no longer be there. On second thought maybe it has nothing to do with the Jog Jammer station, and they just left it there because that is sorta what they like to do with old attraction buildings. Leave them there for no reason. Having the launch in the tunnel would be cool, but I think that's pretty far way from the station, and also a bit uphill. It's possible it will launch towards it, then level out to go though the tunnel, but I think it's more likely it will pas though it later on in the ride. Whatever the route, i hope they do a huge amount of renovation to the building, and to the area on the other side of the tunnel. The building and the fences on the walkway up to Samurai Summit aren't the prettiest things anymore, if they ever were. ^Talk of a coaster along the old monorail sparked an old idea I've always had. I always thought it would be cool for a park to use a coaster as a transportation ride. It would have to be a sorta family oriented ride, since if it was a thrilling major coaster it wouldn't work as transportation if there are tons of people waiting in line for it to ride it like a normal coaster. Something like Jaguar at Knotts though, but a bit more comfortable for adults would make a cool transport coaster.

The article clearly states they want to build more than just a theme park. Those other things cost money too. I just don't see this happening though and obviously the release of this information was just to get support from locals n stuff. I don't think building a resort is always a case of 'if you build it they will come.' -
The video you mention is up and it's for the most part about the carousel. At the end of the video she says to check in next week for a huge announcement and she is standing in front of the monorail tunnel. Click here to skip the boring carousel stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iCUqdG1UrI&t=0m35s

I heard about this today too. After reading that it does sound nice, but it's obviously nothing more than an idea at this point. -

So is this going to be somewhat of a dueling coaster, but single track? I looks as if its going to be launched for the 1st half, then a vertical lift and then dual with another train that would have been launched for the 2nd half. Either way it looks like its going to be pretty impressive. Can't wait to see the interlocking cobra roll and pretzel. Oh NM I guess the first part is a normal lift. The first thing that kinda came to mind when looking at this ride was Battlestar Gallactica as Universal Singapore. After realizing that's by Vekoma, nobody wants that. It does look to be a maurer sohne and I guess that's ok. -

Pretty funny about Gadget's Go Coaster. I imagine lot's of people don't really know it's origins anymore, but it's funny that you thought it had anything to do with Inspector Gadget. One of two rides in Toon Town themed to things that really don't have much cultural context anymore. I'm a big fan of Roger Rabbit, along with all the Disney cartoons of the period like Rescue Rangers, Tail Spin, Gummi Bears, Duck Tales and whatever else was on TV at the time. -
I thought this was going to have some caves n stuff. I guess evidence of this might not show up till more construction is done but it doesn't look like there is any extra foundation for some rock work in the middle potion of the ride. Hope hope it's more than just the station, or just part of the line. This ride is supposed to be themed so some extent though. When does this park shut down or operate on weekends only or whatever they do? I would expect the station, lift and first drop construction to start around then.

Here is a quote from February of Raffi Karprelyan, the General Manager at Knotts. While sometimes companies say things to be misleading, I don't think that is the case here. I certainly don't see that as meaning "We are gonna build the biggest and tallest circuit coaster in all of CA." February is too close from them to just be "talking" about doing it, but still a possibility. I do think at this point Knotts needs a bigger crowd bringer than whatever new dark ride they are capable of building, but I wouldn't rule it out. http://micechat.com/blogs/in-the-parks/3322-meet-knotts-new-manager-disneylands-splash-woes-dca-construction-progress.html

Right, but then there aren't really any likely places this would go outside the park. The reason Pony Express's last turn is covered is because there are houses literally right across the street. Yes they do have space near the grass parking lot, but they still need to use that for parking a lot the time and plus there is an Elementary school right there. A coaster of that caliber would have to go on the Beach Blvd side of the park, and where is it going to go over there? Nowhere.
-
I think the park has a bit more food than that. Looking at the map, most places are snacks, but You did leave out the 2 Johnny Rockets that serve burgers. Then there are Fish and Chips, hot dogs, corn dogs, Pulled Pork and tri-tip sandwiches, ect. I think they actually have a decent selection of junk food!

I really wished this park kept up the whole actual studio thing. I'm not sure why that failed, I guess location has something to do with it, and the demise of classic animation as well. In this day and age it really doesn't matter where something is filmed, because if the editors or whatever are in CA it's just beamed across the internet in seconds anyways. I guess most actors are already in the LA area, but I would think a Florida retreat for filming would be attractive. Maybe people just didn't find it all that entertaining, but it still seems to be working for Universal in Hollywood. With the additions Disney is adding at the Golden Oak Ranch in CA, it makes we wonder why they got rid of all that they did, just to build more somewhere else. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=golden+oak+ranch&ll=34.376056,-118.478097&spn=0.008722,0.016512&fb=1&gl=us&hq=golden+oak+ranch&cid=0,0,13327557366034258515&t=h&z=17 In the satellite image you can see they have a suburban street, as well as a city facade set. They are also supposed to be building a number of sound stages. But I think this park is in need of a revival as much as DCA was. And I don't mean plopping down cars land.
-
That's been discussed quite a bit already as well. I keep getting upset at the thought of them putting in a hyper or Giga, but I know it won't happen so I need to stop thinking about it. I know this place is owned by Cedar Fair and their claim to fame is coasters, but I hope they realize that this place shouldn't necessarily compete with Magic Mountain. This place should be the cheaper alternative for families over Disneyland. Their most recent coaster additions are Pony Express and Sierra Sidewinder. While those aren't necessarily anything the coaster enthusiast community gets excited over, those type of coasters are the type this park should be getting.
-
Your referring to the ski show stadium right? and not one of the other animal shows. I would expect this stadium to stay. If they don't have a new idea to put there I would expect them if anything to move another show to this one, and get rid of one of the other ones. This is their biggest and main stadium/pool. One of the cool things about this park is that while rides have come and gone, pretty much everything that was there when it was Marine World Africa USA is still there.

I think that was absolutely coincidence and not a Easter egg. There is actually no real evidence that if would be a Mack. Six flags has no real history with Mack coasters. The only 3 across all Six Flags parks are the Dark Knight things. That doesn't mean it couldn't be but I don't think Mack is a manufacturer that they would necessarily have in mind when building a major coaster. Except the multiple launch part though, Blue Fire really is sort of a larger scale Maverick type ride. It also has the record for being Europe's tallest launched coaster loop.

Probably not the longest but the worst experience that I can remember was waiting for Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls a few years ago. We had to of been in line for well over an hour and at some point the ride broke down, but the group I was with didn't really want to get out of line so we waited. Once your inside the building there are a lot of narrow hallways and being stuck inside there was a nightmare for me. There was also no announcement of the ride being back up, and you cant see the ride or even the loading area until your just about to get on it. It was hard to know whether the ride was open again or if it was just from people leaving further up the line. Once we got closer to getting on it was apparent that it was open again but it still moved incredibly slow. I also remember Splash Mountains line being insanely long on the same trip.
