  1. I guess it's been a few years but I never thought Ghostrider was that bad. I've been on a bunch that were way worse, though I guess most of those aren't around anymore. I've always found it enjoyable and I'm not sure what all the hate is about. I don't see the boomerang going away right now, and I for sure don't see multiple rides being taken out to be replaced with one new thing, no matter how much 'better' it would be. Knott's really just isn't big enough for more major roller coasters and I don't want to see them try.
  2. This park is like a combination of like every Disney and Universal park crammed into one. Does the Chinese population see Disneyland as being superior quality to places like this?
  3. Call it a hybrid. Screamin Swings are cool, as long as they don't cost extra to ride.
  4. Well since those rides are basically 100% made by Sally, you can look at the quality of any ride they make, not just the Six Flags ones. But at Six Flags I can think of a couple Ghost Blasters, and the Yosemite Sam ride at Fiesta Texas. If you want to look at Sally on the whole, there is Hershey park, Legoland, and a bunch of other places.
  5. The park already had 2 shuttle coasters, so why did they need a 3rd one? A launched family coaster wouldn't be confused with Superman or V2 at all, especially since it would be a complete ride. I don't think a park already having a couple (shuttle) launched coasters means they don't need anymore. In the sense of a manta type ride its just a way of giving a small coaster some speed without having to take up space with a lift hill, and possibly have the coaster be faster than a lift hill would provide anyways. And I agree with what someone else said about a dark ride a few posts back. If they put a Sally shooting ride in the place of the Dinosaur thing that would be awesome. If they just copied the other Scooby Doo ones that would be fine. The location would be perfect because its unused, and with the shrubbery and stuff there they could make it look like some old spooky house in the woods. Take out Kong and put the Manta type coaster there, and make the entrance where the old Kong entrance was and it could really revitalize that area of the park.
  6. This really might not be that bad of an idea. It might have to be a 6 across one and not 10 like the US ones, but a compact one could probably work. Heck, they could even use the already existing splash pool If they used the same station location as PP but elevated, cross the lift hill over the drop just like PP then have the drop and spash in the same spots, add the Immelmann and a helix or something and there you go.
  7. I agree with all of this. For the past few years I have wanted to see Kong go. It's had it's time. It's one of the first major rides the park put in. With the limited space the park has it shouldn't let these older rides linger and should try to focus on keeping the quality of their rides higher. Ski show absolutely needs to come back, and not in stupid Batman form or like.. any 'themed' form, just plain gold ol' talented jumping with a little bit of Lights, Motors, Action! with boats mixed in. I've had a similar wish to this, but mine was spawned more by Cheetah Hunt than Manta, but ultimately Manta would be the better style for this park. But a Mantish coaster with a Cheetah Huntish route would be good addition. The ride would start near the picnic sites along the water, go over the parking lot road, and out by the parking lot and back, maintaining a pretty low profile. Or they could just put it in Knog's spot. I'd be fine with that too.
  8. IDK, I just hope it's a B&M style massive loop, and not just a loop that is up in there air Viper style. I'd think this ride would stay in the general Log Jammer area, going though the tunnel and back with a turnaround on the other side. Is the tunnel even wide enough for that? I don't remember how big it is at all. Revolution is a bit too far over/already cramped up by Tatsu.
  9. I don't think Knott's needs a traditional hyper or giga coaster. That would absolutly ruin the whole atmosphere across a large area of the park. I'd be happy if they just replaced PP with a like wild mouse or something else that fits just in that location.
  10. I had to awkwardly stretch and skew this to get it to fit, but this is how the rendering would kinda sorta have looked in the park. By the looks of the footers, and the straight portion coming off the foundation in the left corner of that photo, it does appear the middle potion of the ride will be quite different.
  11. I think it looks pretty similar, just that render is lacking the actual banking. Depending on how tall this ends up being it does appear much shorter though, but overall the render looks much more spread out than the actual site
  12. Well I think extra height is supposed to add an extra bit of the fear factor, but I think at a certain point you become immune to that. To us, extra height just means a couple more seconds of floating free fall, but to the average not necessarily thrill seeking person its probably a much bigger deal. But not I don't think anything really needs to be much higher than 400ft. Certainly not 600ft.
  13. I'm glad that the Lion King is still relevant enough to theme a portion of a hotel after. I like the look of the rooms, but they all (Nemo and Cars ones included) look like something you could DIY if you had any carpentry/design skills. There is a good and bad thing about that. Maybe there are some things they had to have custom made, like the shower tile, but other things like the chairs n whatnot look bought. From the floor to the bedspread to the dressers, nothing looks entirely cohesive. I realize that's still more effort than the average hotel room.
  14. Is that the section that had a really awkward kink? I remember a portion of it had a turn that had like... no curvature to it.
  15. Just wait till opening day when they cover those things in fireworks!
  16. Never had the opportunity to visit this place myself, but the atmosphere looks plain awesome. It seems like a way more legit Knott's Berry Farm and a mix of like... Colonial Williamsburg or something. Kind of a shame that I don't thing the average west coast person even knows this place exists.
  17. I didn't take many photos while I was there (I never do), but I'll share some of what I took. These are from 2004 Dominator Flying Limo Monorail Cockpit Monorail Most of the Park
  18. If Riddler's smashes your crotch, your either doing it wrong or have an abnormally long torso. Or a kid. You should be closer to touching the top of the restraint with your shoulders than your crotch to the "seat," at 15 I'd think you would be tall enough.
  19. I understand what it's for, it just doesn't seem like it would have too much use that late into the circuit with so little track afterwards. Right, in terms of operation, a MCBR is only useful with a 3 train operation. It's always appeared to me that the train is never sent out of the station until the train in front has cleared the MCBR, this might just be because they are still loading passengers, but if that's the case then it doesn't matter which of those is the reason. Then with so little track after it, that 1st train is going to stack behind the 3rd for most of the time it's being loaded, So in theory (in my mind anyways) There would only be 10-15 seconds of time that 3rd train is filling (the time it takes to get from the MCBR to the final brakes). I've heard the other wing riders load slower than the typical B&M, likely do to having to regulate guests loading and exiting on 2 sides of the train at the same time. This ride is longer in length, but it is the only wing rider that will have a MCBR.
  20. Your right. Hopefully that helix has some decent forces. Regardless that's a pretty short section after the MCBR, makes you wonder why it really even needs one.
  21. I hope the supports for the ride over the park's entrance aren't too intrusive. Nothing uglier than supports sporadically in the middle of a walkway. The portions of the ride that go over the gate itself look more or less symmetrical so hopefully it doesn't look too bad, and it looks like the structures for the keyholes will also act as aesthetically pleasingish support for the ride. It also seems that Space Spiral being taken out really had nothing to do with this ride.
  22. Probably possible. Something like a non inverting loop, but starting and ending at the top. I really hope this is a major ride they have planned, and not something like Superman at SFDK. How lame would it be if this just ended up being some sort of version of that, using the old monorail tunnel/station as the station.
  23. Looks like a gatekeeper to me. Something along the lines of this.
  24. I'm amazed at how thin the support structure looks, especially those banked turns on the ground. One end is connected directly to the footer, and the other side just has one board holding it up.
