  1. I rode Mean Streak for the first time a month ago, and I didn't find it to be that rough, it was just very boring. The trims on the first drop destroy any chance of excitement on what's already a poorly designed coaster. Maybe it ran a lot better in its early years before it had the trims, but now it's a pretty pointless coaster that takes its turns at embarrassingly low speeds. Not sure if it's going to happen anytime soon, but I'm all for an RMC conversion.
  2. High Roller doesn't have a trim on its second hill, it's an anti-rollback, although it sort of acts like a trim. HR's train has always crawled over that hill, but it sounds like you're saying that it came to a complete stop there, am I right?
  3. Never. When was the last time bought a line-skipping pass (Flash Pass, Fast Lane, etc.) at a park?
  4. ^ I just don't think next year is VF's year for a coaster because the proposed plan to remove Excalibur and build the new parking lot is going to cost quite a bit of money. Like some others have said, I would rather wait 2-3 more years and get an awesome new coaster than get a coaster next year that's just average or slightly above average.
  5. I don't think Cedar Fair has any plans to sell the park, especially now that they've earmarked Valleyfair as a growth park, but it probably would have interesting if the park had been sold to Herschend or some other company. I'm glad VF was never bought by Six Flags though because even if it meant having more/better rides, it would come at the expense of every other part of the park experience.
  6. ^ I don't think we need to worry about them cutting business (as far as I know, they've been doing fine financially), but I totally agree that Valleyfair needs to step up its game soon in terms of new attractions. Every other park in the Upper Midwest has added a new coaster, or at least something more noteworthy, since VF added Renegade in 2007 (now that Adventureland is adding Monster). I'm not trying to sound like a fanboy when I say that VF needs a coaster, they need one because most the of the general public seem to think Valleyfair is pretty lame.
  7. Probably a coaster. I think the dark rides will be going to all of the bigger parks (CP, KD, KI, Carowinds) first before coming to the smaller parks. I could see them getting a coaster in 2017 or 2018, depending on what other parks get coasters that year.
  8. Teenage girls that scream at the top of their lungs before the train even leaves the station.
  9. Adventureland has announced the closure of the Log Ride and the opening of a new coaster called Monster in 2016! From the park's Facebook page: I was planning on taking a trip down there this summer since I've never been to Adventureland despite living only a few hours away, but I think I'll postpone until next year because this looks like a very fun coaster.
  10. -Vekoma SLC. -Operated at Opryland from 1995 to 1997. -Opened at Discovery Kingdom in 1998. -109 feet tall. Next: Adventure Express - Kings Island
  11. Updated list: A: Avatar Airbender B: Banshee C: California Screamin' D: Diamondback E: Excalibur (VF) F: Firehawk G: Goliath (SFGAm) H: High Roller (VF) I: Iron Dragon J: Journey to Atlantis (Orlando) K: Kraken M: Maverick O: Ozark Wildcat P: Pepsi Orange Streak R: Raptor S: Steel Venom T: Top Thrill Dragster V: Viper (SFGAm) W: Wild Thing X: X-Flight
  12. I would also recommend staying at Breakers Express if it's in your budget. It's much cheap than CP's other hotels, only five minutes from the park, and you still get early entry (which is a great time for lots of rides on Maverick and Millennium Force ).
  13. ^ Most people do follow the park rules, it's just the one or two people that don't that can ruin it for everyone else. In the case of Renegade's crew not taking action on the cameras, it's probably just specific to that crew. I was briefly stopped on High Roller's lift hill a few weeks ago because someone had their cell phone out, plus I see Wild Thing stopped all the time for cameras/phones.
  14. For the past few years, the new attraction announcements have been in September. I'd bet that we'll hear something sometime soon after Labor Day, though the Excalibur removal announcement will probably happen earlier.
  15. At the top of the Harbour Town Lighthouse in Hilton Head, SC: "This is taller than Millennium Force." (The lighthouse is only 90 feet tall.)
  16. The new Haunt building is coming along nicely. From the webcam. From Dave Frazier's Twitter.
  17. Diamondback - Kings Island
  18. It's nice that they're opening more rides earlier for gold/platinum passholders. How long have they been doing this?
  19. True. The person below me lives in a place with a cold climate.
  20. Earlier this week. When was the last time you rode an Arrow coaster?
  21. I'm also thinking that our next coaster will be located at the back of the park since there's more room there (and they need more star attractions near the back), but I'm still not convinced that we're getting a coaster next year because markers/flags for a coaster probably would've shown up back in May or June.
  22. Just a few intense moments that I find particularly memorable: -Top Thrill Dragster's launch. -The pretzel loops on Manta and S:UF. -Millennium Force's first drop. -Goliath's (SFGAm) first drop. -Maverick's first ejector airhill. -Banshee's final helix.
  23. Granted, but they are all poorly designed and trimmed to death. I wish for a clone of Maverick in my backyard.
  24. Steel: 1) Top Thrill Dragster 2) Millennium Force 3) Diamondback Wood: 1) Goliath (SFGAm) 2) Mean Streak 3) American Eagle
