  1. I hate the fact that I live less than 10 minutes away (I live about 5 minutes from the Springhill Suites) from what was once a park and I never got to visit , it's a boring mall now with the only ride being a carousel though not the one that used to be at the park.
  2. I don't think I have ever heard one good experience from this park. I was in Montreal 2 years ago but the bad operations stopped me from wanting to go. Even though I would have liked to have gotten the credits, I don't think I missed much.
  3. Yeah it's very difficult to get the front row. I was lucky to get the front row today but I think I have only gotten the front row 4 or 5 times in close to 60 rides, the back is even more difficult since they make you load front to back and if it isn't a full train you can't get the back row.
  4. Never, I would only ride with a kid if I knew them and only go on kiddie coasters without height restrictions.
  5. They really need to lower their prices. There isn't enough there for the $50 gate price. I don't know if they could pull it off but I think if they did a pay per ride system with free admission and sold wristbands for those who want unlimited tides, they would get a lot more visitors.
  6. Maybe someone who has gone on a weekend to Dorney or has gone multiple times on weekends can better clarify this but without getting into it too much, I have heard from multiple people that the crowds Dorney gets on a weekend are very different than the crowds they get on a weekday, at least during the summer. I go a lot during weekdays during the summer and weekends in May, September and October and have always felt safe.
  7. I just wish the refill prices were cheaper at Dorney. The cup is $5.99 and refills are $1.98. Not that great of a deal. That is one place Six Flags has CF beat. $9.99 for a souvenir cup (with SP coupon from the booklet) with unlimited free refills that day and $0.99 refills the rest of the season. If I didn't have to get a locker for it on almost all rides I would have bought one this year.
  8. Expedition Everest. It's a very smooth ride, cool layout for a mine train type ride and the over ride experience is great.
  9. I just looked and Dorney raised their price from $38.95 or $38.99 to $39.99. Dorney always seems to raise their price on something mid season. 2 years ago they raised parking from $8 to $9 in the middle of the season (it's $10 now) and last year they raised the 20 oz Pepsi price from $2.75 to $3.00 around September (it's now $3.50)
  10. That season pass holder at Great Adventure was referring to rise and scream. It used to be Monday - Friday every day in the summer for an hour before the park opened with ERT for SP holders on select coasters. This year it is only 3 days all on Saturday's, the last one was yesterday. They never used to let people that far into the park until around 2 weeks ago. They used to keep the rope at the carousel and it was a running of the bulls. I guess they didn't want to take a chance on someone getting hurt or maybe someone did get hurt.
  11. The launch isn't that strong, especially when compared to Kingda Ka but it's a fun ride, especially going up the back spike and on the 2nd trip up the back spike the holding brake adds to the thrill. It didn't replace Talon as my favorite coaster in the park but it is a good addition to Dorney.
  12. Sounds like it was very crowded for a weekday. I guess El Toro closed made lines longer. It's a shame you weren't able to get to Dorney instead as lines would have not been nearly as bad. I went last Monday and all coasters were less than 5 minute waits except the Wild Mouse.
  13. If you are 14 or 15, you can't work past 7:00 p.m. on school nights and can't work more than 18 hours during the week in the school year. I'm not sure if that is national or just applies to our area.
  14. Pepsi cans offer $6 off, you need to look before you buy them though (if you bought them in a 12 pack, you can roll the can in the handle opening to see if it has the coupon) because some have Sesame Place discounts instead of Dorney. edit, I went to their webpage: Yes, discounts on admission are available throughout the 2008 season at various locations. Tickets During the Summer Season, discounted admission tickets are available for purchase at participating ACME Supermarkets. During the Summer Season, discounted admission tickets are available for purchase at participating Weis, Kings and Mr. Z's Supermarkets. During the Summer Season, admission tickets are available for purchase to AAA members at participating AAA offices. AAA discounts are NOT available in-person at the Park Entrance. Coupons Participating Subway, Dunkin Donuts and Taco Bell stores in June, Burger King in July and Wendy’s in August. The offer is $32.99 Mon-Fri (except holidays) and $34.99 for Sat & Sun and May 26, July 4 and Sept 1. Also find specially marked cans of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew and Sierra Mist! --------- There is a Weis about a mile from the park, you go down Hamilton Blvd, go to Cedar Crest Blvd (I think that is the street name) and it is in Cedar Point Plaza (funny name considering it's so close to Dorney)
  15. A new Walmart Supercenter just opened up in my area 2 months ago, I'll have to see what color it is, I didn't know different colors are for different sized stores.
  16. I agree with your entire post. It was a halfway attempt at a waterpark and now they have to tear out other popular rides to try to make it a full scale waterpark.
  17. I agree about the Jersey Junkyard dark ride. I wasted 15 minute waiting for it 3 years ago. I don't think I would ride it again unless it was a walk on.
  18. How did Atlantic City make the list and not Ocean City NJ or Wildwood? Atlantic City's boardwalk is horrible. Tons of junk shops, people begging for money, Steel Pier is an overpriced carnival complete with the game vendors trying to get you to play (more than in a regular park) and food places I'd question to eat at. Ventnor's boardwalk is quiet and nice but the lack of anything makes it boring.
  19. On GeaugaLakeToday.com it has the auction prices. I think Double Loop went for $25,000
  20. I have always found these types of contests interesting. I would never have a chance, after 6 laps on Nitro last month without leaving my seat I was starting to feel a little sick, I can't imagine riding any coaster nonstop for more than an hour.
  21. I agree with those 2. Great White's drop out of the station is 50 feet, which is a nice size drop for the start of the ride.
  22. I wish they would just open the Golden Nugget on the pier its currently on It's $45 for a wristband on a normal day. The best deal is on Tuesday, they open at 12:30 and they sell a wristband for $20 that expires at 6:00. I considered getting a season pass but since I am under 26 it's $350! ($260 for anyone 26 and older). I'd have to visit 8 times at the regular price for it to pay for itself.
  23. I can't believe how long of a wait both mice coasters were in the park. I would have thought both would be shorter than 2 hour for 1 and 50 minutes for the other since they are so similar.
  24. Everyone runs to The Dark Knight and Kingda Ka at opening, I would get try to get those out of the way first and Superman since that always has a long, slow moving line. That and El Toro are the 4 coasters with the longest lines at the park. Medusa opens at 12:00, if possible get there right at 12 (or a few minutes early if there is a line of people waiting for it to open) so you can ride it without a wait.
