  1. I was going to wait before buying a new system but I couldn't pass up a deal I saw for the Wii U. NewEgg has the Skylanders Swap Force bundle with Nintendoland for $219.99. I'm going to sell the Skylanders Set. One of the figures is worth around $50 and if I can get $40 for the rest of the Skylanders Set it will end up costing around $140 for the console (factoring in EBay and Paypal fees on the Skylanders stuff I sell). Now I just need to wait for a deal on Super Mario Land and wait for Mario Kart 8 to be released.
  2. First coaster - I'm not sure, maybe Dragon at Boardwalk and Baseball. First steel coaster- same as above? 3. sooperdooperlooper, it's one of my favorite coasters and just a fun ride that isn't too intense to marathon.
  4. I guess that's why. It would be nice if parks that had those rules would allow people to ride without kids if there is no line, especially if its a unique ride. I really wanted to try Pteradon Flyers at IoA and the posted wait was 5 minutes but they refused us and others trying to ride without a kid.
  5. Great Adventure and Dorney have the same model as well and allow adults to ride without a kid, I'm expecting Hershey to say over 60" and you need a kid to ride since all their kiddie rides don't allow adults without kids. The picture looks like it is from Great Adventure.
  6. I like that picture of the entrance to Bizarro. It's nice that SFNE decided to open into November this year. I wish more parks in the Northeast would try that (besides the ones that run holiday events later in the month and December with no coasters running).
  7. The only time Dorney gets lines are Friday's in May, summer weekends and Saturday's in October and sometimes later in the day after the waterpark closes. Fast Lane shouldn't be needed there. I don't think I waited in a line for a coaster for more than 5 - 10 minutes in any trip to the Dorney the past 2 seasons.
  8. Hot Shots Golf is really good if you like arcade style golf games. I would avoid Little Deviants, that's the only Vita game I have that I really don't like (it came bundled with my system).
  9. Hopefully you are not going to the park until the end of May since Kingda Ka is going to be closed for the beginning of the season until Zumanjaro opens (or at least until the ride construction is finished) which is probably Memorial Day weekend.
  10. Both coasters like amazing. The recreation of Kumba especially was cool. Nice job.
  11. They used to until I think sometime in the 70s. The dark ride factory tour is fun but it would be nice to see the real thing too.
  12. A B&M family inverted coaster sounds interesting. Hopefully if it ends up turning out to be a good coaster, more of them show up especially at family parks that want something not to thrilling.
  13. I like watching POV videos to get an idea of what a ride does, especially if it's a coaster I know I will never get to but I wouldn't use it to decide how good a ride will be but they are fun to watch during the offseason, even for coasters you have already ridden.
  14. I never found Kingda Ka so rough that its unrideable but I generally try to go for the first 2 cars since it is smoother. I usually won't wait for the front unless the wait is only a few minutes extra (for some reason once in a while people don't go to the front row line making it not much of a longer wait), otherwise my preferred row is the 2nd row.
  15. I prefer somewhere in the middle of forceful and not forceful. Hydra is kind of boring because there are no forces at all and it feels like you are just gliding around but at the total opposite there is a ride like Batman The Ride or Kumba that are great coasters but so forceful, after 2 or 3 laps in a row I need to take a break and go to a less forceful coaster.
  16. It's been in the mid 20s to mid 30s near me. I really hope it warms up soon. I've been considering a trip to Hershey maybe sometime in the next couple of weeks and there is no way I want to walk around the park with a windchill of under 20 degrees.
  17. Right now my favorite bands are New Found Glory and Simple Plan.
  18. I like Kingda Ka but it's not even close to being my favorite steel coaster in the park. I will usually only wait 15 to 20 minutes at the most for it and on the days when the park isn't crowded and it's a walk on or 5 - 10 minute wait, I try to get multiple laps in on those days. I remember opening year it was common to hear that the wait was 3+ hours and I don't think I would have been willing to wait that long.
  19. I like Nitro's station music. It is the Mortal Kombat theme. For background music I like the music played at the entrance area to Future World at EPCOT.
  20. Not really a major situation but the only thing I can think of is during bar trivia that I usually go around every other week (I have been going for years and there has never been a roller coaster question ) one of the questions that helped us win the round was "What state has the largest part of the Ozarks?" Since I knew about Ozark Wildcat at Celebration City just from reading trip reports and forums, I knew it was Missouri. I think we won a $15 gift certificate for that round (each round is 10 questions but usually the scores are close where 1 question can make the difference between winning or not).
  21. I hope the new coaster is ready for opening day but am not expecting it. I have never been to SFA but seeing that Great Adventure is opening 3 weeks later next season compared to this past season and SF's website still says SFA is opening in March I am considering taking a trip to SFA for opening weekend so my coaster season can start early.
  22. Around $3000 on a trip to Disney World (for 4 people).
  23. The day of Hurricane Irene I had to be up in Allentown, PA. Other parks in the area like Hershey hadn't bothered to open that day because of the weather but for some reason Dorney was open and at 4:00 it wasn't raining so I decided to stop in for some coaster rides. There was basically no one there (since who would plan to go to a park the day of a Hurricane) and for around 30 minutes I was enjoying the walk ons to the coasters then at Steel Force the skies opened up and it was a downpour. I think if they had waited another 20 seconds to dispatch the train they wouldn't have because of how bad it suddenly started to pour. A few minutes after that they announced the park was closing. I would have never gone to the park if I wasn't in the area. The other bad weather day was a Friday night Fright Fest at Great Adventure in September 2012. It wasn't supposed to rain but started to pour and Adventure Alley was flooded near Sky Screamer. Kids were running through the puddles despite guards telling them not to and the only ride not closed was The Dark Knight. When the rain got a little better, Skull Mountain reopened so I stopped there and then left because I was soaked. I still managed around 15 rides in 3 hours that night so it still was a successful trip to the park. Here are some pictures of the flooding: In this picture you can see the guard at the edge of the puddle. Another one in 2006 in July at Dorney there was a bad thunderstorm with lightning and every ride closed except The Whip and Music Express. Even though it was a stupid thing to do, I decided to ride The Whip and in the middle of the cycle, the power went out. Thankfully it was a ride that doesn't leave the ground.
  24. The amount of videos and photos / trip reports posted is great and there are more posted here than any other amusement park or theme park site that cover multiple parks.
  25. Rolling Thunder. You have the switchback in the station and then the waiting rows don't have much room and can hold 2 trains worth of people at the most and then they are blocking all the other rows so you have people waiting in the station in the switchback and if the others don't move up to fill in empty rows (if a lot of people are waiting for the last few rows) then some rows might not have people waiting for them which gives people just entering the station the opportunity to climb over the switchback to take an empty row and cut the people still in line in the station. I guess it doesn't matter now though since the ride is gone.
