I was there from 5 to 10 and I also thought it was very crowded. Kingda Ka had the switchbacks full and part of the overflow queue was full too. The person at the entrance said it was a 2 hour wait but I don't think it was that bad because the person at Nitro said it was 90 minutes and took only 35 minutes. Even Rolling Thunder had a line almost to the entrance but no switchbacks were being used. In the 5 hours I managed to ride Nitro twice, The Dark Knight, Tango, Bizarro, Skyway, Skull Mountain and The Log Flume once each and Rolling Thunder 3 times (I waited until 9:20 when it was a 2 train wait and then a walk on) and Runaway Mine Train twice.

Photo TR: A Great Credit Run Through NJ & PA!

I didn't realize Sesame Place had gotten so expensive. I used to go there all the time when I was a kid before they had any rides (back then it was all water slides and playgrounds/net climbs) but am glad I did manage to get the credit on one of my final trips there before everyone in my family outgrew the park. -
All day pricing is I think $13 and are in Adventure Alley and The Boardwalk. They also have an option for the one time use ones for $8 that allows you to use them as much as you want from ride to ride. I think all coasters allow the cups to be stored in the station except The Dark Knight where the cup holders are right at the entrance to the queue.

I'd miss the parachutes. I usually ride the parachutes almost every trip to the park. It seems like they are running more of the parachutes more often now too with 4 or 6 running instead of only 2 like years ago. I just wish you were up at the top for more than a few seconds before the parachute starts lowering.

Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread

When I was there almost 2 weeks ago I noticed the same thing. I paid attention to the signs at the rides that said they closed early and was sure to ride those first but I went to the Whip after 9:00 and found it closed. It wasn't that big of a deal since one of my local parks (Dorney) also has a Whip but I was lucky to go to Noah's Ark when I did since around 15 minutes later it was closed for the night. Neither of those rides had signs saying they close early. -
And at the expense of a good family ride (Krazy Kars). I rode Demon Drop a few times in 2010 and 2011 and went right back to Dominator. Even today when the park wasn't crowded Demon Drop was cycling empty cars while Dominator didn't have much of a line but was running with mostly full cars. It's been like that most times I go to the park after the first couple of years Demon Drop was open. I agree with the rest of your post too. I was against Stinger as soon as I heard it was coming to Dorney and tried to give it a chance and rode the coaster during my first few trips to the park in 2012. Since then I have ridden the coaster a couple of times. Besides that I don't like the coaster that much, it isn't fun not knowing if the ride is going to be breakdown for more than a few minutes like it already has multiple times last year and at least once this year.

Sky Rocket at Kennywood on Monday night. -
The one time use ones that are near Thunder Canyon and White Water Landing have been trouble for years. I had problems with them eating money and not opening after I went back to it. Even though it's more expensive (even with the season pass discount), I use the all day ones in WWK instead when I am going to WWK and riding Thunder Canyon and White Water Landing. Hopefully they get replaced next year.

Nitro around 6 hours ago. -
You get to choose where you want to sit for all rides except Skull Mountain where you get car 5. All other coasters merge at the station with the regular line. You get to stay on the ride without leaving your seat for the 2nd ride. The only ride closed right now is Twister (it has been closed since at least last week)

There used to be a path that took you from the Golden Kingdom to Plaza Del Carnaval but they closed it in 2011 (there also were some kiddie rides and play areas along the path). During the day when Safari Discoveries is open you can walk through there to get from Kingda Ka to El Toro but it closes at 6:00. Kingda Ka also used to have a viewing area right near the launch track where people could watch the ride but after an incident in 2005, they closed it off along with the original queue that used to take you under the launch track.

The only bad thing about Planet Snoopy is the monorail has a height restriction of anyone over 54" having to ride with a kid when I don't think the other parks in the chain with the same ride have that rule. The first couple of weeks it was open it didn't have that restriction, but most of the time it is cycling empty cars anyway. I guess it's similar to the Scrambler, where Dorney had a rule of no single riders when other CF parks allow single riders on their scramblers.

Nitro 4 hours ago -
There are no events going on that day which is good. Since not all schools will be out by then I would expect moderate crowds (probably 10 - 15 minutes for the smaller coasters, 30 - 60 minutes for the larger coasters). Sunday mornings are usually not crowded at all so even if crowds pick up later you should be able to get a lot of rides in, between 10:30 - 12:00.
