  1. After a five month hiatus from concert going, I got back into the action last night in Toronto to see Overkill. In support were Black Cloud Syndicate and Prong who both put on good shows. Overkill is now firmly on my "must see when they come to town" list as they put on another great set. Can't wait to inevitably see them again. And because I really am that much of a nerd, Black Cloud Syndicate and Prong were bands 158 and 159 I've seen respectively (I had already seen Overkill before). Here are pictures. Hurrah. Black Cloud Syndicate! Prong! Overkill!
  2. Cedar Fair - Intimidator 305 Six Flags - El Toro Sea World - Alpengeist Disney - Big Thunder Mountain (Disneyland) Universal - Fire Dragon (it will always be this to me) Herschend - Outlaw Run Palace Entertainment - Boulder Dash
  3. Mine was The Incredible Hulk at IOA. I want to say this was in 2000...but I'm not 100% sure.
  4. I'm torn on this. I like the idea of converting the ride since it breathes new life into it. But...it's still Mantis. You're just sitting down now. I suppose the only real test will come next year when it re-opens. Also...we're all missing the big picture here. New credit or not?
  5. I'm currently reading "Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader: North Korea and the Kim Dynasty" (just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?) by Bradley Martin. It's a fascinating read into how the Kims came to power and how they've managed to hold on to it for so long.
  6. As much as I would absolutely love to see that happen, I think the park will stick with B&M for the foreseeable future mainly due to their rides being people eaters.
  7. The two roughest coasters I've been on are Hades 360 and Ghostrider. During both rides, I kept thinking "oh god, when will it end". Hades 360 at least has a cool inversion that is actually fun. There was no fun to be found on Ghostrider, only sorrow. (Dis)Honourable mentions also go to Vortex (CGA), Flight Deck (CW) and Ninja (SFStL).
  8. I've only been on Outlaw Run, so I guess that wins by default. I didn't vote in the poll though since I can't judge them without riding.
  9. ^ Maybe it will get people to actually stay and watch the movie now.
  10. Booooooo....I loved The Maelstrom and looked forward to it every time I was at EPCOT. But...I get it. The ride is pretty old and dated and it's time for a change. Frozen is a great choice to take over.
  11. OK, a decent woodie would be nice too. I've kind of developed a soft spot for the newer GCI's recently, so I wouldn't be opposed to that either.
  12. since it is already there, don't tear it down. build a huge queue with shiny things and themeing so it will keep more people away from the real rides. anyhoo, on to more important things: Has anybody seen if they are starting to dismantle skyrider yet? Is there any news on what the new attraction that will replace it will be? I am a fan of floorless coasters and B&M inverts. I would like to see a modern looping coaster. I was looking at kraken at sea world in orlando, and it is beautiful I've been saying for years that the thing the park needs more than anything else is a modern sit down looper. A floorless or even a standard sit down would be great to have. Granted, it's not the marquee attraction that the park seems to have be going for recently (e.g., Behemoth and Leviathan) but I think it would go over well with the GP.
  13. ^ Spiderman, Transformers (and to a lesser extent, DarKastle) are prohibitively expensive to any park not named Universal or Busch. They're incredible experiences, but most parks simply can't afford to spend that kind of money on a dark ride. Does WMG have its faults? Definitely. But, it's still a fun ride overall and I don't hear many complaints about it when people exit the ride. To just say "TAER IT DOWN!!!1!" is going more than a bit far.
  14. I'm an insurance claims adjuster. I handle corporate liability claims, focusing mainly on bodily injury. Essentially, if you slip and fall in a store and get hurt, I'm the guy you talk to. Within the last year, I've started handling complex injury claims with more substantial injuries (in fact, I'm looking at a stack of medical documents right now...oh joy). I also deal with litigation files every now and then. I've only had to go to court for work once, but I suspect that will change as I progress in my career.
  15. My favourite is by far SFNE's Bizarro. Hearing "Come my friends, it is not too late to seek a newer world...OR IS IT?!" just as you crest the lift is awesome.
  16. Great Escape - 7 La Ronde - 7 Six Flags America - 9 Six Flags Discovery Kingdom - 10 Six Flags Fiesta Texas - 12 Six Flags Great Adventure - 11 Six Flags Great America - 14 Six Flags Magic Mountain - 6 Six Flags Mexico - 10 Six Flags New England - 10 Six Flags Over Georgia - 11 Six Flags Over Texas - 13 Six Flags St. Louis - 10 Full disclosure: I haven't been to SFDK, SFoG and Mexico
  17. ^ Agreed on so many levels. Rammstein was a bucket list concert for me and I really hope they don't take another 10 years to come back.
  18. Vortex at Canada's Wonderland on August 31. It's strange and weird to me that it's not Leviathan. Oh well.
  19. I was able to get a couple of milestones this summer: Wonder Mountain's Guardian was my 200th steel coaster. Well...if you can call that a coaster. I do...so whatever. Demon (CGA) was my 300th coaster. I sure know how to pick 'em. Saddest sign ever.
  20. It's an ambitious trip, to be sure, but perhaps it's a bit too ambitious. To spend an entire day at KD and then drive the five hours to Carowinds would be absolute hell on your body. By the end of the trip, you'll have zero energy and probably hate everyone you're with. The trip is doable if it's spread out a bit more. For instance, spend a night in hotel after big parks like KD or Carowinds. Also, parks like Dollywood or Kennywood aren't "run and gun" credit stops. They're places you should really take your time to enjoy and experience. Just my opinion, of course. Your mileage may vary.
  21. Joan Rivers has passed away at the age of 81 according to her daughter.
