  1. That was a fantastic report of our day at SDC. It definitely brought back some good memories.
  2. For me, the three closest are Canada's Wonderland, Marineland and Martin's Fantasy Island. I really should go back to Martin's one of these days...
  3. The was surprising to see that when it happened! Basically the attendant went up the left side of the train checking the lapbars and when she got to around the middle of the train, she tugged on it and it came all the way open. Next a maintenance guy came over, tightened a bolt of the side of the car and the lapbar tightened up again. I swear we were the first train of the day considering that is also something that would've been caught in the morning test-runs if they had any. I was in the car that that happened on, though luckily it was on the seat next to mine. Still...I was pretty damn nervous about that ride.
  4. All will be answered on Passholder Preview Night. Or before if they release a POV. Either way, I'm now pretty excited for this.
  5. The low point in my life was borrowing a kid to get the kiddie credit at La Ronde. Eternal shame was the trade off for that credit. I probably wouldn't do anything like that again.
  6. The "winner" of this for me is easily La Ronde. The place is dirty, the ride ops are uncaring and truly terrible operations make for a horrible day. What Brent mentioned about 45 minutes for the SLC after check in with a Gold Q-Bot has happened on both of my visits to the park. Honourable mentions go to Six Flags America. Pretty much the same problems as La Ronde, just not as bad.
  7. I've been on two coasters with Timberliners, Wooden Warrior and Hades 360. I loved Wooden Warrior and thought the Timberliners were great and comfortable. Hades 360 was well...yeah. I can't speak to what Hades was like before the new trains, but it didn't feel like they made any impact at all. While they were still generally comfortable, they did nothing to help the smoothness of the ride. Your mileage may vary of course.
  8. I've been on standups from B&M, Intamin and TOGO. There is not a single one I would willingly ride if I didn't need the credit. They're uncomfortable, awkward and just not that much fun. Hell, KD's Shockwave is in my bottom 5. The only one I have modest hopes for is Riddler's Revenge. Hopefully that won't be a let down.
  9. ^ I'm trying not to get too excited, lest I be let down. I'll probably enjoy it since I love dark rides in general. However, I'm not expecting it to be of Spiderman or Darkastle caliber. Feel free to prove me wrong though, Wonderland.
  10. ^^ He probably gets a kick out of watching us freak out and try to guess what it is. I know I would at least
  11. This is exciting news! When a project gets teased two years out, you know it's going to be something revolutionary. Or at least when it starts getting big TPR hype. Time to start saving for the 2016 TPR Scandi Trip. Prediction: Launched inverted hyper woodie aquatrax (this is finally going to be the one!)
  12. *cough*bullsh*t*cough* Atari is going to try and go into massive damage control. But the damage has already been done. I think Robb touched on this earlier, but if the games are completely different, why lead with the mobile version? Why not show what you can do with the "standalone" PC game?
  13. So...I guess this makes it one of the biggest ride failures ever then? The only other one I can think of that's comparable is Vertigo that was at Walibi Belgium.
  14. I still haven't been to SFMM, SFoG, SFDK or Mexico, but out of the ones I have been to, I would probably rank them accordingly: 1. Fiesta Texas 2. The Great Escape (yeah, it's not flagged, but whatever) 3. Great Adventure 4. Great America 5. New England 6. St. Louis 7. Texas 8. America 9. La Ronde
  15. Aw man! I'm making my first trip to Idlewild this summer and was really looking forward to the Mr. Rogers Neighborhood section. I'm actually really sad about this.
  16. When I was growing up, my family would always go to Virginia Beach for vacation in the summer. During the trip, we would always stop for a few days in Williamsburg for shopping (what's up, Williamsburg Pottery!), colonial history stuff that I always found boring and Busch Gardens. Back then, I was pretty scared of coasters and would pretty much only ride Big Bad Wolf even though the second drop terrified me. This all changed in '97 when the park installed Alpengeist. For some reason, I was determined to ride it, no matter what. After being hesitant in line, I ended up getting on the ride and had one of those "come to God" moments. I got off and thought "THIS. IS. AMAZING." and became instantly hooked. From there, I started looking for bigger and better rides to get on. The rest as they say, is history...
  17. There's really not a whole lot to see in Virginia Beach, scenery wise. If you're a tourist, chances are you're staying at a hotel with an ocean view anyway. I'd rather pay the $1 (at least it was that when I was last there) to walk out onto the pier than go up in a ferris wheel.
  18. I'd love to see a water park expansion/revitalization at Canada's Wonderland. Splash Works is pretty old and is showing its age.
  19. One of the more recent "surprise" soakings took place at SFFT last summer. We were coming up over the second lift and the front of the boat decided to go underwater, causing a tidal wave to rush into the front, completely soaking me. Normally, I know what to expect from a flume and I only get surprised when someone has impeccable timing with the water cannons. I got struck dead on by some guy at Kings Dominion in 2012. All I could do was laugh and give him a high five after getting off the ride.
  20. I really enjoyed my time at Magic Springs. I'm still sad my group never got on the kiddie credit there (every time we went by, it was broken down) but it was still fun. The only negative was the mountain you have climb to get back out of the park. Because I'm lazy.
  21. Volbeat - "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry"
  22. Backwards Viper did kick a lot of butt, though I am sad we missed the Batman conversion.
  23. Anyone know how long the SFMM namtaB experiment is going to last? I don't think it will last until I get there in June, but here's hoping!
  24. I signed up for the Canada's Wonderland event a while ago. I will always support this charity and participate in this event. It feels good to be able to give something back and help people who really need it.
