  1. As much as I'd loved to participate, the timing just doesn't work out for us this year, as we're getting married in mid-July. Hopefully everything goes well for you guys so future opportunities may still exist!
  2. Six Flags includes Marvel characters in their surveys testing DC character awareness in order to have a baseline comparison to the competition. They've included them in those types of surveys for the last few years now. You not only want to avoid using DC characters people have never heard of, but also any DC characters people are going to incorrectly associate with a corresponding Marvel character instead (ex: Green Arrow vs Hawkeye).
  3. BURN VALLEYFAIR TO THE GROUND IN A FIRE OF MIDNIGHT GREEN! DROWN THEM IN A SEA OF CHOPPED RIBEYE AND CHEEZ-WHIZ! E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!!!!!!! *ahem* Should be a fun little wager!
  4. I'm sure both the park and the manufacturer have a contingency plan in for lift-hill evacuations. There's no way they would've been granted permits without one. Not all coasters evacuate lift hills with staircases (ex: Eurofighters).
  5. DUDE! My first Chaos was the one at Rehoboth Beach, too! My mom and her friend scrounged together enough money for our collective families to rent a house down in Rehoboth for two weeks back in the late 90s (1998?), and on our first night there, we were exploring the boardwalk and came across it. Never seeing one before, I was both eager and nervous to give it a try. I think I ended up spending at least a third of the two weeks parked on that thing. I was super excited to see one installed at SFGAdv the next year. Glad to hear you got a nice hit of nostalgia!
  6. This is awesome! Kudos for taking the time out of your schedule to tackle such a project! Overall I had some of the same issues already documented (dragging in Chrome, saving issues, etc), but I'm sure those'll be worked out in time. I'm more curious about how much you think you'll be able to build out the search functionality. I didn't have much trouble finding a coaster if I knew a specific name or park, but are there any plans to build it out more like the tree functionality RCDB uses for its searches? For example, if I wanted to pull up all coasters currently Florida, would I be able to do that? Currently, it seems strictly based off of a text string search - "ID" gives me Idaho coasters and every coaster / demographic with the text string "ID" in it, whereas "Idaho" comes up with nothing. Also, is there an intended purpose for the 'Keep Looking" button? I never ran across a search where it was activated and clickable. Again, awesome job so far!
  7. ^ Time will tell, I guess, but this tentatively looks like the next chapter in a long line of overzealous marketing ploys that ultimately under-deliver.
  8. The way the survey was structured leads me to believe they're really trying to push people to memberships instead of season passes. The first group of questions could be summed up as "Hey, did you realize memberships were super awesome and are just as cool as those season passes please think they're pretty oh so pretty?", and all of the proposed tiers had only membership prices given. No word on how they plan to roll season passes into these proposals.
  9. The survey I took about the proposed new tiers had Diamond Elite priced at a proposed $19.10 per month for memberships.
  10. I'd rather have a shorter ride that doesn't beat the crap out of me than a longer one that does. Guess there always has to be something for someone to complain about, though.
  11. Ryan, that video is awesome! I especially loved the last couple of minutes of it with the added comments! Question for you - any chance you have any information on what the park plans to do with the remaining piece of Rolling Thunder? I remember when the coaster was newly demolished talk was that they left that portion up as a bit of a tribute and planned to permanently adhere the old trains to the section. Was that at one point in the works, only to be cancelled by constraints (budget, logistics, etc), or something still in the works, just on the back burner?
  12. I have a sudden craving for some Bo-Berry Biscuits now. Why don't you just take a screenshot of the page and post it? EDIT: Nevermind, I found the page you were trying to link to and saw that the "evidence" that the coaster is coming to the US is a random comment from a random dude. In other words, not evidence. Carry on.
  13. ^ You may want to take a look at the URL you posted.
  14. That's awesome. Glad to see there's a quirky sense of humor at the park.
  15. My Eagles... Oh, what could've been...
  16. It's a disappointing way to end the season, but not surprising at all. I'm bummed for Six Flags, this is all something out of their hands. I just hope it doesn't drastically affect their bottom line or cause them to rethink future HitPs.
  17. Womp. Can't say I didn't see this coming. Should've visited one last time while I had the chance. Oh well.
  18. ^ You sure about that? Maybe your head was just too numb from the cold to be able to feel it.
  19. ^ That's a bummer. Totally understandable, but it's definitely an anticlimactic way to finish the season.
  20. For the last several weeks I've been looking all over for an SNES Classic. I finally found one tonight at the Best Buy by my office - the last one in stock! I've been playing a bunch of retro SNES games all night.
  21. I'm not surprised if it's busy. I think people in our area are more willing to tolerate colder temperatures as long as it's a sunny day. If it were overcast today I'd be a lot more surprised.
