Where Are You Going in 2018?

^ I think you're going to really enjoy the Hershey Lodge. I feel it's going to deliver on the level of comfort that you tend to look for based on your hotel preferences. BTW, never thanked you for the recommendation on the Hyatt Rewards card. I signed up for it last spring and made it mine and Rikki's primary card. It's helped ensure our lodging expenses on our honeymoon are a tiny fraction of the normal cost. -

Okay, so the honeymoon plans have changed a bit. Instead of spending two weeks in the Netherlands, we're cutting that in half and spending a week in Great Britain. As a result, Alton Towers, BPB, and Thorpe Park are all on the radar now. I don't think Rikki will tolerate having a honeymoon that's 75% coasters, so I'm going to have to see what I can do without. -
A king-size Sleep Number iLE Innovation Series bed. Got it for 50% off, too, so I saved a few thousand bucks! First big non-car purchase. #adulting

Have to admit, that looks pretty cool. -

Are you on the website at work? The web security settings at my office sometimes prevent certain images or videos from popping up, but it works just fine from home or on my phone. The security settings may be the issue. -

FWIW, prior to my visit to the park, I thought carousels were boring and stupid. I rode it begrudgingly, only because of the feedback from others, and I ended up riding it about six times during my visit. The brass rings are addicting, and if you and Emily are competitive people, you'll want the bragging rights. I recommend at least one ride. -

I think eight hours on Sunday is enough for you to be able to get a good Knoebels experience. You may not get the chance for several re-rides, but you should be able to do everything at least once. -

You summed it up as best as I think anyone could. My idea of roughing it is a mid-range motel. #IndoorKitty -

For the record, I do not condone acts of vandalism at all, let alone as part of any championship celebration. Anyone who participated in such acts in Philly last night should be ashamed of themselves. That said, though, people love to act like Philly is this depraved, lawless, modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah. Celebrations last night were no more destructive than those recently. Last night in Philly: One car is tipped on its side, an awning collapses, and some street lights are brought down. In total, three arrests have been reported. Meanwhile, in other cities: Of interesting note, in the Boston area last night, angry Patriots fans "began throwing objects, setting off smoke bombs, fireworks and starting fistfights", leading to six arrests. San Francisco rioted after its third World Series win in five years, including burning a f**king bus. Seattle had plenty of reports of vandalism and bonfires, and even damaged historic structures in the process. Denver retaliated against police, ultimately leading to 12 arrests. That's nothing compared to what the city did in 1999, either. How about the full blown riots in Vancouver after Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup finals? (Of special note are the details from other cities, such as the "ugly orgy of violence and looting" in Chicago after their 1992 NBA Finals win, leading to more than 1,000 arrests and $10 million in damage. Boston isn't much better, either. Look, as I said, I in no way, shape, or form condone ANY acts of violence or vandalism and am sorely disappointed in any Eagles fan who participated in such acts last night. But don't give me any of this hypocritical crap that we're far and away worse than any other sports city. -

You have to have a pretty big tolerance of "camping"-related things when staying at Knoebels. The facilities at the campsites are essentially as clean as they'll ever get for what they are. When I showered during my stay, there were daddy long-legs crawling on the ceiling. I recognize that it's to be expected when camping, but I also consider anything remotely related to camping to be f**king awful and suffered through it only because Rikki is some masochist or something and likes it. If it's just for one night, maybe suffer through it, as the proximity to the park really can't be beat, but if your tolerance level is worse than mine, you might be better off at finding something else. -

It’s 3am, I’m exhausted, but I can’t stop watching coverage. I just can't stop smiling. After all this time... finally. -

Clever name! I approve. -
^^ You say that like there isn't this thing called money that the park would need to shell out. That kind of addition would require a level of capital current corporate management would never, ever lay out. It's annoying that the park is as fragmented as it is, sure, but any discussion about "closing the loop" just isn't grounded in reality.

Glad to see something could still be worked out that doesn't greatly impact what Six Flags initially set out to accomplish in the first place. However, there will be a little more than just a whiff of hypocrisy in the air if these people barely even raise a stink over the construction of the recently approved hotel and sports complex that is scheduled to rip up about 75 acres of trees right next door.

Rikki and I spent a couple days at BGW last summer. While we both enjoyed DarKastle, we both agreed it was a "one and done" ride to us. I'm not losing any sleep over its removal. However, I do agree with the operational sentiments that have been shared so far. I hope the reasons they ultimately decided to remove it outweigh how its removal impacts the visitor experience on rainy / cold weather days.

Six Flags includes Marvel characters in their surveys testing DC character awareness in order to have a baseline comparison to the competition. They've included them in those types of surveys for the last few years now. You not only want to avoid using DC characters people have never heard of, but also any DC characters people are going to incorrectly associate with a corresponding Marvel character instead (ex: Green Arrow vs Hawkeye).
