  1. I am curious to see how the "SoCal residents only" rule will be enforced. I am personally in a gray area for this, because the billing address for my pass is in CA, the IP address of purchasing the pass is CA, and my phone number is CA. But I am a college student in Utah who hasn't been living in CA for several months, so I am technically out-of-state? Kinda strange. I really don't understand this rule anyway (I know it's California and not Six Flags). Anybody can come visit Knott's right now for the festival, but once the coasters open, only SoCal residents? I don't know. I'm just crossing my fingers that I can visit the parks when I come back home in May. Of course I will adhere to whatever rules they have in place. It would just be a bummer if they consider me out-of-state.
  2. This perfectly sums up my thoughts. Between this and Velocicoaster (not to mention Hagrid's too), I am stoked that Intamin has a new presence in the U.S. I really hope they can form a new relationship with Cedar Fair because that is the only other chain I can see spending the money needed for a large scale Intamin like this. Also, I hate saying things like "[this] will be the best in the world!" but, uh, yeah. That 95-degree drop off the top hat towards the river with no trims is going to be one of the best drops in the world.
  3. Officially accepted a great job offer in Florida! I'm so excited! I move there in June.
  4. Nice report. Mr. Freeze was the star of the show when I visited in December 2019. I was expecting it to be good, but it blew me away. It's right up my alley in terms of coasters I tend to prefer. Texas Giant and Shock Wave are also excellent as well. I found the rest of the lineup to be a bit "average," but the overall park experience impressed me quite a bit (since it was during HITP). I can't wait to visit again - potentially this June.
  5. This is the park that didn't go vertical on their last new coaster until MAY of the year it was supposed to open. I don't think that will be an issue... In all seriousness, I think it is reasonable to expect 2022 announcements to come this August/September, resuming to a somewhat routine schedule again. It will probably be a bunch of small, insignificant investments (perhaps re-announcements for many rides that still won't open this year), but I can't see the chain completely skipping out on announcements again like they did last year.
  6. Park reopens to Members & Season Pass Holders on April 1-2, and everybody on April 3! Just like SFMM.
  7. ^I am curious about staffing as well. I am surprised they are opening so soon whereas parks like Disney and Knott's claimed they need time to re-hire and re-train. But YAY! Great news! I'll be there in May!
  8. If the website lists them as an extra charge, then I would trust that. I had no desire to do those attractions (especially with COVID), I was only interested in the rides and coasters, so I can't tell you for sure.
  9. I would anticipate everything being open when you visit. Even if you get unlucky with weather (April in Utah is quite unpredictable...), most rides will operate in rain or cold temperatures. As long as there is no crazy thunderstorm or snowstorm, you're good.
  10. Thanks for sharing! One day I will finally get to BGW. It looks like a fantastic park.
  11. ^Oh, you're good dude! I would definitely recommend going if you get the chance. El Loco is, well, crazy as its name suggests. And for what it's worth, I barely spent 2 hours in the park and had more than enough time to do whatever I wanted. Perhaps you would want to spend longer, but I think spending a whole day here would be difficult. Individual ride tickets seem to be a thing of the past, so stay as long as you wish to justify the $40 wristband!
  12. I am very surprised you found the coaster rough. That would genuinely shock me, since 2/3 of the track is now IBox. The existing wooden parts - that's fair game. Haven't ridden Lightning Rod, but I've ridden a half-dozen or so IBox coasters and none of them were remotely rough in any shape or form. Not trying to negate your experience (since I haven't ridden), but that is why I would be super shocked!
  13. Great news. I will be back in SoCal for a few weeks in late May and early June. I'm excited to visit the park again! I just recently passed the one year mark of my last visit (with coasters). I don't think I have ever gone one whole year without visiting the park since I was a toddler...
  14. There is no skip-the-line pass, as previously mentioned. I have never had issues with crowds in April. The only real crazy crowded days at the park are in September and October when the weather is perfect and Frightmares attracts a ton more people in the park than usual. Otherwise the park is usually pretty manageable when it comes to wait times, especially in the Spring where many people don't even realize the park is open and usually don't visit until the Summer.
  15. Wonderful photos. Thanks for sharing! I am pumped for this coaster. No, it won't be "best in the world" (I don't know why we ever set those expectations for any new coaster), but it is going to kick a$$. Crazy hang time and theming in the first half, then a 70mph launch into a top hat, zero-G stall, funky inner and outer banked turns, and a fast heartline roll over water? All with comfortable and minimalist lap bars? Yeah, sign me up. This and Iron Gwazi (and Ice Breaker, I suppose) are all the more reason I am excited to move to Florida in a few months.
  16. I remember SFOG being much more hilly than I expected during my first visit, but not to the point where signs are necessary. I am curious to know their reasoning for that as well. Maybe they should put one at SFMM. The path from Jet Stream up to Ninja, which passes by the Full Throttle tunnel, is still the steepest walkway I have every experienced at a park.
  17. Lagoon has published their 2021 calendar on their website. They open for the season on March 20th, which is the earliest they have opened in recent memory. Great news! Anyone planning on hitting up the park opening weekend?
  18. The first half is quite a bit faster with full trains. The empty trains always crawl. With all the scenery and hang time though, I'm still stoked. The second half hauls a$$ whether the train is empty or full. That final barrel roll looks top-notch. I don't understand how anybody can take a look at this coaster and *not* be excited! Are you even an enthusiast at that point?
  19. That's a bummer. It was closed when I went in 2019, but for some reason that didn't surprise me. Hopefully the one at Great Adventure sticks around for a while.
  20. Looks nice! This reminds me that many parks that never opened last year and are still closed could've taken this time to repaint some coasters. I know Carowinds did with Intimidator. I really wish Knott's repainted Xcelerator or SFMM repainted Tatsu during the last year. It would've been the perfect time with no people in the park to deal with. But I'm sure they weren't anticipating being closed for a year, and of course $$$ as well during an already difficult time. Good for CGA!
  21. I was hesitant about the color scheme when it was first announced, but I really like it based on those photos.
  22. Great report(s)! Reading them gets me very excited for my possible (and likely) move to Florida this June. The thought of having all of these parks as home parks is exciting! Hopefully Iron Gwazi will open soon. I'm starting to think it's just a statue at this point...
  23. Nice to hear about all the improvements going on at the park. I am interested to see what happens with Mystery Mine. I have never ridden it, but retracking/reprofiling a steel coaster is always interesting and a bit unusual.
