I will be very surprised if Pantheon, Iron Gwazi, Ice Breaker, and Emperor do not open this year. Those rides were already very close to completion right when COVID hit. They took most of 2020 off, and in the last few months it seems like finishing touches has picked up on all of the rides. Ice Breaker has been testing, Iron Gwazi and Emperor were already testing before COVID hit. Pantheon is the most "behind" in terms of testing (or lack thereof) but I think it will open this year. Jersey Devil could go either way. They definitely picked up work on it and finished trackwork. But there is still a lot to do, and as we all know from West Coast Racers and other projects, Six Flags likes to take their sweet time. It is also possible that Emperor does not open, but that would only be if California stays shut all year (which seems unlikely). If they permit the park to open, I bet Emperor will open. All in all, I am feeling a lot more optimistic now about 2021 than I was in the fall.

The park posted on Instagram a graphic saying "Park Opening with Rides Spring 2021." I will forever be skeptical of California parks re-opening, but if current COVID trends continue and as we approach the one-year mark of closure... I will admit I am a bit more hopeful now than ever. Fingers crossed!

Kentucky Kingdom's Twitter is also notorious for joking around, teasing enthusiasts, posting memes, and more. Don't get me wrong, I seriously LOVE their account (it's hilarious), but I wouldn't take anything they tweet super seriously. Or maybe Herschend really is buying the park and I'll end up eating my foot. It does seem like an odd thing to tease, though.

Gröna Lund Discussion Thread
thrillseeker4552 replied to Tobias94's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was doing a little research and realized that this is the first and only B&M Invert to not feature a vertical loop. This has probably been mentioned before but I found it interesting. It’s amazing how they squeezed this ride in! -
When I first visited Carowinds in 2017, I definitely would've put that on the list. Outside the three big B&Ms, the lineup...sucked. I went back in 2019 and Copperhead Strike was a wonderful addition that added more depth. But even now, after the four large coasters, the layout drops off significantly. I've never been to Canada's Wonderland, but based on the coasters they have, I can totally understand their terrible lineup after Leviathan, Behemoth, Yukon, and perhaps Vortex. Especially with Flight Deck and Time Warp in the mix...

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I know we like to bag on Cedar Fair lately (and rightfully so, honestly), but I actually like this new website design. -
I know platinum passes were discussed a little on the previous page, but I have quick question for those familiar with SeaWorld/Busch passes (I've only ever bought tickets). There is a chance I am moving to Florida in June. I will be driving there, and passing through San Antonio. I notice the Platinum Passes at SWSA are significantly less expensive than at SWO or BGT. If I stop and visit the park and purchase a Platinum Pass from there, then head to Florida and live there permanently, can I continue renewing and paying the SWSA pass year-after-year? Even though I'm never visiting the San Antonio park? I know that's probably an obvious question. I would just hate to get stuck in a situation where I must visit San Antonio to renew my pass even though I'd be living in Florida.

2020 TPR Coaster Poll!
thrillseeker4552 replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Submitted last night! My ranking is pretty much identical to 2019, except I added in West Coast Racers and rearranged a couple coasters in the middle of my list. Thanks to all involved with this. I am curious to see how much this list changes from 2019, if lots of people didn't do much traveling in 2020. -
The Official TPR Video Thread!
thrillseeker4552 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Awesome video! Kraken is the only B&M Floorless in the country I have yet to ride. There is a chance I'm visiting Florida in a few months (might even be moving there), so I can't wait to ride! -
Energylandia Park Discussion Thread

Looks fun! What a unique (and lengthy) layout. I am also a sucker for blue color schemes. I really wanna know when some American parks will hop on the new-Vekoma train. Or maybe it will be like the Mega-Lite and always remain a pipe dream. I can think of tons of parks here that would benefit from one of their new looping or launched coasters. -
Wild Adventures Discussion Thread
thrillseeker4552 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's a bummer about Cheetah. I will admit it is a little surprising that the park is removing/closing their signature coaster. I forget this is a Herschend park. I know they haven't invested into rides for this park recently, but given how SDC and Dollywood get tons of love, perhaps they will throw Wild Adventures a bone. RMC-ing Cheetah is probably one of the cheapest new thrill coasters they could add. -
TPR Trivia Night!

That was so much fun! Thank you William, Elissa, Robb, and everyone else involved. I would definitely do another one sometime! -
TPR Trivia Night!

I am looking forward to this! It will be a nice, fun brain break from school. -
I can’t speak for Big Apple Coaster, but based on my experience with the comfort collars on Electric Eel and West Coast Racers, they are right at cheek-height and cause unnecessary contact with your face/neck. They are not uncomfortable at all (they hardly touch you), but that is kinda the point... they hardly touch you. I would almost rather have them against my body/shoulders to avoid contact with my face. But they sit in such an awkward place, away from the body, that they feel so unnecessary and silly. And, yeah, they increase load times. Those Premier trains are already a pain to get in and out of. Although they are supposedly faster than the seatbelt-lapbar combo as seen on Full Throttle, Superman at SFDK, etc. I am glad to hear the ride experience on Big Apple isn’t terrible.

Carowinds Discussion Thread

Hopefully the park will be able to remain open from May all through the end of the year. That's still a decently long season.
