  1. Sounds like a good trip overall. Agreed on Valravn; I've never understood the hate for that ride. It's really fun. I found the bartenders at Melt and Chickie's and Pete's to be better than the ones in the park's own bars. The food there tends to be more reasonable in price, if not in size.
  2. Looks really fun. I knew they'd get it ready to go by August.
  3. Awesome man! I've never heard of anyone having a bad time at Dollywood. It's a fantastic place and I'm glad you got to experience it.
  4. Yeah, someone probably stood up there, because people are stupid. Glad you enjoyed our Log Flume, brought to you by Twix.
  5. I went during limited operations last year, and it was mainly that they didn't do the VIP unlimited, and the lines were stupid long and slow for everything. Some of the food locations were closed too, including the biergarten. No beer man at all that day. Still got to ride everything except Exterminator and Sky Rocket, which were closed for other reasons, but man it was a rough experience. I get that you're probably going then because of work schedules, so don't let that stop you. You'll have a good time (but maybe pack a case of Yuengling in case the beer man is MIA).
  6. They only run both when it's SUPER busy, so it probably has been closed since Labour Day last year.
  7. Glad you had a good time in Missouri! Looking forward to the report.
  8. Finally Spiderman and God of War were on sale under $20!
  9. Ooh, shandy. Here are some of the lovely things I brought back from Texas:
  10. Looks fantastic! I love all the reports of these after hours events. Going to have to get to one someday.
  11. They're selling what sells. People will go there for DC characters on rides. I guarantee you they thought about a whole bunch of themes, and Supergirl did best with focus groups. It's how they roll. Nothing wrong with giving the people what they want.
  12. ZDT's Switchback Railway. Fantastic coaster.
  13. Sweet, if you do that, they offer a discounted evening wristband. I'm having a hard time finding information on it, since they only sell the evening one at the park, but IIRC, it was around $30, whereas the all day is $45. I think it starts at 5, so if you get there at 4, you can do Haunted Mansion, Fascination, museums, gift shops, and dinner until the wristband starts. If you get there earlier than that, just get the all day wristband.
  14. Oh yeah, plenty to do there. Mini golf, Fascination, lots of gift shops too. I was there for 2 days and it wasn't even enough. I haven't heard about Haunted Mansion closing for weekends but it was open when I was there and it's great. Hope you get to go on it. It's not on the wristband, but those aren't available weekends anyway. It's one of the best dark rides anywhere. So is Black Diamond.
  15. Oh god, seriously? Just when they were starting to recover from the last ignorant hit job....
  16. All day lockers are the best thing any park has done in a while. They're so easy to use, and you don't have to backtrack to your locker constantly. They have large banks of them near every coaster that requires one, and even on a busy day there's going to be one available. Have a blast at Cedar Point, man. You're gonna love the place.
  17. Nailed it. Galveston is actually a pretty cool place and I probably like it better than most, if only because it is the closest beach to me. That's a cool story about the dive bar, but yeah that dude's a moron.
  18. Here's a hint: ALL theme park rides are glorified carnival rides. Shhh, don't tell anyone.
  19. Get there before opening and have breakfast. At opening get in line for Flying Turns. After that do whatever. Eat Cesaris, eat pierogis, see the eagles, have a good time.
  20. Very cool. You'll get right on everything with TimeSaver. It's not like Cedar Point where the fastpass turns an ungodly line into a normal length line. At Dollywood the lines for TimeSaver are very short. Just go see a show and go through the museum if/when the rides shut down. You'll have a great time.
