  1. I think that Lightning Run is a great Mega-Lite contender, and because of its installation I see more small airtime-filled coasters in the future for the US.
  2. Demon at SFGAm was my first coaster with inversions. I was maybe 5 or 6 at the time (just over the 42 inch mark). I was terrified by the airtime on the first drop. I thought all big roller coasters were like that (which is true to some extent). It wasn't until about 5 years later that I rode Batman for the first time and started liking taller roller coasters again.
  3. Well, I got my fall schedule all worked out. Yay 19 credit hours! Music Ed. Major Problems for sure. 4. I have been on the Sky Screamer at SFOG, but I am absolutely terrified by the idea that there are rids like this that are nearly twice as tall! I don't know if I could handle the New England one. ^Also, what's a Skyscraper? Is this some fancy flat ride that I've never heard of before?
  5. Oh yeah, that thing. It's so cute! And with that, I stand corrected. Don't you feel so happy that you were able to amend me? Also, I just noticed that the little thing uses Banshee cars that are cut in half.
  6. What I found with Chat on any fox-related browsers (I use Waterfox), is that it's hard for it to handle having the chat open and the forums simultaneously. My solution would be to install Google Chrome and use that to open chat, while having the forum open on Firefox. I know it's not the ideal setup for fast browsing (having to swap between windows every few seconds), but that's how I do it.
  7. I'm a big fan of the B&M hyper restraints as well. There hasn't been a case of B&M using 2-across on any coaster. All of their rides use 4-across or wider trains. On another note, I am a huge fan of the Steel Dragon trains. Are the shin restraints on that ride okay? I hear a lot of negative reviews about other manufacturers' shin restraints, so are those any better?
  8. Really with most opening dates on rides, all a park can do is estimate. The date was probably based on the projected time frame to build it, but not taking into account possible weather delays and other stuff. No need to complain about the pushed back date, the extra week is to make sure that everything is in place and complete, so there are no complications when it officially opens. Hey, at least it's not delayed nine months *cough* X *cough*.
  9. I don't know, I'm quite a fan of the 2x2 Intamin inverted trains. Maybe some of those (tornado twins) would benefit from the use of modified restraints?
  10. Well, I'll add that park to the list of ones I still need to visit. I'm very intrigued by the Ninja Turtles ride... Even if you don't like rides such as these, you gotta admit that they look really cool!
  11. It looks so pretty topped off like that! Now if only I had the time to go up there and ride it.
  12. I'm a fan of just about anything Victorian or Steampunk, so to see a train like this really excites me. And I know this park is gonna be a cool park and keep the train looking really awesome for years to come. *fingers crossed on that last statement*
  13. So are those rings actual lights? Because from the looks of it, it's just thinner, translucent surfaces that let in sunlight. Either way, it's still a really cool idea that more water parks should try. That bullet bowl and the other black and white cylindrical things make me happy.
  14. Could you imagine the roller coaster... I was thinking about this, and one of those crazy frog hoppers would make a great Flappy Bird ride!
  15. From the back seats of all listed: SFGAm: Viper (the double-dip thingy) SFOG: Goliath's first drop (Cyclone's catapult drop is a close second) Holiday World: Legend's first drop Beech Bend: Kentucky Rumbler's very unique first drop SFSTL: Boss (the tiny ejector airtime drop right after the first one) Kentucky Kingdom: Twisted Twins (how can you argue with dueling drops?) Universal Orlando: HRRR (the lift is just as exciting)
  16. I hope it's on schedule, because I'm thinking about making a pilgrimage from Atlanta to Chicago just to ride it....just kidding, I'll also be attending my cousin's graduation and hanging out with my aunts and uncles while I'm there too.
  17. I don't like having to pay for lockers to store my stuff for a single ride. Universal Studios does it right, Six Flags...just no. Also, if ride operators don't want to be questioned repeatedly about if the ride is broken down or not, they can just use the intercom and inform the guests queuing for the ride. It's a good compromise on both ends, because now everyone knows the issue, and it saves the ride op from having to tell every individual person what's going on. If someone wasn't listening, it's just a great example of social Darwinism. But yes, I find it somewhat annoying when I've waited a long time for a ride and something happens before I get on. Usually, it's somebody throwing up on Batman, and then it takes close to 30 minutes to clean up. Yay.
  18. ^I like that idea. Weed out the people who shouldn't be allowed to reproduce. Also, in a reply to the 90 degree drop idea, the negative forces on wooden coasters are already ridiculous enough at 83 degrees and 85 degrees and such, so why make it vertical when an almost-vertical drop is just as effective?
  19. I like the fact that the ride experience is going to last longer than 30 seconds. Hopefully RMC will continue this direction with longer coasters that sustain the unbelievable intensity for a longer period of time.
  20. I was expecting to see a huge "ROMANES EUNT DOMUS" to be written on the white board. But anyway, great report! I can tell you had some fun in Orlando at Jesus Land.
  21. From what I understand, Olympia Looping will run up to 5 trains at a time. The ride-ops have to be unbelievably quick to prevent 5 trains from stacking.
  22. So it actually was warm that weekend? I was expecting the update to show people in heavy winter wear riding roller coasters. But it looks like the weather turned out for the better! I'm very intrigued about the psychedelic London show idea. You should totally give us a report on that once you see it.
  23. How about a rebirth of Eagle's Fortress, but with fire and floorless cars? That would make me very happy. Plus, it needs a lot of terrain, which the park has. I had this crazy idea one day a long time ago about a scrambler with suspended cars that lifts up like an enterprise. Wouldn't that be fun?
  24. Yay for Candy Crush with roller coaster theming! On the other hand, if you have $16, you can buy This and This and get something that's well worth your money.
  25. When in doubt, guess County Fair. As for this whole trim brake debate, I guess I'll bite. My thoughts about the whole situation is that yes, I understand that the coaster community feels like the bull has been neutered. The problem with the theory, though, is that the trim has always been on and working! Also, it's only used for a couple of seconds every few minutes, so I don't see how it would run up maintenance costs at all. It's hardly ever used in comparison to the other machinery on the ride. I think the most far-fetched idea that I found though, was the new trains. Yes, new trains would be cool, but what would they accomplish? Look at Hades 360. The new trains did absolutely nothing to help out the ride experience. Also, aren't new coaster trains quite expensive? I would expect 3 trains with 36 passengers each to cost quite a lot, especially from B&M. Finally, why would you replace something perfectly fine on a perfectly good ride that still generates crowds and is typically at least a 45-minute wait?
