B&M vs Intamin
LiMiT replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you want Intamin airtime on a B&M, Goliath at SFOG is as close as it can get. I certainly like B&M, but I agree that their coasters are becoming less and less inspired. I think Goliath was the last of the good generation of B&M coasters. But what I see is a huge group of roller coasters all falling into the same categories and not expanding and innovating. As for Intamin, though I've only been on two of their coasters, I'm very amazed at the versatility of the rides and the sheer amount of categories that the company has developed. Sure, some of these come with design flaws (I305 and Skyrush come to mind), but that is certainly part of the engineering process. If I remember right, the 9th step of the 12 Steps of the Design process is "Refine the design". So I appreciate Intamin's ability to do more with the design process and create a huge variety of coasters, which I plan to ride someday. TL;DR - Intamin. -

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread

I wouldn't say build more flying coasters than inverts, but certainly there is a lack of flying style coasters built by B&M. The elements on these rides are unlike any other coaster I've been on. But, if B&M were to build more flying coasters, could they be like Sky Scrapper? -
The Official TPR Video Thread!

This goes in Club TPR's "strangest credits" book alongside the indoor jungle roller coaster that valleyed with a train full of TPR members! -
What type of enthusiast are you?

I think coaster rider fits my description best. Minus the water dummy part. -
A.J., I'm actually kinda worried about that. I have a Steam account, but I never use it, and frankly, I don't want to use it anymore (I'm reluctant to see what my brother has done to my Steam account after he hijacked it a couple years ago). Is there going to be an option for us non-Steam users, or are we going to be forced to use Steam?

When I was communicating with developers, they originally only had Intamin licenses back when they started doing custom ride / train requests. I asked for the B&M WingCoaster, and they said that they were seeking out more licenses, so have a plan B. One developer then told me that he had gotten a B&M license worked out and could make me a train. I said X-Flight trains would be best because they seem like the most "generic" of Wing Coaster trains. TL;DR - All the trains (hopefully) have an official license.

This sushi hibachi bar close to where I go to school serves wasabi bites. Essentially, it's deep fried wasabi. It's a tasty, sinus-clearing experience!

I had to go buy a new mouthpiece for my French Horn. I will now forever only buy mouthpieces of this brand. If you've ever wondered what happens to the extra materials left over from a RMC coaster, now you know where it goes! This is actually a German music company brand, but the name is a hilarious coincidence. And here are the two mouthpieces I bought! For a size reference, the tip of my thoumb barely fits into the cup of the mouthpieces.

This is Daisy, my 100-pound lab/weimaraner mix. She likes to lay on my bed with me. And take up as much of the bed as possible, because she's such a spoiled diva. "Cause my body too bootylicious for ya babe"

I couldn't agree more! Being an 18-year-old renting his own house, I'm really missing cable and watching HGTV all the time!

The worst and most fun slide for me is this bowl slide at Lake Lanier Islands, a tiny water park about an hour north of SFOG. This is a body slide that you violently swirl around because the bowl is tiny, and the tube that you go down to get to the bowl just kills your back. But what made it fun for me was getting on my feet and running around it in circles. There's a play area with an observation deck that looks over the slide so you can imagine everyone watching thought it was a funny and creative way to ride a water slide. I guess the lifeguards didn't seem to mind either.

S&S Sansei Discussion Thread

As a guy who rides GASM more than twice a year, I can tell you that it does get quite repetitive with the bunny hops, but I think the airtime and the buzz bars are what give it character. If these new rotating cars were put on it, riders would be very secure in their seats, with little to no freedom of movement. As the ride is now, the airtime hills lift riders out of their seats (even with the seatbelts that were installed later). And even if it were to just get the I-box treatment with new trains, all that character would be lost with the new track. So yes, it may seem uninspired, but I certainly find some redeeming qualities in the design. -

Being that you are in close proximity to Missouri, I would also suggest checking out Silver Dollar City if you ever get the chance. In fact, there's a whole lot to do in Branson besides the park. -

What are some loud rides and coasters?
LiMiT replied to JFrombaugh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Mindbender at SFOG is like a freaking ninja. It goes down the drop so smoothly and quietly, and then when it gets to the loop, it sounds like a jet on a runway. On the other hand, its neighbor, Dare Devil Dive, is the most silent roller coaster I've never heard. -

I'm excited to see this concept take off. I like the idea of it smoothly rotating and not violently rocking back and forth. Also, I was looking at the IAAPA layouts and I was curious as to whether anybody knows the height of the two models. -
TPR New Front Page In Development!
LiMiT replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As everyone else has said, they're both improvements to the original site. I just like option 1 a bit more because of the social media sidebar versus a larger front picture. But I'll be happy to see either. I'm also glad you're asking us about these options rather than forcing a complete website overhaul on users that's impossible to navigate *cough* RCDB *cough*. -
The extremely old looping roller coasters were essentially set up like this: \o/ The car rolled down one slope, and the riders prayed that the vehicle they were in would get through the loop safely because there were no upstop wheels...so of course there was a long time lapse in which no looping coasters were built because of the safety hazards of the older ones.

Ninja at SFOG opened with two trains acquired from the previous operation as Kamikaze. Both trains were recently replaced with two of GASM's old trains. The two GASMs are now adjacent to each other.
