La Ronde Discussion Thread
booink replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I doubt it, SFOT's and SFSTL are gonna have DC Comincs theming according to Screamscape, and La Rondw won't because there is no DC Comics theming at the park and I doubt Six Flags will start adding Batman and foes. Apparently it's going to be called Maison Rouge and be themed to a Pirate's house (according to Screamscape again.) However it's very possible that SF bought the same model from Sally Corp and just asked for different theming. -
The Great Escape (TGE) Discussion Thread
booink replied to Red Benny's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, I just saw it too, my brother sent me a link. That REALLY sucks, I would have been happy with ANYTHING but a waterslide re-theme. I mean, it's not even a new slide complex, they are gonna add some new paint and market it as a "new" attraction ? I think I wouldn't even have complained if it was a new kiddie ride in Kidzopolis. -

From where does this info comes ? There was no official announcement from the park yet and I haven't heard any rumors about that until now. Did I miss something? -
Most Coaster Credits in a Calendar Year
booink replied to redfoot12's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Last year I got 29 new credits, 15 at Cedar Point and 13 at Six Flags Great Murica, plus Anaconda at Granby Zoo in Québec. Pretty much sure that's the most I ever got in a single year. Here are also a few milestones that I remember : #60: Anaconda (Granby Zoo) #70: Blue Streak (CP) #80: Batman (SFGAm) #100: Leviathan (CW) (that was last monday, it's very recent!) -
La Ronde Discussion Thread
booink replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A very observator member of the Xtreme LaRonde forum just discovered that La Ronde is on the customer list of Sally Corp, the same way that we discovered Le Monstre's new trains through PTC's customers list two years ago : http://sallycorp.com/company/customers/ -

Do you think there is a chance that this is the same attraction that SFOT and SFSTL are getting? I'm not very aware of what SFSTL and SFOT are getting and I don't know anyone who works at La Ronde, so I don't have real "insight" about what the park will get. However, I believe it's going to be a walk-through and not a mechanical ride, once again according to what I've read on other forums. If it was to be a proper dark ride, I'd be quite happy because I'm not a fan of them, but it's something the park has been lacking since they got rid of "Le Moulin de la Sorcière" in 2003 (I think). I can tell you for sure it's not gonna be Justice League like SFOT, however, because La Ronde has no DC Comics theming and I don't think Six Flags has the intention of bringing Superman and Batman to Montreal. The clown in the teaser doesn't look like any DC Comics character I know either. -
La Ronde Discussion Thread
booink replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
La Ronde just posted a teaser with a creepy clown on their facebook page for the 2015 season. I've heard on other forums that the new attraction would probably be a haunted walk-through or a dark ride, so looks like it's true. -
Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread

^EDIT: your post made me curious, so I decided to open up GIMP and test the correlation. The colors are not the same and I wasn't able to make the flames pattern fit with the ones of the teaser. However you're right the two are similar, when I first saw it I was sure you were right! -
The Great Escape (TGE) Discussion Thread
booink replied to Red Benny's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^I think that's actually a good thing, I think TGE benefits from not beeing branded by DC Comics and other Six Flags brands. Sure they have ads wrapped around Boomerang trains and there used to be Wiggles and Looney Tunes, but now they are gone and the park benefits to have some theming custom to the region (Timbertown), and also keep its Storytown charm with the little houses and the original theme. Six Flags does a very good job adding new while keeping the old in good shape, and the Pink Whale's return last year was another proof that SF actually somewhat cares about this park. Still curious to see what the new addition will be, I've been debating with my brother about what could be built in that spot yesterday afternoon. Considering the absence of serious rumors until now this just made me excited for the announcement in a week. Don't disappoint me Great Escape ! Also... Starbust advertises within the park but did not present a ride. If I remember well Stride used to sponsor the Boomerang and is now presented by Twix. Steamin Demon had some Poly-O and Axe ads on it as well, but now there's none. -

Someone at SFNE Online spotted some construction markers near The Boomerang, between the waiting line and the Storytown Train's rails. Could this be for the 2015 addition ? Here are the markers. Credit to SFNE online. Here's the location on Google Earth for anyone not sure where this is. This picture also allows us to see that there's quite a bit of space available for whatever's gonna be there. Credits to Google Earth and the snipping tool in Windows. -

The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
booink replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A recent pleasant surprise I had was Predator @ Darien Lake, lots of the peoples saying it was a terrible ride I expected it to be very bad, but in the right seat it was actually very rideable and had several good pops of airtime which took me by surprise. -

Not really sad to see Skyrider close, I rode it once and it was the most headbanging I ever experienced on a coaster ! It really sucked! -
Dania Beach Hurricane Declares Bankruptcy
booink replied to digidoc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, this is insulting! Man, I don't had much hope this ride would ever re-open, but as it wasn't getting demolished I though "maybe something good might happen...". Well, looks like every Coaster Works creation will be gone soon. -
What are some loud rides and coasters?
booink replied to JFrombaugh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Morgan trains for wooden coasters are very loud! Also, here's a random L&T systems at Granby Zoo in Québec, which has such a loud lift hill it actually surprised me the first time : (sorry for my site's logo at the beginning of the video) -
Cyclone at Six Flags New England used to suck, but with the retracking they did in 2011 (I think ?) the coaster became very enjoyable and actually fun. I also wish Le Monstre (La Ronde) had its Morgan trains back, I know most enthusiasts hate Morgan woodies trains, but the PTCs perform worst on Le Monstre than the Morgans did and I don't enjoy the ride anymore.

You know you're a Six Flags park if...
booink replied to coasterdude5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Only if you go La Ronde or Six Flags Mexico! This might be a really dumb question, but at La Ronde, do they do all the announcements twice? like in English & French They don't do the announcements twice on the rides, but they are the same as any Six Flags coaster in the US. However most employees speak english very well, so language isn't a problem; in fact a lot of peoples in Montreal speaks either english better than french or not french at all! -
Nice TR so far ! I have been visiting The Great Escape and Lake George for almost 10 years now, and yet I've never stopped at Magic Forest . Would you recommend it to a 16 years old, or is it really more for kids and older visitors won't find much? It sure looks interessing by the photos and descriptions you posted.

^I second this, I was seeing so many peoples on this forum and on Youtube loving American Eagle that I tough, "man, it must be quite good !". And then I rode it, and it was rough and overall very bad. Actually I just went back to look at my Mitch Hawker's ballot, and I ranked A.E. 14th out of 16. Speaks for itself.

Dark Ride Idea Thread
booink replied to tarheel1231's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think Mad Houses are great dark rides, if they count ! Seriously, the best themes are the one that surround mysterious urban legend, where a side of the story can be interpreted in a dark way. That's why I think the two Houdini mad house at SFNE and SFGAdv are great, because they have good themes.
