That's fair, Voyage night ride trims off was perhaps the greatest coaster experience I've had. It was also mostly walk ons for Voyage but it was 2018 when I went to Holiwood Nights but sounds like the event has grown in recent years. IDK about last year (did the event happen?) but 2019 CoasterMania the ERT for Steel Vengeance wasn't bad at all. It was a bit slow at first but once things got going it was pretty short lines throughout. I recall being able to get several rides in like 5 or 6? No idea what it may be like this year.... Speaking of, Coastermania 2021 IS on the site....I will assume the event is happening? -

Exactly, like I'm sure it was cool to have that air pop over the top, but the big deal that was made seemed kinda silly to me. Skyrush is a good point, also I thought of El Toro. Opening year you got some air over the top. It was slowed down later but any impact on the overall ride? Clearly not lol I am just glad its testing and they made the choice to improve reliability. A ride that runs better > unfettered speed over one hill. All I want is the ride to be open, (I'll be in TN for a few days, I may legit just keep things open and shuffle my plans to make sure I go to DW when its running) and little crowds. Ah Bill and his Mystery Mine crush Though I do hope that will be running too. Jokes aside looks like a fun experience. -
I agree! They weren't nothing, but I wasn't sure Thunderbolt's forces necessitated having another rider. I kinda wonder if it just more their tradition by now or some overly concerned safety thing but yeah I think solo riding would be fine. Regardless, when I go back I got no need to ride again it was a bit underwhelming anyway. The flyers: I do agree both are kinda uncomfortable but the B&M ones I do find more comfy. On the back is weird, deff on the lift and being not the smoothest rides....even leaving the station I was getting some vibrations which when your head is basically right above the track....not so great. Oof yeah the sun. LOL @dankeykang that's funny! I personally would've enjoyed that. I like the random interactions you can get at parks, generally, just sometimes it doesn't go so well XD

Yeah bobsled, log flumes, various flats, the cramming people together was always awkward. And its not so bad when family or with a special someone, then it's a great thing! But when its not those cases....was deff awkward city lol Oh Thunderbolt...yeah.... OK so I knew the deal w solo riders, so I was prepared for being w a rando and I knew the ride would throw you around. I was waiting for another solo rider and sure enough.....let's just say someone I was not very thrilled with, and they said they had to have the one seat, meaning they'd be the one flying into me. No problem chatting with strangers either this dude was kinda awkward, weird and said some not so great things and had no issue w people hearing. On line he directly addressed this HS couple "ahh young love. Yeah...thats not gunna ******* last! Oh but nah you two will be the ones! Itll work out!" and cackles. I felt like I was in some nightmare. But gotta get that cred and was already stuck on line w him lol

Yeah that's what I figured, I sometimes hear it get made a big deal of "oh if only it still was like...." "wont ever be quite the same as when" "shame its not like at first" and I never got how it could be that big a deal... just enthusiasts doing their thing I guess! Yeah I heard that was why they did it and that supposedly it has improved the downtime. Seems like a plus to me. Get it running better! I am stoked to see it's testing already, and can't wait to finally get to this park! -

Awesome! Thinking LR will deff be open then by late April/early May. I do regret not getting here earlier when LR used to fly over the top, but I've wondered if the slower speed over top really has any impact on the ride overall? -

Oh yeah they would never have it so blatant "T rex" "526 feet" written hastily on a whiteboard....yeah no lol Do they? Honestly that's hilarious. It also makes sense....yesterday I started seeing "Cedar Point 500 foot coaster??" "Speculation. Cedar Points wild new ride????" -

Agreed to all Hilltopper. Thanks for the confirmation! My stats prof who was always stressing to think in terms of "buckets" when looking at data is shaking his head at my failure lol Yeah you nailed, it's the headline grabbing. We're so used to the "top 10/25" and the hype of it, easy to get caught up in the "this is better than that?" but yeah exactly any one person could claim any in the top idk 15 could be "the best in the world" and its not really wrong. Yeah I do think from here on batches is how I'm gunna think about it. Maybe have a personal top 10 but yeah so many coasters, so many differing opinions, its why I love it! Oh and yeah we can then of course use the specific rankings to try say how we were right about X being better than Y or why this park is the best and we were right the whole time -

I am surprised by Lost Gravity. Always had the vibe that was a top tier, didn't expect 42. Same thing with Karnan at 31. I mean those are obviously good in the big picture just I expected higher or at the least not that they'd be below Orion. Guess that's what happens as you get near the top. Can beat 92, 93% of coasters and still be "only" in the 30s 40s I know I had the greatest pain sorting mine out and ofc I've not done many of these in the top 50. Goes to show how many more I really need to ride -

I agree with those comments. It's not bad.....it's just boring. If it was rough and boring it'd be bad, and lord can I think of a few of those, but it was just meh. After riding Grizzly I was deff surprised all the hubbub was about that...there's much worse. -

There are limits to my masochism, but honestly yeah... (within limits) a painful ride is at least something...boring is boring. This tends to be more for woodens, mine trains....I do hate when steel ones thrash you about. Like agreed Runaway Mine Train > Green Lantern and corkscrew is the worst at CP. But yeah idk I'll take some pain over boring. I never really thought about this but yeah, you've psychoanalyzed my coastering XD -

I may be wrong but I thought this (like Mitch Hawker) was designed to try our best to eliminate the impact of # of riders. I thought that was the selling point, trying to find a way to get "true" rankings even if a coaster has 40 or 400 riders. Granted I am not a stats person so not sure how well it can be done, but surely they try to eliminate that bias? -
I should be fair, I forgot/was not aware of CC and WA. Which....is not a good sign eh? That does add validity to the concern. 2 parks they've done superbly with, 2 they seem to have run into the ground. I certainly can get the concern now. Guess all we can do is keep the faith. I mean an epic decade of expansion isn't necessary but I sure do hope KK is preserved. It was a wonderful little park, and I did have the feeling while I was there "Damn, this place could really be something!" There's already 2 top tier rides, throw in a few more over time and certainly could be quite a hidden gem.

Agreed! I didn't rank any kiddies because yeah its just a different type of ride. They certainly are not "bad" ya can't really compare with Voyage and El Toro -

Final note: The vindication continues! Despite the hefty, yearly, crap that MForce gets from the enthusiast community. Still #14 and above a bunch of RMC's, Phantom's Revenge, SFNE Superman The fans exist, they just aren't as vocal as me XD -

This goes to show why you cant always trust "what you hear/the vibe you get" I really had the impression White Lightning was generally considered better than Mine Blower. Yet here its not just flipped by Mine Blower 16 White Lightning 43. Interesting! Also Beast, top 30 right around Thunderhead and Raven. Very interesting. I know I was pleasantly surprised (granted the bar was low) guess I'm not alone. And yes, some of these look superb and clearly deserve to be up in the rankings. Well, guess I'm off to China! No biggie XD -

This is surely one of my "lol u srs?" moments but I enjoy Rip Ride Rockit. Like, more than I imagined, and that vs Space Mountain? RRR > SM any day in my book. Then again I didn't hate Grizzly at CGA. I didn't like it lol it was slow, boring, if it wasnt for the rattling I'd have felt nothing, but thing is it wasn't the roughest thing ever. Far from it (prob bc it went too slow to be that rough!). I just thought it was meh....rode and forgot. I had much worse rides on like GASM at SFoG or Hershey's wildcat. But that's why this is great! Difference in opinion is good Oh except this, Bill is right to say Copperhead Strike > any RMC is a crime against humanity -
Enthusiasts: rave 24/7 about Dollywood, SDC, never spares a chance to gush how much better it is than the corporate Cedar Fair and Six Flags. Herschend is going to buy Kentucky Kingdom: This is bad bad news, shame its being sold to corporate. RIP KK Like....yall Yes yes I get it, shame it that its going from its individual ownership to a chain esp after he revived it from Six Flags etc Maybe Im a lame-o that just doesn't inherently see the issue with being "corporate" but outside of the sad thought Hart can't keep up the park right now, I dont see the issue. will prices go up? Im sure. But what if that gets invested in the park? Dollywood has exploded over the last decade. SDC has added some big rides. I've not been to either park but people seem to love em, praise their "feel" and "atmosphere" Like this is Herschend, not SF or even CF....I think the park will be fine and prob better off! Especially if the park is hurting, which Im reading it has been, I mean...what yall prefer? It just goes under? Seems like a great move to me, and if they can build it up to the quality of DW/SDC that would be superb as its just outside OH...I would surely go here much more frequently!

Any thoughts on what 2021 will look like!?
JJLehto replied to ricklap77's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Agreed with basically all of it. I try to temper expectations but it does seem hopeful. And Jersey Devil is lower on the priority only bc no matter where I end up in the US I'll always visit NJ since the family is there, so can easily pop by. I agree, this is much better than I felt even a few months ago. I think a good year can be salvaged, and by the end normalcy. All around. -
Oof that's disheartening lol I've held off bc I was waiting for Sandy's to open. Still dont think the prices justify what's there but I want the creds esp the 0.5 degree steeper supposedly rougher Takabisha XD but dang...that hurts to know. Well, is the site accurate? Maybe will keep my eyes peeled and hope for a miracle some day. Like I was planning on this to be a once and done thing.
