Any thoughts on what 2021 will look like!?
JJLehto replied to ricklap77's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Given most parks were open in 2020, and we're seeing the numbers way down (44% over the last 2 weeks!) and the vaccine is rolling out I have to imagine all the same parks will be open and those that weren't will be, least at some point. Capacity? I gotta assume will be begin limited, but as the year goes on may get loosened/dropped? Prob state dependent as always, I'm sure some will wanna go to normal ASAP others will prob hold off the whole year. My question is what about 2020 rides? I get it's a financial risk to invest $ into a project when you expect down revenue, but well I'm selfish lol and I did hold off on parks that were open last year bc Im waiting for their new rides to open. But parks dont cater to me XD I do hope everything slated to open in 2020 opens up. I mean, this is the year things will slowly return to normal and it could help draw people in? Construction started on most (all?) so I'm hopeful they all will open. Needless to say Im thinking Iron Gwazi, Ice Breaker, Pantheon, Jersey Devil but I'm sure I've missed some. -
We did, after a few failed attempts (another IIRC the train got stuck at a random part) I went to SFNE next year, like a few days after Wicked Cyclone opened (was a weekday so I was solo) and I did get another ride on Goliath, somehow lol Not sure how many times you've been since but I've heard WC has slowed down/lost some of its oomph, which would be a damn shame that thing was an absolute beast.

That is actually what I ended up doing! Its just too maddening otherwise

Didnt submit my rankings last 2 years so really need to get on this. Oof....I forgot how hard this was! Esp as I've added 75 incl lots of quality ones. Basically started from scratch as I feel too overwhelmed XD Then will just update the list each year but dang this is gunna take some time. How do people with hundreds rank em especially when you get to the middle?

Superb! Forever in debt to this forum, has made planning vastly better over the years. -
I rode Railblazer and yes its odd, intimidating, and the ride is absolutely f-ing bonkers. That drop back row....words cant even. I have no idea if bigger will = better but I am damn excited! And all seriousness I haven't gone here in prob 7 or 8 years now...would be nice to go back to my home park while Im back in the NE. And yes, 2021 could be October lol BUT that is indeed encouraging news!

Oh shows how little attention I pay to offseason/this type of news....had no idea there was even a retrack of LR being done. But seems like by late April it should certainly be done. Which is excellent, hell or high water I'm going to this park finally lol and after a (by choice) weak 2020 this would be a great way to start 2021 coastering -

Thanks for the tips all! Yes, I have the same concern regarding May, TEDodd, tis why Im thinking April. I had no idea (schedules always shifting these days thanks to rona) I had this bloc of time off! Thanks dstephe9 but fear not, it will be during a weekday! Unless its the only time I that works I try to avoid parks on weekends! That said it seems weather is indeed the biggest worry. Well no worries, I will do the best I can to plan for good weather. Oh also......(in general) does Lightning Rod run that early in the year? -

Yeah slower ops negating the lack of crowds was another reason I held off last year, it hit bad at Hershey but that was also July. I'd imagine an offseason weekday like that would be a safe bet. Hell I actually have 2 weeks in mid April off. I see the park IS open April as well. Seems kinda crazy to me that early but looks like its generally decent weather then?? Interesting... I may try to sneak to Dollywood solo while I can, wait to see what other rides open when before I plan bigger trips -

Yeah that was one of the other reason I avoided parks...figured even if down crowds limited capacity may negate that, but hopefully off days will help. -

The debate over how much difference there is in the air going over the first hill, meanwhile I'm coming off failed attempt #3 in a row to even go to the park 2021 is the year though! I held off doing anything last year but in both my experience and others it seems parks werent as bad as I feared. I graduate in May and thus expect to have some amount of totally free time. Nothing to get in the way, and I reckon a May weekday would = quiet park? -
Same, I told my friends in FL I would visit but besides COVID...I've been putting it off bc I need Pantheon and Iron Gwazi to be open. I'll never tell em, but till those are open I aint driving down XD That said damn, still no estimation or "I heard" even? Oof. Well, hopefully it'll be open by May. I hope to do some coaster traveling as a graduation gift to myself

I mean, it's been enough to convince me to finally stop by IB next time I'm out there! I sure hope it can turn things around, seems like such a unique little park that has had so many tribulations, would be great to see it thrive. -
Oh it's no vacation, for proof: I am looking at Sacramento lol But I feel you! Plenty of research done, I've even looked at tax calculators (so I can know exactly what is acceptable pay), rent in various areas, crime maps, etc I did a lot of this leg work as I had a job offer out there earlier this year, but I held off to do the Masters instead/covid was peaking. It of course depends if I can find a good enough/appropriate job out there : ) Oh as for 2021 plans how could I forget! SFNE assuming it ever opens

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
JJLehto replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I mean, not exactly high on the list but for what it is, it's fun enough. I would check the line and if short just spam it a few times and move on, I always enjoyed it personally! I was lucky, the 6 times I rode it over 2 days 5 of em the break runs basically weren't there. It IS awkward but I didn't mind...in a way I liked the slow then oh drop! feeling. The other ride a couple of em did really stop you and that did suck and ruin the ride. But yeah fun enough! Can even feel some force in the helix and if you reeeaaalllllly use your imagination can feel one or two pops of air lol As for last I rode. Boulder Dash. It was more of a let down than my first ride, and this was on a hot sunny day so can't even wonder if it was bad weather. In the day I'm sure was a helluva ride, those POVs are nuts but now? The first half was quite weak and the second was.....well not much better. Was a shame the fast relentless constant out of your seat ride was now pretty sluggish and gave at best pops of air. To think I drove the 2 hours for that **** XD
