  1. I THOUGHT it was pretty well established what makes a ride wooden or steel, and on top of that every RMC like this is considered steel, or hybrid at the least (but it should be steel) Pretty clear petty record grab. BUT ofc the ride is what matters in the end and it looks sick. Deff one of the better looking RMCs. Not just its size but I like the layout, lot of whippy-ness, good flow etc It seems a bit less samey, (to Robb's point RMCs are becoming prolific enough they are becoming less standout) the speed is good, airtime will be insane. I have to imagine it will compete for #1 in Europe, because yes even the increasingly samey RMCs are better than most anything else
  2. I got two rides, both in row 7 (where I was assigned each time). You barely notice the bump, though I imagine in the front row or two you might get some amount of air. The whole ride is intense IMO. The launch is insanity. Among my favorite coaster elements ever, and definitely the best single coaster element in the park. The roll is quite fun, offering a bit of floatiness while still keeping up the fast pace. Both the double inversions are very fun. Fantastic ride IMO, even if it’s over fast. Oh yeah, the launch I don't question. It's basically Hypersonic XLC. I was lucky enough to get on that one twice, and that launch is, to this day, one of the most intense experiences I've had. See I figured the flip would be intense, bc it's so fast, or ya barely notice it, bc it's so fast haha Floatiness? Interesting.
  3. So, how is Maxxforce? Is there any air at all over the bump, and is the ride intense/how's the high speed flip? This ride intrigues me, figure its either intense or kind of lame, hoping for the former.
  4. Sorry for being late to the party, I heard about the announcement but somehow didn't actually look into it!? Pantheon looks great. A fast, multi launch coaster, with a beyond vertical drop, spike, what's not to love? Also this will bring me here next year. Despite several NJ-FL/FL-NJ drives I never did bother to stop here because while it's a great park, the rides I've not yet done are Griffon, Verbolten, Tempesto, Invadr...all are fun I am sure but ya know, none blow me away/I havent done before so I never wanted to make the stop here. Went to KD instead. But I am stoked to ride this.
  5. It shall be California's Great America. 2 weeks from now. Not super thrilled but Goldstriker and Railblazer! This will start a FIVE park western adventure, the 4 big CA ones and Lagoon. So pretty stoked. Will also cap off my biggest coaster year yet, (after breaking my record the previous 2!)
  6. And since Diamondback was such a let down for me, I can finally get my B&M hyper at KI!! Yeah, with Hershey opening its new ride, Steel Curtain I'm missing this year and Maxxforce I am already planning an epic 2020 Norther Trip...Hershey to Chicago, with CP in the middle
  7. Of course it's gunna be awesome. I think some are just a tad let down because we know what Fury is like, and it's so glorious, while this looks like a more "standard" but bigger B&M so I think many are just assuming it will be less furious than Fury, more of a mild big ride. Also enthusiasts same to hate floater air and demand only ejector, so I think some are let down by the big, drawn out hills. Personally I love floater. Long as its solid, and sustained. Great feeling, and Goliath honest to god rivals Twisted Cyclone for me because it just has so many loooong floater hills. That's the make or break for the ride for me. If the hills are mild, the ride will be kind of meh, if they are strong sustained floater hills (with a speed hill thrown in there) it's gunna be epic as hell. And I love sense of speed. This thing will be fast, but its not gunna have the feel of speed that Fury or MForce have. BUT THATS OK BC YA KNOW NOT EVERY RIDE CAN BE THE SAME, PERFECT AND TAILORED FOR ME lol OH also B&M attempt at a wave turn? Helix in the middle? They are taking stabs at branching out, I'll give it that All I know is KI was probably not on my 2020 list...and now it 100% is!
  8. I mean, I fully admit I don't know quite how the construction process works, who bears responsibility for what and etc All I know is....it does seem to be a historic issue with Six Flags. I mean this isn't exactly new for em lol
  9. For sure, and no doubt it does exactly that. Still doesn't mean some of us can't be a little let down/found it lackluster, but true it does what it was intended do and superbly. I wasn't being sarcastic, it deff was needed for the park. There's such a steep drop between those 3 and the rest. So it's a great filler no doubt. I don't dispute its fit for the park, and I agree it's extremely comfy and yes it does have some strong ejector moments. It aint bad, quite the opposite it's a fun good ride. Just eh...thank goodness it does have all those upsides, otherwise it'd be very disappointing
  10. I was surprised how much I liked Cincy. I regret having so little time when I went last year, and will deff make sure to spend more time in the city when I go next
  11. Great American Scream Machine was a let down for me. It looks soooooo good, and I can handle, and like, a rough ride, but wow. I thought I had spinal damage. Whatever air time there may have been wasn't noticed because well, my skeletal structure was being rattled out of place and the roughness took away from speed and anything. Was easily my least favorite ride there. To add insult to injury...this ride jostled my rental car keys out! I got up, realized they were gone, went into panic mode, and by the grace of the coaster gods saw em in the car (not row but car!) ahead of me! I already hated the ride, I did during and immediately after. That was just icing lol
  12. Yes, but if I recall correctly, quite a few here said they dont expect early Oct (Im talking first week) to be an issue, esp for a weekday. Yeah I'll be going solo. Once its set in stone I'll gladly drop a line. I don't mind going solo but ofc more the merrier.
  13. It's a B&M Giga starting near where Firehawk was and running the length of Racer. Looks to be right around 300 feet from leaked blueprint calculations and about the same length of Leviathan. And this isn't just another one of those sarcastic exaggerated coaster jokes. It's going to be awesome. You can find a few renderings based on the blueprints online and there are some construction updates. I just saw the site on Saturday and they're still pouring footers at this point. All of the land clearing seems like it's done. Oh, wait for real? I actually did start rolling my eyes upon reading it assuming you were doing the usual "lol theyre getting a giga" they really are? Well daaaamn. OK well, pencil KI into my 2020 trip. Hershey, KW, CP and KI. Because its never too early to plan.
  14. Sorry for being so bad at following news but IS there a 2020 ride coming to KI? If so do we know anything of any value?
  15. So I'm caving and booking my trip now. I recall people saying during an October weekday the park should be dead, so that is my aim. I'm thinking earlier to miss whatever Halloween stuff they may do. I love the park has full operating hours, on weekdays, in October Was tempted to ask how has LR been running in general and is it usually up/good in Oct? But I realize it's a literal crap shoot it seems, much like the early days of TTD (well ok still ) and I gotta just go and hope. Im gunna make a long weekend of it, and do Gatlingburg/the Great Smoky Mnts and Knoxville. In theory I can switch days around if LR is down or hell even go twice if I like the park enough. I've never heard anything negative from anyone so yeah I'm stoked
  16. You're right about that, and it doesn't just seem it IS faster. 60mph I think? Not positive but I think its 60. Helluva lot faster than CS I mean 50 mph is already slow but after such a mild launch... Shame, the idea of accelerating over an airtime hill seemed awesome, but yeah I barely noticed. That said the ride was still my #4 at the park. Honestly after that it's a big drop off. Everything else was meh at best. So I deff feel CS was a great addition. They needed something else outside their strong top 3. Even Intimidator surprised me. I generally didn't hear much about it and when so people seemed dismissive, I got lots of solid air, even a moment or two where I "felt" the ride! Low expectations, but I enjoyed it. Afterburn was great as I heard. Only reason I didn't ride it a ton more was 1 train ops and the line while small was always like 30 mins. Fury was often 5 at tops so it was more worth marathoning that! But I always make a layover in Charlotte when going north, I will surely stop by here next year on my way to CP or wherever. On a weekday it was dead, and made for a great few hours.
  17. Was it a ride later in the day? I find as the day goes on it gets rougher and rougher. I am also assuming you were riding back row like any good enthusiast that doesn't want to be thrashed around does. That's good to know, early in the day recommended then? Never having ridden I have no idea...is back row best for X2?
  18. Wait was it down? Hows it been in general? I'm going back to CA for the first time in 6 years if X2 is down again I will be piiiiised. It was down for a little over 2 weeks. From what I heard, a part broke on it and they had to wait for a new one to come in Oh thats not too bad then. I was afraid maybe it was having multi month long issues. Generally the ride has been running though? Also I have decided I will go on a weekday. I hear 1 train ops may make it hard to marathon but the park will be so dead from all I hear...I'll take the risk and go with less crowds. I loved Lex Luthor and the ascent is part of the thrill for me. It is fairly terrifying, esp when you hear and feel the rumble than start swaying (way more than it feels like you should). If it was just an up and drop it'd be more meh imo but that's scary as hell. Sorry that happened.
  19. Well I found Cheetah Hunt pretty mild, basically CS but even less...there was just the 1 airtime moment (maybe 2 depending on seat) and even less force and inversions. It was fun dont get me wrong. But yeah Copperhead was a let down.
  20. Yeah, Copperhead Strike was OK...and I too kept expectations low. Especially the launches, I heard they were very slow/forceless so I kept that in mind. Even with that I was a bit let down. I knew it would be somewhere between Cheetah Hunt and Maverick, and for me..pretty much in the middle but a tad towards the Cheetah Hunt side. It was indeed a mild ride, with the 2 good pops of airtime, 1 or 2 whippy moments. The hang time was indeed the best part, which is probably not a great thing. I love hang time, but yeah with a multi launch multi inverting coaster with that compact wild layout...
  21. Wait was it down? Hows it been in general? I'm going back to CA for the first time in 6 years if X2 is down again I will be piiiiised.
  22. I will be going to Lagoon Sat Sept 7th. This is just the best day for me in context of the larger trip. Anyone who can/wants to meet up lemme know, otherwise I'll be hoping to marathon (?) Cannibal solo and hoping the famously nice people of Utah will let me tag on for the coasters that dont allow single riders Also if anyone knows things to do in Salt Lake City, or any hiking nearby, please let me know
  23. That is awesome. Honestly the one reason I started planning this was the fact there is public transport getting you from the airport to park. I miss public transport! That sounds great, especially some cable snapping! I am sure I will spend the whole day. Seems like a wonderful park, and having never been to SLC I cant wait to see the city too
  24. Awesome. I mean yeah Im all for that, its just rare parks seem to have much these days. I mean I will always do a giant frisbee, or I finally got to try an infamous Larson super loop (I got to do both at SFoG!) but yeah parks just lack unique rides. Its a shame. If Lagoon has got it, awesome.
  25. Depends on the quality of the flats. If a park has the type of flats I've seen before/nothing real stand out I won't lie I tend to skip em all. If they're good/unique I will deff wanna hit them up, and I always go for re-rides. I will indeed be alone, I did know about the single rider policy and figured I will just not take the very back row, and would have to hope someone or some group would let me tag on for Jet Star 2. That said, I will soon put out a concrete date and if anyone wants to meet up, naturally the more the merrier.
