Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
yankees15 replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I ended up hitting up Hershey for about 2 1/2 hours tonight and it was awesome! Lines were very minimal. Anyway, Fahrenheit looks AMAZING in person! This coaster is so tight and compact! The drop is going to have ridiculous airtime and the inversions are going to be intense. I cannot wait to get back to Hersheypark during the summer to try this ride out. It is going to be one of the best coasters. -
Springtime at the Park- Hersheypark
yankees15 replied to yankees15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for the info guys! I really hope it isn't crowded like you said it was during your visit, YoshiFan. Both of my visits last year were ridiculously crowded and I want a light day at the park with many rerides. Anyone else who has attended this event I would much appreciate your input. -
^Themed spinner? The Dark Knight is going to be a standard wild mouse, but it will be themed. I have only been on GASM once and I personally thought it was a very fun ride. I don't remember hitting my head once. I was expecting it to be terrible but it was very exciting and fun to me. Laser I only ride if my friends want to ride it. I personally don't get what everyone loves about it. I think it is fun but nothing special. I give GASM the edge over Laser, but that is just my opinion.

Go to Six Flags Great Adventure! Lines won't be too bad on a Tuesday or Thursday in June. Almost everything coaster at Great Adventure Beats Dorney's coasters, imo. Nitro>Steel Force El Toro>Thunderhawk Medusa>Hydra Batman GASM>Laser I only like one coaster better at Dorney than at Great Adventure, and that is Talon. Also, Kingda Ka will probably better than Voodoo and The Dark Knight will probably be better than Wild Mouse.

^^You should be fine, schools in the Lehigh Valley don't start until the last week on August or first week of September. I would still expect crowds though. My guess is the park will be about how crowded I said it will be. It could be longer waits, it could be shorter, but probably somewhere in that range. Also, Dorney has very little shade and it can get quite hot in Allentown. Make sure you wear suntan lotion and ask food stands for free cups of water. In my opinion these are the best seats on the coasters: Talon- front left Hydra- back left Steel Force- back Thunderhawk- first car 3rd row Laser- they assign seats Wild Mouse- doesn't matter I'll let you know about Voodoo when I ride it on May 3rd. Just thought I would tell you that so you can get the best ride possible.

I would assume that the Cobra Roll is complete by the looks of the webcam. Now just the station track connecting the brake run need to be finished. Can't wait to check it out on Sunday! -
You can probably get away with going to Dorney for about a half day on a Saturday if you only plan on riding the major rides. You must be there at opening though to do it. This is how I would do the park... Voodoo- 0-15 minutes Dominator- 0-15 minutes Laser- 5-20 minutes Steel Force- 10-25 minutes Thunderhawk- 5-20 minutes Hydra- 15-30 minutes Lunch- between 12-1pm Wild Mouse- 45-60 minutes Talon- 45-60 minutes You should easily be able to get out of the park by 4-5pm and arrive at Hershey by 7-7:30pm for their preview deal. I live 20 minutes away from Dorney and I go there every week or so in the summer, and this is what I would predict the lines to be if you get there right at opening. Remember hit low capacity rides first. Wild Mouse ALWAYS has a long line and Voodoo is new so people will flock to it. Steel Force and Talon are crowd favorites so expect lines. Dorney does have some of the BEST ride operators around though! Everything WILL be at full capacity on a Saturday. Also, what month are you planning on being there?

I am planning on going to Hersheypark on Sunday 4/6/08. According to weather.com, it is supposed to be sunny with a high of 62 and a low of 43. Their website says basically the whole park will be open except Midway America and the Boardwalk. My question is, what can expect as far as crowds go? I am hoping for short lines so I can get multiple rides on my favorite steel coaster, Storm Runner. Does anyone from past experience know how the lines will be for Storm Runner and Great Bear? Thanks in advance!

Here are some are aerial photos of Fahrenheit from Flyinphilsphotos.com http://www.flyinphilsphotos.com/amuse/pa/hp/2008-03-30/album0 These pictures give a great idea of exactly where the ride is located. All they need to finish is the first part of the Cobra Roll and the track leading back into the station. Thanks for the pictures Flyinphil! They are great as usual! -

^It is probably cause they are testing out different types of wheels and things. It should be back up and testing in no time. Nothing to worry about. -
^They are only about 2 hours apart from each other. Hershey is definitely an all day park. You could also split half a day at Knoebels and go to Dorney after 5 for $19.50. It is a great deal since you will get all the credits in with only 5 hours. You will also be able to get plenty of rerides on the major coasters.

That photo looks awesome! I really hope my plans work out to get there in June. -
^^I went on a Wednesday in June last year (June 20th) and the single rider line was open all day for Griffon. The line was only 20 minutes for back and middle rows and 30 minutes for front.

The loop looks awesome! Also, the first corkscrew is pretty much complete. This means only the cobra roll and the rest of the norwegian loop need to be completed. Almost there! -

Does anyone know if it will have a separate load and unload in the station? That could really increase capacity a lot. Also, does anyone know how the lines with be at the park during Springtime in the Park on Sunday? I'm planning on going and it would be much appreciated if someone helped me out. -

I am not to sure that I like that color orange. Not only does it look bad in my opinion, it looks like they did a messy job painting it on. I will have to see how it turns out once the whole ride is painted. -

I would not put any money on that statement. Springtime in the Park is less than a month away. They still have to finish the track, get all the electrical components ready, build a que, finish the station, and test the trains which I don't know if they are on site yet. It's a possibility that the ride will be testing for Springtime in the Park, but even that is really pushing it. -
I would also suggest Busch Gardens over Kings Dominion. The coasters are better and the park is just so beautiful. On my trip the past summer I didn't really notice a difference in operations. Both parks did great with dispatching trains, but I might have caught Kings Dominion on a good day.

I will say that Behemoth looks awesome now that it has started testing. It appears that the trims are not turned on. It also looks like it is going over the hills faster than Nitro and Apollo's Chariot, so it will have great air if it stays this way. Also, the ride will run faster when it gets warmer and it breaks in.
