The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
rcjp replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They actually seemed to me like a big improvement over Skyrush's design. Distributed the force over a wider area so they didn't dig into your thighs nearly as much. Intamin could learn a thing or two from them. But yes, bumpiness was quite bad. It's interesting how the opinions on the restraints are so different. I haven't ridden it but from the pictures I saw as well as a few comments, I also thought they were an improved version of skyrush's as they did exactly what those failed to do: have a big area of contact. But then I heard some people complaining so I don't know. -

^Yeah, I think it is undeniable that intamin's reliability is not the best. Not that that's something terrible, it just is like that. On the other hand they make some kick-ass innovating rides! Of course there each manufacturer will have their drawbacks and positive aspects. But trying to compare intamin's reliability to B&M's is a bit too much -

^As much as I would like it, I doubt B&M would build something as intense and with such fast transitions. -

The thing with being a B&M is this: they won't just make it an airtime hill filled ride as that would be too close to intmindator, so they probably will try to incorporate other things as fast sections (to give the sensation of speed) which, despite being interesting as it's different from B&M's usual formula, isn't as good (in my opinion) as loads of airtime hills which is what B&M does best (when it comes to hypers). I'm afraid it will end up having only two hills like leviathan. I'll wait for the announcement, and I'm still exited, but slightly afraid of this as well as the new trend of making too short rides. -
Nice pictures! Good to see you had fun. Oh, and helix's queue does look awesome. It makes me want to try it even more!

I too was disappointed by this announcement. However, it seems to be a great area to draw in more families, which means more money for the park, which is a good thing! Hopefully 2016 will bring us a really nice attraction for adults! I can't say much as I've never been to the park and, therefore, don't really know what it was needing. However, I wouldn't say I was disappointed that there wasn't really much for adults except for the drop tower but I do wonder why they couldn't make it just a little taller. I mean, if they're going to add a drop tower, why not make it reasonably tall. Not really complaining, though. This looks like a nice addition. -

You Might Be A Coaster Nerd If....

If you watch so many POVs so many times that you have no idea how it would be to ride a coaster without knowing its layout first. -

^Well, the outside seats on skyrush are lower than the middle ones, so at least you got that right! -

^Oh, ok. Makes more sense now. So if both the coasters for Carowinds and Efteling really are B&Ms, we have one track missing, right? -

^Maybe. But if having normal supports decreased the amount of steel used, for instance, then maybe they could have those instead. -

But isn't this (the one for Spaland) going to be the teal? And the yellow one is going to China. So the only one left now is the one with the double color scheme. Or was that the one you were talking about. -
