You Might Be A Coaster Nerd If....
rcjp replied to PCW_Nut's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If a few years ago when you heard some wooden coasters making that screeching metallic noise you thought: this sounds like a train. And now it's the other way round: you hear a train doing that and think it sounds like some wooden coasters. -
I really like cobra rolls. Even the ones which have a snap (like raptor). I've never ridden a coaster that went upside down without OSTR's. But I will (hopefully) be going to Six Flags Great America in October for Frightfest. Goliath looks like a sweet ride which is why I'm going. Hangime is the best! I've only ridden one coaster with inversions (well, one) and lap bars: sooperdooperlooper. In two weeks I'll be going to Madrid and I'll ride another (Abismo at Parque De Atracciones de Madrid). Is your favorite ride Dragon Khan? Yes! It's B&M at their best. The ride is reasonably forceful, fairly long and has a lot of inversions without being repetitive whatsoever. Plus the zero g roll is the best I've ever tried: it's very fast yet it does really provide weightlessness which some of the others I've tried failed to do. If you haven't ridden it, it should be like Kumba (which I sadly haven't been on yet).

^^ Wait! What about a chicken themed ride? -

^Me too. It looks like that sideways bit will provide zero g and then as you go down and return to "normal" position it will give some floater air. -
I'm a bit like you. I feel that I enjoy inversions more than most people here. Between those and floater air I will always go for inversions. Like you said, I love the feeling of being upside down and still being pushed against the seat as, sometimes, it almost feels like the rest of the world is upside down and not you. That's why I'm not a big fan of hangtime, because it doesn't feel "special" or "weird" in any way. I enjoy an occasional heartline roll but that's it (not a fan of loops with negatives). I think the fact that many times inversions come with a relatively forceful layout also helps. This is why I enjoy rides like bizarro (SFGAdv) more than most people (even though it's not very forceful). Hey, my favourite ride goes upside down 8 items, so..

^It would be possible that they confused it with an S&S free spin. After all they are wing coasters whose seats rotate. I don't know how likely each of these rides is, just saying. -

That's right! The more there are the more accessible for more people to. You could argue that they will no longer be as exclusive but, overall, it's great to see more of these getting built. -

^I was going to say that too. It is indeed the smoothest ride I've been on. Ridiculously smooth, actually. That being said, it's still only two years old. Do al the hypers with these trains in the US have vibrating issues? -

I don't even want to think about the pain with Standup trains and a cobra roll. This is an element I'm still waiting to see on a stand-up (if they ever build one again). That and a B&M zero-g-roll. -

Maybe now there is. But right after the announcement there were a lot of people complaining about the ride. It doesn't really matter anyway, the fact is that quite a few arguments seem to be generated here after roller coaster announcements (especially if it is a B&M). Of course everyone has a right to express their opinion, but this can be done without starting these arguments. -

^Plus it would allow for plenty of inversions (maybe even a record) without having two lifts or 1000 barrel rolls. It could break the record almost without having to repeat any. -

Granted. But it would burn your legs and feet. I wish that the next giga coaster had inversions! -

^I'm still waiting for a hyper/giga (or even strata) looping coaster. A 200 ft + loop would look astonishing! -

And we still don't know why they used the lowered spine track for the turn before the station.... Not that it matters much
