  1. ^^A SUF clone would however fit in that area without expanding back to the Edge Of Africa. I posted it over on OU. Shown here is the area of Tut's Tomb with the approximate space Superman Ultimate Flight @ SFDK takes up in red outline. Google maps hasn't been updated so Pandemonium still shows up...but you see the comparison. I'd rather a nice thrilling, high quality flat go into that area. I think if they were to put in a dark ride, they would use the old Akbar Adventures building across the way. This whole area needs more rides/attractions badly.
  2. Hands up of course!
  3. ^^Well there were before you were born...lol
  4. I know many enthusiasts seem to loathe it, but mine is Nighthawk @ Carowinds.
  5. Cedar Fair - Afterburn Six Flags - Goliath (SFOG) Sea World - Kraken Disney - Expedition Everest Universal - Dueling Dragons Ice (I will forever call it the original name....lol) Herschend - Thunderhead Fun Spot - White Lightning
  6. My top 3 Arrows: 1. Loch Ness Monster 2. Tennessee Tornado 3. Big Bad Wolf (defuct)
  7. Steel: Kraken Wood: Thunderhead (based on what I have ridden)
  8. Coasters: White LIghtning (Carowinds)...even though I never got to ride it 'cause I was scared back then...lol Drachen Fire & Big Bad Wolf (BGW) Viper (SFOG) Flats/Other: Blackbeard's Revenge, Powder Keg Flume, Whirling Dervish, Carolina Sternwheeler, Wild Bull & Gauntlet (Carowinds) Sandstorm (BGT)
  9. I'm so glad I wasn't sitting around waiting on this like a kid at Christmas....lol They will announce what's going to happen with Mantis on their time. We'll just all have to be patient.
  10. Smooth? Eh....I absolutely hated it when I was finally able to get on it when I went a couple years ago. It had been down all day and when it would open, it would run a few cycles with people then shut down. I witnessed 2 breakdowns where they had to evauate from the break run. I had almost given up and really wanted to ride it since it was to be my first SLC as well. Fortunately it didn't break down while in line the last time I tried (or while on it). After I got off I was completely miserable with a headache from hell. Being somewhat seasoned as a coaster rider, and having heard things about the SLC it still didn't help no matter how well I held my head to avoid headbanging. Swamp thing was a dream compared to it. Mind you I went in March when it's still rather cool/mild out. Maybe it's better after the heat of the summer has beat down on the track....lol My 2 favorite coasters there are Viking Voyage and Cheetah. I was absolutely surprised with VV. I rode it multiple times in a row and had I had more time would have kept riding. I was also ecstatic at how smooth Cheetah was. At that time it became my favorite woody until White Lightning @ Fun Spot America opened and this year I rode Thunderhead so that took over. So Cheetah is my #3 woody for now. My favorite flat was Rattler. That's crazy since most spinning rides make me nauseous. It's a nice park to visit ever so often and only 90 minutes from me. I may visit again in the future should they add another coaster...a signature one at that...which would greatly help park attendance. I do like how it's kind of in the middle of nowhere however. I'm sure it has it's busy days, but it was just right when I went. It sounds like you enjoyed the park, and that it wasn't a waste. It definitely is good for the credits and a great starter park for beginners. I hope to take my nephews and niece there sometime if I can ever get my siblings to bring them down this way. Amazing huh? LOL
  11. Volcano: The Blast Coaster was my first. It was the only one I had ridden until Cheetah Hunt opened up at BGT. For some reason there aren't that many in the southeastern US so that's why I've been so limited.
  12. Wood: Gwazi @ BGT Steel: Twisted Typhoon (SLC) @ Wild Adventures
  13. Living in FL (even northern FL), it's not that bad here. An occasional cold spell that lasts a week or so and then back to 70s and 80s. I have dealt with temps in the upper 40s/low 50s a few times while visiting BGT or SWO between Christmas & New Years. Basically you just have to dress appropriately for the temps and when riding coasters add on another layer that you can remove easily if necessary when not riding. Hoodies and tobbogans (skully...whatever you choose to call them) can be your best friend. I also have no issues wearing gloves on a coaster while holding my hands up. They just have to fit properly of course. The coldest I've ever dealt with was at Dollywood this past March. The first day up there wasn't too bad (mid-upper 50's). The next day the park was closed (was a Tuesday...normal thing that time of year) and it snowed in Pigeon Forge and surrounding areas. The next day the sun was back out and it was well below freezing. The park opened but the coasters didn't start opening up until around noon when it got above 40. I was able to get the rest of my credits there, but man was that just cold beyond belief while riding. My partner planned the trip as a bday surprise for me. Had I been in on the planning I would have known better to go that early having grown up in Charlotte. I would have waited a few weeks at least or suggested something else altogether. It was still fun tho and I was able to get all the coasters and most other rides I wanted to ride.
  14. Based on what I've ridden: 1960s: Dahlonega Mine Train (LOL...oldest coaster I've ridden & only one from the 60's, #54 overall) 1970s: Loch Ness Monster (#20 overall) 1980s: Big Bad Wolf (#28 overall) 1990s: Montu (favorite invert & #2 overall) 2000s: Kraken (#1 overall); Honorable Mention Wooden: Thunderhead (#1 wood, #5 overall) 2010s: Cheetah Hunt (#4 overall)
  15. You can check on BGT's attraction closures here. They are scheduled maintenance times, but are subject to change of course: Busch Gardens Tampa Attraction Updates You can check for Universal Orlando's here: Universal Orlando Park Hours & Attraction Closures
  16. The other Vortex is at Carowinds. King's Dominion has Shockwave...a Togo Standup.
  17. ^Please no Vekoma headbanger trains....thanks
  18. Current: 1: Kraken 2: Montu 3: Afterburn 4: Cheetah Hunt 5: Thunderhead 6: Manta (SWO) 7: Nighthawk 8: Volcano 9: Alpengeist 10: Apollo's Chariot (Goliath @ SFOG is #11) Hadn't been to Carowinds, BGW or SFOG since '08 and KD since '99 so some changes will most likely occur next year as I plan on going to Carowinds among those. I've only been on a few decent woodies so there was no sense in making a separate list....lol
  19. I don't know if they would go for another launched coaster since Cheetah Hunt is relatively new still. BGW is adding back-to-back launched coasters so the difference would be.....?
  20. Based on the parks I've been to: Disney: Disney's Animal Kingdom (Only Disney park visited) Universal: Islands of Adventure Six Flags: SFOG (only SF park visited) Cedar Fair (Non-CP): Carowinds Herschend: Dollywood SeaWorld: Busch Gardens Tampa (BGW close 2nd) Independent: N/A
  21. *Updated* North Carolina: Carolina Cyclone South Carolina: Afterburn Virginia: Volcano Georgia: Goliath Florida: Kraken Tennessee: Thunderhead Keep in mind I hadn't been to Carowinds, BGW or SFOG since 2008 and KD since 1999 so if I were to go soon some will likely change. For Carowinds I chose those based on whether the station was in NC or SC.
  22. My most was in 1998: 25 (18 new) between Carowinds (1 new, 7 old), Kings Dominion (10) & SFOG (7).
  23. Sorry...we already have a used boomerang....lol
