^^Unless you get a Fastlane Plus, it would be your best bet to ride Nighthawk first thing as it has the worst capacity and line only builds as the day progresses. Since it's at the front of the park, the line will most likely still be lengthy even near closing time (unless it's raining and everyone scattered home). The rest of the park however could be done counterclockwise as you stated. -

It doesn't have the best capacity. I love the ride however. I went the year it opened and waited over 2 hours. It was worth it...back then. Even when I went the next season there was quite a line....maybe an hour. Today I would just have to get fast lane (if it's offered on it). I hadn't been since 99 so with added age comes less patience....lol). -

If it's in your budget (and it clears up), Carowinds has an after 4pm ticket for $29.99 if you want to go over and get a preview later this afternoon. Also it looks like the bus parking lot is pretty full from the webcam today. The premium parking is filling up as well. Thanks! But I'll wait till tomorrow. I'm out now sight seeing the city! I'm so such a tourist! Well enjoy. Charlotte is my hometown. I've been gone for 9 years (outside of a weekend visit 5 years ago). I'll be going up in June for a week and can't wait! -

You should be fine. Local schools are still in session. I went on a Saturday during spring break and the only thing that had a line was Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin (45min). Everything else was showing a 30 minute wait or less, but was more like half that or walk on (in the morning at least). The new Clyde and Seamore show is open so be sure to check that out. That may be the busiest show since it's newer so just be sure to show up 15-30 minutes before showtime depending on how busy the park is to get a good seat. Otherwise I usually just go clockwise around the park starting with Manta. The show times are listed on the park's website so you can match that up with the park map to see about when you want to be where without too much backtracking. -

What's your favorite Flat ride?
cwgator replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Update: It was frisbees until I went to Dollywood last year. So now Screamin' Swings are my favorite. I've been on Barnstormer @ Dollywood and Space Invader at Fun Spot America in Orlando. My favorite of the 2 is Barnstormer. Space Invader @ Fun Spot America Orlando Barnstormer @ Dollywood -

The only one I've been on: Rattler @ Wild Adventures. It's my 2nd favorite type of flat ride after Screamin Swings. Odd since I normally don't handle spinning rides well. Disk'os however...not so much. Rattler @ Wild Adventures -

Just googled the zierer ride you mentioned. Looks really cool, but never seen any parks that have one. Where did you ride it at? There's one at Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall Of America nickelodeonuniverse.com/jimmy-neutrons-atomic-collider/ -

It shouldn't be too crowded in the morning with schools in session. However after school lets out in the afternoon it will get much busier since the park is open until 10 that night. -

1: Spring break for Charlotte schools is next week (starts this Friday) and the park will be pretty busy next week. If the weather is lousy it may not be as bad, but with Fury who knows. 2: If you are going to be at the park only one day you may want the FL+ if you wish to have multiple rides on Fury 325 and the other coasters. You may want to wait until you get to the park to be sure you need it. 3: Ride Nighthawk first before the park gets crowded as it has the slowest loading/dispatch times due to design. Even with FL+ you may wait several cycles depending on how many others have it who are trying to ride. After that you can pretty much hit the rest of the park counter clockwise. For lunch (or dinner) you should try Harmony Hall over by Intimidator. They have quite a variety of food choices. -

^^Charlotte schools are in session this week. Depending on if the snow days didn't eat it up, spring break for them is next week (starts this Fri) and should be busier. I anticipate this weekend to be quite busy because of Easter (Fri-Mon). -

You do realize that Disney, Universal, Seaworld/Busch Gardens, Hershend Parks and most Cedar Fair parks do not have metal detectors right? Most of those parks get well over double the attendance Carowinds gets and there isn't a problem there. Since it looks like SFOG may be your home park from your screen name I guess I can see where you would feel unsafe. I would say however I think a bag check like the previous mentioned park chains have at the gate would be good to have. Those metal detectors (that Paramount put in) made the park's entrance look trashy and fugly. I'm glad they didn't put new ones in with the remodel. -

In the past it hasn't been too crazy; at least not like summer peak. This year that could change as the park looks to be having it's best opening day ever. It will greatly depend on the weather there. If there is a high chance of rain it won't be as busy, but still should have decent crowds. The 3 train operation is going great just from watching the webcams. They have been almost consistently dispatching a train and it be halfway up the lift while the one in front is exiting the helix and 3rd train loading in the station. The seat belts don't seem to be hurting dispatch times and there is assigned seating (same on Intimidator and Afterburn from other sources). On slower days they may be a little more relaxed. -

I know what windbreaker you're talking about. There are TONS of them that actually say "VIP." They were given to season pass holders for free a few years back. I live 10 minutes from cedar point and the local goodwill stores have tons of those jackets that were donated since then. I actually still have mine from 2008. -
