  1. Sounds like one of the original rides planned for DCA, but cut for "budget reasons"!
  2. Rocket coaster UP-Screaming Squirrel DOWN!
  3. How about this picture? Mystery coaster
  4. "A runner who died after last weekend's Walt Disney World Half-Marathon suffered from a congenital heart problem and heart disease, the Orange Osceola Medical Examiner's Office said today. Those two contributing factors mixed with over exertion likely produced a fatal heart beat and cardiac arrest," said Sheri Blanton, manager of the office." http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/orange/orl-bk-runner010906,0,7498836.story?coll=orl-home-headlines
  5. A kick-ass coaster at Expo 86, now at SFSL as Ninja, has this history: This roller coaster was initially started by Arrow. After the project started, Arrow fell into bankruptcy. The project was then picked up and completed by Vekoma. http://www.rcdb.com/id2934.htm I hear she's a little rougher now... Happier smoother times...
  6. So the S & S design is safer? Not as much of an overhang to get caught up
  7. I like the 23x23. The 30's have a lot of detail, but they can be too distracting in the wrong place. I agree with the 23 default with 30 in more emoticons.
  8. I prefer the track with the old fast scooters Scooters in Seaside, Oregon. Haven't been there yet, but it's on my short list.
  9. I've only been to DLR, but I wonder how many votes DCA will get?
  10. ACE'r bending over Ohio ACE'r bending over after a week in California uttr:
  11. I love that $14.95 kids price at Knott's. No discounts, no coupons.
  12. Breakdance looks a lot like this design. As long as you keep your head back, Breakdance is fun.
  13. All big names have these semi/full arty nude 16 month calendars... Nude coastering has been done... time to bring us a calendar of it.... it will outsell the hoodies and gives great free advertisement as it will be brought on the news... all you have to do is some market investigation if the Elissa or the Robb cover would sell the best... No hate mail please... Only goofing around... I think you can find some source material here http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-13101336,00.html
  14. Would be nice if Enchanted Village dropped down to $73.99 to match. Having a friendly greeting at the gate can make a big difference in a park-going day.
  15. What are you going to do today, Napolean? gonnadotoday.mp3 Whatever I feel like I wanna do...Gosh!
  16. There's always Carl's Jr, Fatburger, or even one of the nationwide chains. I remember Expo 86 had outrageously priced food, but 5 McDonalds'-at regular price. VERY popular.
  17. Unless it costs more to fix it up to OHSA standards, duh, it will be bought by somebody. This is the carny industry we're talking about. When a new state of the art coaster costs $21 million dollars, of course someone will buy a looper for half a million.
  18. I saw the pictures of that fish hook design. Was it meant to drop down Strat and up the other side? I think that would be cool enough, but even better would be a Superman the Escape type ride with a DOWNWARD launch. So 205 feet=82 mph 420 feet=120 mph 456 feet=128 mph 750 feet~170 mph?
  19. --Your 2005 year in review: Stayed close to home: my daughter decided to brave coasters this year-her first one-the classic woodie at Playland! --Your first coaster of the year: The woodie at Playland --Your last coaster of the year: The woodie at Playland --Best new steel to me: Looping Thunder at Oaks Park, Portland Oregon. A little Pinfari 42 with a 31 foot loop. Tiny, but a really kick-ass ride! --Best new wood to me:Timber Terror or Tremors at Silverwood. --Best new flat ride to me: Screamin Eagle at Oaks. A KMG Fireball/Afterburner. I screamed my face off on this one. --Best new water ride to me: Not much new this year, the log ride at Silverwood was good. --Best new dark ride/walk through to me: Lewis and Clark at Oaks gets both the best and cheesiest award here. --Best new water park attraction to me: The water park at Silverwood looks good, too bad it was too fricking cold that day. --Best new park to me: Silverwood. --Best park "moment" of the year: Daughter deciding to go on the woodie at Playland, I now have a coaster buddy. --Best overall park "trip" of the year: South to the Oaks in Portland, East to Silverwood, north to Hot Springs. --Worst new attraction (any kind) to me of the year: Sad to say, the old Corkscrew from Knott's, now at Silverwood is rougher than hell-apparently new restraints are on the way. --Best event at a park: PNE at Playland-free rides with Park admission on opening morning. My daughter and I were upside down too many times to count in 3 hours! --Best non-event day at a park: The day at Oaks. --Best non-park related moment of the year: Hot springs later. --Favorite TPR post/thread of the year: "My angry letter to Universal". --Best Amusement related news of the year: Tatsu! --Worst Amusement related news of the year: SFNO flooded/SFAW closing --Ride that I had to rethink my opinion of in 2005: Corkscrew now at Silverwood. I thought I would never hate a looping coaster. It's just painful to ride now-I hope the new restraints help. Here's the Screamin' Eagle
  20. My wife points out the whole theme of Playland is that it has no theme...being the location of the PNE with extra carny rides during the fair, the theme is- CARNY! Remember the ad campaign from a few years back with the turnstile stuck on 666? What other park do you know of that names their rides Hell's Gate, The Hellevator, and Revelation? There's your theme-Come to the Carny Park-if you dare! Remember the bus to get there-the old Number 14 that was so wierd they made a play about it. The (in)famous number 14. Ride it-if you dare!
  21. Not to re-mention that the Six Flags Season Passes are good for the other Six Flags parks the same season, yes? Paramount passes are too, I seem to remember. Playland in Vancouver has no such thing. The pass is for that park only. And only one really good coaster - the corkscrew is crap and the wild mouse is so old and in need of repairs.... "Western Canada's Premier Amusement Park" is honestly a big flat asphalt carney fair that has nothing on any real theme park. Even SF Enchanted Village, has trees and shade and some shape to it, which is way more appealing IMhO. My eleven-year old loves the Mouse. It scares the hell out of me sometimes. Yes, that is padding and yes, I think it's a good thing it's there...
  22. I guess it's SFWWAEV? Six Flags Wild Waves and Enchanted Village between Seattle and Tacoma, Washington. Paying $79.99 US for a year pass there doesn't really make sense unless we're heading to California later in the year. Playland in Vancouver, BC usually opens almost a month earlier and the yearly pass usually costs around $49-59 CAN! Plus the Woodie is in the top 20 on the coaster poll.
  23. That's where LIMs were so promising. Looks like Superman at Magic Mountain is showing its age, though. I could picture a monster coaster with a 100+ mph launch and computer-controlled LIMS about half way up and at the top hat. They would check your speed and give you another boost if needed. Also, LIMs can be used for braking if you get too much of a tailwind. I'm also thinking they're going to have to put bug shields on the front row someday.
  24. Here they are: The mine train The mouse The corkscrew The woodie
  25. What I don't get is: SFMM 3 days away $49.99, open all year 17 coasters. SFMW 2 days away $54.99, open March 3, 6+ coasters. SFEV 3 hours away $79.99, open usually late April, 3 coasters.
