I got my Associate of Science in Engineering, but now I'm not sure which way to go. Since 1978 when I entered the work force, I've more or less stayed in the engineering/manufacturing field, but I'm looking hard at doing something completely different, along with finishing at least my Bachelor's degree. Maybe it's a mid-life crisis or something! Eric

That looks like a great miniature golf course. It's definitely the first one I've seen with a REAL water hazard! I like that---it makes the course that much more challenging. You ought to see the one on Catalina Island out here. My brother has lived on the island since the late '70s and I go out to visit now and then. Next time I'm there (which may be soon), I'll get some pictures of this course. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun! Eric

Just a side note, there were two separate Eagle's Flight rides originally. From the station at the top of the mountain (the one we're talking about, and which was called the Shangri-La station BTW) you could go north to the Galaxy Station (right where the Superman tower is now) or northwest to the El Dorado Station (just behind where the Freefall tower is now). So there, y'all learned something today. Eric

I have a feeling that neither Orient Express nor Sky Tower are going anywhere. But they both have to remain closed in order for construction to take place. The old Eagle's Flight station coming into the picture has thrown me for a loop. SFMM really ought to do something with that space, either by using the old building somehow or tearing it down to build something else. Has anyone thought of the possibility of several attractions/shops/restaurants going in up there? The marked construction area is way too big in my opinion to be putting in just a coaster, in my opinion. Wouldn't it be great if we were getting not only a coaster, but a flat ride or two, or maybe some kind of drop tower? All the construction at SFMM these days is indeed getting interesting. I can't wait to see what the mountain looks like next spring! Eric

I just walked right in. A few tried to stop me, but I beat them into submission with my cane and threatened to run over RatTums with my ECV. They let me stay. Plus, I help fill the quota of diabetics. Eric

Desperado at Buffalo Bill's is a good, long ride, but the last time I rode it (1999) it had gotten pretty rough. I don't know if they do rehabs on it, but everyone pretty much says it's still rough. My recommendation: Give it a try; you have to judge for yourself what's rough and what isn't. X-Scream is that tilting thing on the tower. I rode it last summer---and I had the car all to myself. It's pretty creepy rolling down that little track to what appears to be a 1000 ft. drop. My recommendation: Go up there and ride it. And do the other rides up there, too, although if you skip the High Roller you haven't missed much. Eric

Token Yankee Guy asked "Plus it was night time...who jogs at night?" Actually, I walk at night because it's cool and quiet. However, I have the sense to wear a neon green vest with reflective strips. Only someone blind or not paying attention could miss that. Eric

My ride is a 2002 Honda CR-V, tan---er, Mojave Mist as Honda calls it. My wife drives a 2003 Toyota Highlander, dark blue---er Bluestone Metallic as Toyota calls it. Diana wants a pink Honda S2000. Honda doesn't have a name for that color... Eric

Thanks, everyone, for the birthday wishes. I celebrated Birthday No. 46 by taking the day off and going to USH for the first time in five years. At long last, I got my Mummy credit. When I get a few minutes, I'll post a trip report even though I didn't do everything there. And even though I walked all over USH multiple times, I'll go out for a few more miles because it's so nice out, and no one's home anyway. Eric

I got a slice of birthday cake a day early, but that's only because one of the kids in Diana's youth group had a birthday today. But, I'm taking tomorrow off to go do WHATEVER...because I can. And in other news, a can of Diet Coke stays fizzier when it's cold, so I now keep my cans of Diet Coke in the fridge. Eric
