  1. The noise also has to do with the fact that S:TE has an I-beam track. Sound is not as muffled as with tubular steel track. Stand under Jaguar! at Knott's sometime and note how loud it is. It, too, uses an I-beam track. Eric
  2. JetBlue also flies Airbus A320s, and they, too, have the video screens on the seatbacks. You can't order food or communicate with other passengers, but there's enough to watch during a routine flight. Back in October, we flew jetBlue non-stop from Burbank to Orlando. They've since discontinued that route, but I'd fly jetBlue again if I could. Eric
  3. This is Southern California. There is no off-season. Seriously, I do have some non-coaster hobbies, believe it or not. Photography, coin collecting, diabetes, cartooning, cars, and probably some other stuff that I can't think of right now. Eric
  4. ^ Has a loopy avatar. < Has a warthog avatar. V Has a warthog face!
  5. I have a great deal through my mortgage lender for a refinance that will pretty much wipe out most of our debt, but my wife won't sign the papers because she doesn't trust that lender. Pretty dumb because this is a MAJOR bank and the deal they're offering (they actually approached us) can't get much better. Eric
  6. I had a paper route back in 1970. Eric
  7. Credit weather in Southern California? Yeah, most of time---unless it snows in Malibu (which it did yesterday) or at SFMM... Do you like strawberries?
  8. ^ So do I---I just hope my wife doesn't find out! Just kidding. Today I whipped up a banana cream Diet Coke. Mmmmmm... Eric
  9. "It's less than an hour before I eat lunch. Now...what to have...?" (me earlier) I ended up going to Burger Barn for a chili cheese dog, certainly the most diabetic-friendly meal I could have had! But I did take my insulin before going... Eric
  10. ^ In all honesty, I disagree, but your name is yours to do whatever you want with it. Eric
  11. ^^^ Chris, I know how you feel. I, too, want to see so many things here in the U.S., and less and less I feel like I have to "hit all the parks." I just don't have that "drive" to get out and rack up as many credits as I can. At one time, where I went was determined by what ride/park there was at my destination, but now I'm more interested in going to places I've never been, regardless of whether there's a coaster waiting for me there. But, staying on-topic, as coasters go, I'm happy riding what's close by here in SoCal. Not the greatest, but most are still fun. Eric
  12. OK, time to play nice... On my mom's side: Scottish-Irish and a dash of Blackfoot Indian. On my dad's side: English, Welsh, Swedish, French. So, basically, an old white guy. But still diabetic... Eric
  13. ^ Has a long screen name. < Has a short screen name. V Has a foreign language screen name!
  14. It's less than an hour before I eat lunch. Now...what to have...? Eric
  15. Yes, I saw it ages ago. I think you weren't born yet... Did it rain or snow in your area today?
  16. We got some rain here in Camarillo, but it wasn't cold enough to snow. Had it rained a few days ago, however... Eric
  17. It is the diligence of moderators that helps to keep forums clean. That's why over at Westcoaster, our boards look as nice as they do. There also has to be a zero tolerance for crap, for instance: ThIs KiNd Of StUfF. dont do this either. Be shur to spel chekc whut u write and u shouldnt write like this. And so on. Believe it or not, I've actually received PMs from people thanking me for pushing them to use proper English grammar. There's nothing wrong with having a style, but make that style in the content of your post rather than the appearance of it. Listen to Robb and Elissa and take their advice, as well as the moderators'. You might just pick up some good writing habits that will take you places in the future. Eric
  18. You bet it is, no joke. Seriously, though, let's not turn this into another "Bench---The Ride." That really did get old. Eric
  19. ^ I'll be nice and not ask why... My rant: too many bills, too little cash... Eric
  20. Half white, half senior citizen, and half diabetic. Eric
  21. Yes. Do you like this game?
  22. So, you were closer to that mirror than it appeared, huh? Eric
  23. I hope KidTums won't bite anyone... Eric
  24. Here in Camarillo, we're about 150 feet above sea level and about 15 miles from the beach. It snowed here about 1979 or 1980 and left us with about an inch or two of snow. Of course it didn't last long, but it was really snow. Eric
  25. "Today I had a 4D Ultrasound for the first time!" (SharkTums) I hope the seat didn't spin while you were there... Today, I drank an Almond Coke for the first time (brewed here at home). Eric
