  1. Flexibility is what keeps a lot of structures standing during seismic disturbances. Rigidity can be catastrophic.
  2. I was looking at the website for Schnepf Farms and it says that it is open for reservations only. How early did you go about making the reservation and what were the costs involved? Was there a minimum party amount? I'd like to go sometime.
  3. Santa Cruz beach boardwalk - Tomorrow. I hope Fireball is just as good as last time I rode it. Killer programing!
  4. I'm really looking forward to ERT on V2. It was my favorite ride in the park last time I was there. Just something about it ... because it isn't the best ride ever or anything, it's just a LOT of fun. I have never laughed so much on a coaster before. And I never did see the animals when I visited. So that will be cool too.
  5. I'll be at Santa Cruz on Thursday. So, staying in Santa Clara might not be a bad idea. At least I'd know I'm staying at a decent place, in a good area. Depending on the cost of the room, I'd be interested in staying in Santa Clara wherever you have rooms. Thank you much for the quick reply and offering to help.
  6. I have a question as far as lodging is concerned. I've checked out reviews on Yelp and Tripadvisor and all the reviews, even for the "nicer" ones have been really bad. I don't have a ton of money to spend, but I don't want to stay at a nasty place either. When I did my East Coast trip last year I spent some time at Motel 6's. Some were bad, but none were so horrible I couldn't stay there. The reviews for the Motels 6's in the Vallejo area are not exactly the best. But sometimes reviews are deceiving. Maybe they are not bad for what you pay. Does anyone have recommendations on where to stay, where to avoid, etc? I was even looking at surrounding cities. I wouldn't mind driving in 30 mins if it means I can stay at a cleaner, safer place. Some of the reviews said "I got my car broken into." Heh. Thanks
  7. Just like the Government knows what they are doing and no one should ever complain or question them.
  8. Oh god, there are so many "that's what she said" jokes in this thread. Where do I start?
  9. This really sucks. I'm glad I finally made it out to BGE last summer. Now I just wish I rode it more, took more pics of it, etc. Never did I think it would be gone the next year. What's really disappointing is that the coaster, built for that plot of land, would be very hard to sell to another park. Sure, it could be retrofitted to fit in another park with a lot of hills, but I don't think anyone wants to buy a 25 year old coaster. Especially if the maintenance issues are factual. The only saving grace is if they put this land to good use and wow us with an amazing coaster. I' hope for some sort of terrain woodie. Give me something like Boulder Dash. Now, as far as how I would rank this Arrow Suspend ... I love the slow section at the start where you weave through the village. The last drop over the water is the best part of any suspended coaster I have been on. But the lift hill in the middle really broke up the pacing for me. People complain about the lift at the end of Ninja. I thought the lift in the middle of BBW was worse. And, Ninja is a better overall ride. I do hope that Magic Mountain hangs on to it longer than BG did with BBW.
  10. As long as you don't live in California like I do. We don't have backyards.
  11. Um, well it looks like a storage area to me. Why would they go out of their way to build a special roof to keep people from seeing a "secret project?" Plus, there is nothing else going on around the building. Definitely not a coaster.
  12. ^ How would one cook the bacon? Perhaps you could place a raw piece between the thighs of an ACN member before the train departs and rely on friction.
  13. I think I'd take onboard audio over flames, but flames that cook bacon that you can then eat when you get off would take the cake How about onboard audio that gives you the sound of sizzling bacon? And then, like you said, at the end you get to eat some. Mark me down for some ERT.
  14. ^ Yeah, that does seem to be the "theme" these days. But you know, I can't complain about flames. I'd be alright with all the new coasters having flames. Oh, and bacon. They need to add bacon next time.
  15. So they tear down the local church and replace it with a mediocre inverted roller coaster.
  16. Well let me be the first to discredit what little hype it does get by saying its lame. "It's lame". Goliath may not be the best coaster out there, but it is far from lame. I mean, if Goliath is lame, then that would mean at least 95% of all coasters in the world are "lame." To me, and no offense, anyone who thinks Goliath is lame is just spoiled. For example, check out what these people have to settle for - http://www.authorstream.com/Presentation/aspey-189551-disney-al-estilo-cubano-castrista-entertainment-ppt-powerpoint/
  17. Wait a minute! I thought Pharaoh's Lost Kingdom closed a while back.
  18. I'd imagine it will be Disneyland on my birthday. Yay for getting old!
  19. Except if it wasn't for the Terminator theme, I doubt we would have had those additional tunnels, onboard sound or flames. All those things add a lot to the ride.
  20. Yeah, Colossus isn't too bad compared to other wooden coasters from the 70's
  21. Looks like a high school mascot logo. And in the mystery coaster department, I'm going with the following:
  22. Well, Ghostrider is fairly rough these days. Though, my last ride in a non wheel seat wasn't too bad. But if you wanna crash into a coaster, I can think of a lot I'd rather see destroyed first.
  23. Hades and Mt Olympus in general. I was really looking forward to going. Place was nasty, coasters were really rough.
