Awesome stuff. Love SeaWorld, as you know. Kraken is a great ride that doesn't get a whole lot of love, glad to see you were enjoying it and it's still in decent shape. Really looking forward to the Discovery Cove report because I basically pleaded everyone to go in one of these threads years ago and talked about how awesome it is and posted a bunch of photos of giant-ass stingrays because nobody ever talks about it.... hoping it lived up to my recommendation. And since CoasterBill isn't getting around to it anytime soon, you mind as well beat him to the punch Love reading this!

Princess cancelled all cruises until May 10... ours was May 9. We had the option to take a credit plus bigger bonus, or refund plus little bonus. We just took the full refund it was only a difference if a 50% bonus vs 25% . Who knows what prices will be like in the future plus if I get a credit and go on a cheap cruise I don't know if you get the rest of that credit for future cruises too? Either way I opted for refund. That being said, the same cruise we were to go on that is still scheduled for the following week is ridiculously cheap and half the price, so it seems silly to take the credit unless we want to take multiple cruises... which may or may not be a thing, I didn't really look at the small print. Because it's outside the April 30 timeframe that most flights and businesses are pointing towards rebooking, we filled out a form with travel expenses and supposedly princess will be rembursing us the cancelled flights? We shall see.

Second time is a charm! Found another house... offer accepted... Inspection went great this time.... got our mortgage rate locked in on literally the best possible day it could have been locked in on before demand would drive rates back up (3.125% 30yr conventional)... got the house for under the appraised value... got the commitment letter... now just have to buy the insurance and do all the legal stuff.... and hopefully we move in next month if all goes well! Weeee! Oh, and I work in IT at a healthcare facility, so I'm pretty sure I'll have my job for awhile... -- I am so very thankful and lucky for the way everything has been going during these weird times. Even though my cruise was cancelled, everything else has been great and I have no right to complain.

Unfortunately the inspection results was a bunch of bad news bears and we said no to the house. Good news is we were smart enough to do an inspection.

Thanks! And to help pay for the house, I just deposited $59.50 worth of cans at the recycling center! [emoji13]

Saw about 13 houses over the past 2 weekends, found one we loved, put in an offer.... and it was accepted! Inspection this weekend... things are moving fast!

Hahaha... alright... WHAT'S IN THE BOX!? So, a chain link fence against the left side... a chain link fence against the right side.... a straight path to walk down the middle.... -- some green lights... and one scaractor behind the fence on the left side. Note that there were no props to hide behind and it was just a straight path. That's what was in the box. Honestly Midway Mayhem was 1/4 the size but at least it wasn't a straight shot through, lol. That one was better! It would fit right in at Six Flags Darien Lake fright fest.

What someone on the Darien Lake thread would actually be thinking to be a legitimate business proposal: "They should buy the starflyer. Kind of do what Hershey did with the 3 drop towers maybe they will get 3 different sized starflyers around the park. Sky screamer 1 (mini), sky screamer 2 (Basic), sky screamer 3 (XXL)."

Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread
anonymouscactus replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know about IB... but Fantasy Island was selling season passes for about $34 which included the end half of the previous year, parking, plus free tickets for friends, etc. Plus their own little haunt. No way they can survive on that. Back in the day, before Apex, Marty charged more than even Darien Lake passes, but the locals who lived on Grand Island still went.... at the very least.... Curious... were the Indiana Beach passes just as cheap? EDIT: answered my own question thanks to archive.org... -
Florida. Florida or California citrus?

I don't know the actual science behind it, or if it still applies, or if it was actually true, but originally when the ride first opened we always had to make everyone go through the line and preshows for the 10 minutes or whatever to help get the moisture off of everyone as to not affect the A/C units, or freeze them up, or whatever. And in turn, the safety of the animals. That being said, i'd be curious to see what the relative humidity is in the exhibit area and if it's really as "dry" as it supposedly needs to be. I'm guessing it wouldn't matter on any normal Florida day, but I could see maybe if everyone came in soaking wet without going through preshow making it actually matter? Employees went into the exhibit without issue, so, who knows. The preshow rooms definitely sucks moisture out with giant units, but requiring it for guests is up in the air in my opinion if it's really just for traffic flow or if it could actually affect the exhibit or not. Or if it's one of those "better safe than sorry" things so that just kept with it. Again, I'm not an HVAC guy Take that as you will. Honestly I think it's just for traffic flow reasons to not let people through the exit, but there may be more to it.

Thanks for the info! I think the only two new rides for me at Universal Studios is Jimmy Fallon and Fast and Furious. Both of which I don't care if I were to miss them. Also that new Bourne thing may be open by then. But. *shrug*. Other than Mummy (which I can ride at night), I can't think of anything that really stands out to me. (I think rip rocket is easily skipable as well). I don't think I can justify the price difference for the Hopper, as there just isn't enough worthwhile to do at Studios, for me, especially if I have the option to ride some during HHN. Just my opinion. Islands has a LOT that I really enjoy, plus the Potter Coaster and Kong which would be new to me. Planning on Thursday Sept 17th at this moment, or possibly that Sunday instead, so HHN crowds shouldn't be TOO TOO bad, but who really knows with that park; I've seen crazy wait times on social media before. Honestly we may just skip HHN and just do Islands. We will definitely be going to BGT daytime + Howl-o-Scream and that may be enough to get our fill. It's still a long ways away to decide our master plan, but thanks for that info.

Can someone remind me how the "holding pens" at Horror Nights work specifically if we want to do Islands during the day, and Studios/HHN during the night. If we have a day ticket at the opposite park (NOT a Hopper ticket) do they still let us into a special area at a certain time, or am I out of luck since it's the opposite park? My guess is there isn't anything for us, but I vaguely remember back in the day where was some way to do this (though it may have only been only with the 3pm stay and scream ticket which they no longer offer). Thanks! Trying to get my plan of attack done 9 months early... lol...

Lol! Not sure why it's so funny, but it is. I approve.

Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
anonymouscactus replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yukon striker has a split at the bottom of the stairs where you choose "row 1" or "rows 2 & 3" (which goes twice as fast). If row 1 starts to flow into where the split is they will force you to the other rows, even if you request, because it would prevent people from getting up the stairs. Leviathan doesn't have a separate queue but the station rails are a little longer to accommodate a request for the front row to the grouper. They usually won't assign you front row because it's usually longer than a train wait so you have to ask. They don't force only one trainload to wait in the front like some rides, so you can ask and most likely they will let you unless it's the end of the night. Hopefully that makes sense.
