You shouldn't have a problem saving the money required to go on the trip... I'd probably budget around $1200 for the trip. It may not be that much, but it's always good to overestimate. I just went on a road trip to Milwaukee, Chicago, and Minneapolis/St Paul a couple weeks ago, and had a measly $600 budgeted for the entire thing. My estimates were way off, and I ended up spending around $900, which totally boggled my mind until I realized the error of my calculations [travelling with non-Nikki people, expensive parking, more unplanned activities, more meals than usual, pricier hotels, etc]. Working 20 hours a week should easily give you that in two or three months [assuming you spend money on other things during that time], so planning for April should leave you enough time to suitably beef up your bank account, especially with other sources of cash coming your way. Anyway, I'd do option a. You may encounter some problems along the trip - driving between parks will get very annoying, especially considering the length of the drive of a few of them [KI to KW especially], and you'll have to encounter some of the parks on a weekend [iB and HW would be my recommendation, I guess]. There's probably more I intended to say but I got distracted by pretty flashing lights and now I've forgotten. Maybe I will addend this post later. Good luck!

Are you serious? Idlewild has the same exact ride...with the same exact name. And it's awesome! -

Awesome idea! The trains could have the blue, red, and white theme like Evel's ride suit, too, haha. This coaster looks really good, and gives me more motivation to get my ass to planning the Missouri Vulva Excursion for next year! -

Looks interesting, and definitely will be ridden by me at some point, but doesn't excite me. Am I the only one underwhelmed by all of these "OMG 90 DEGREES DOWNWARDS HERE COME RIDE" coasters lately? Yawn. Not to mention I think they look really awkward, clunky and ugly to the eyes. The colour schemes rarely help this. Good addition to the park, but the capacity issues and some other things people have brought up might contribute to a lack of positive reviews in the coming months. To be honest? I'm more excited for the Tornado!!! I love those things! -
Having two mice that close does seem weird... but I guess they're banking on the enclosure making it unrecognizable to the GP. If you can't see it's a mouse, you won't know it's a mouse. I like your proposed idea... Ragin Cajun was pretty lame, but enclosing it might actually add some enjoyment to it. I guess perhaps they don't want people to just be riding the same coaster - but in the dark, instead riding a "brand new coaster" in the dark so they won't know what's coming.

I have the strangest feeling you're quoting the ride op on that. You got it! You win the secondary prize - nothing! We really weren't trying to come off as cynical, but for some like me who was almost a CP fanboy at one point [after the first couple of visits], this one just sort of was a wake-up call. We didn't spend nearly as much time at the park as on previous visits, and yet still were bored by the end with little to no drive to go on any coasters other than our favourites [MF, Raptor, Disaster Transport, WIKI TWISTA]. I was even unimpressed with Magnum this time, something that I hadn't ever been before... I think it's burnout, which I was figuring we wouldn't get since we hadn't been there in awhile. Ah well! -

We were walking from our motel room to the car and I almost stepped on the little guy. He was literally just walking from door to door of the motel. I had no clue the things could jump! That kinda terrified me. -

To go with Elissa's theme that it's always a tsunami water tornado day at Cedar Point, on the Saturday we were there, there were angry clouds flying over the park all day, but it failed to rain for most of it. Nikki and I were walking back to Maverick to get a ride, and it was just absolutely black above us, but the darkest clouds had passed over. I finally said out loud, "That's so weird that it hasn't rained yet." Of course, no sooner did I get the sentence out than it began to pour like crazy for the next 20 minutes. Fortunately, this lessened the line for Maverick and we ended up getting on in 40 minutes afterwards. Yay! This was the first time in our five trips to CP that we had dealt with any rain, amazingly. And it rained off/on all weekend... so there's that. -

My life got a little better the second I finished riding Maverick, when I realized I'd never have to ride it again. Although to be honest, I'll probably force myself on another time or two just to reaffirm my belief that I dislike it. I mean, I've gone on PCW's Tomb Raider twice! -

I gotta tell ya, I am PUMPED for the start of the season. It's too bad the most exciting stuff has already happened... the huge linebrawl on Long Island, and the melee following the big hit by Steve Downie on Dean McAmmond.
-
Ya had to post your damn report right after ours, huh? I'm amazed at how much people are digging on Maverick, I just don't get it! The back was awfully rough, and the front wasn't much better. Opinions and whatnot! The launch was really cool, but isn't it pointless to have a huge cool launch like that right into brakes? Kind of defeats the purpose. Oh and boy, am I glad they took that flatspin out after the launch... yeesh.

Elissa mentioned that Will or Pat said it was around 2500 feet [number could be high but it was well over 2000], and they're none too pleased about it. -
Yeah, I was using the wrong route to get there [forgot that you could cut across the state instead of going up 79 to 90 and across]. You could most likely get both done in a single day then.
-
GL and KW could probably be done in a day... Nikki and I went on a very busy Friday night in August, and managed to get on half the credits in three or four hours, and multiple rides on Phantom and Thunderbolt. The full park can definitely be done in five or six hours. It depends, though - GL is nearly a four hour drive from KW, so it'd be hard-pressed to get all credits in one day. It's worth a shot but it's no guarantee!
-
On your map, it shows you driving through Louisville - if this is the case, you will drive right past SFKK! While I personally didn't like the park too much, they do have an awesome stand-up and I hear the waterpark is at least decent. But looking at your schedule, it seems as though you might not have enough time for more than an hour or two stay at SFKK. If you're not looking to just do "credit runs" to parks, then maybe you avoid it, but if you're okay with just running in, getting all the credits, and leaving, it's a good park to stop at. We went on June 7, 2006, and got everything done within about two hours [including re-rides]. There were virtually no lines at all. Just something to consider. It wouldn't be out of the way at all, and they have at least one very good coaster. As larrygator mentioned, Waldameer would be a good choice after you finish with Geauga Lake. But looking at your road map, going to Waldameer would add some extra driving to your trip, which is probably not something you want to do! So I'd say skip it.

The final brake run should be large enough to accomodate two trains for the inevitable stacking. Was it confirmed that there would be three trains on Behemoth? Seems very un-Wonderlandy. Stupid jerk above me got post #307 in the thread! Damn you , stupid jerk! -
Maverick - Is it worth the wait?
307 replied to jason10's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would definitely say it's worth the wait if you've never been on it before. Why? Because I'm waiting in the line no matter how long it is when we go next week, because I've never been on it before. But if waiting in a smaller line is more important to you than actually riding what could be an "amazing" coaster, then no, I would say don't bother waiting. -

That's funny! Wow look at what I started. Honestly though, I really have no problem with the goth culture, and yes I do know people that are goth and they are fine people. Do what you want I don't care, everybody has their own thing they are into whether it be goth, emo, whatever and if that's is what they want to represent then who am I to say differently. I am 36 and no, I am not an idiot. I just like messin with you all cause it's really fun and apparently it's really easy too. Careful there, don't want to trip over yourself trying to backtrack out of this. I figured you were joking with the "beat them with bats" thing, but it was still a bad joke. Not because I care about violence and whatnot, just because it was a bad joke. -
Alton Towers wants to control the weather!
307 replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Huh, I suppose that's what the article did say. That seems less likely to work out in the park's favour. Though trying to control the weather is a pipedream to begin with in my eyes.
