Photo TR - Impulse Opens at Knoebels!
805Andrew replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Impulse looks better than the blueprints made it out to be when the ride was announced. I didn't need an excuse to go back to Knoebels but now I have one anyway. -

I still don't get how this is a coaster. A powered coaster maybe? -

I've flown many different airlines, but many favorite I've flown by far was British Airways in 2001 and 2004. I'll be flying ANA for the first time this June so we'll see if that tops BA. My favorite airline for domestic flights I've been on is Virgin America. I usually book with a combination of what's cheapest, most convenient, and the least amount of pointless connections in mind. If a flight is only like $25 more than the cheapest one to be on a more convenient flight or a better airline, I'm definitely going for that. And on long international flights I'd be willing to pay up to $100 more to be on a top international carrier over a mediocre domestic one. The airline I have the most miles on currently is AA with just over 23,000, but I'm about to get over 30,000 miles on United very soon.

I saw both of these movies recently and liked them both better than Birdman. Whiplash was a lot more entertaining than what would be expected of it based on its description. But if I were giving the Best Picture Oscar, I'd probably give it to the not-nominated Interstellar.

Even with a lineup that doesn't hold a candle to last year, there were some pretty good performances at Coachella broadcast on XM Radio and AXS TV this weekend.

I didn't think Twisted Collossus would be open before I went to Japan in June based on what I heard at the park when I was there a couple of weeks ago, but now that the track is complete there's a chance it might. Now they just need to run each train on the track 400 times (based on what an employee told me at the park). Last year there was WCB Knotts and WCB SFMM and there werent very many perks for SFMM compared to KBF, so they may have dropped SFMM this year or they may just still be working on it. Yeah, that was my fear...I know there were issues for the 2013 WCB and many here griped how it was quite inferior to Knotts. Was afraid maaaaaaybe SFMM would not be part of it. Thankfully my fears seem to be unfounded: Thanks GCI Wooden for the info! I will find a way to squeeze this trip in during the small breaks between my semesters! The SFMM day of WCB should be announced soon. If you're able to make it out here this year you should do the Knott's day of WCB too, especially if you've never been there before.

There is a new Vacation Movie Coming Out
805Andrew replied to John Peck's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree that if the filmmakers would have waited another year they could have used Twisted Collossus and that would have made a statement about how Walley World has changed a lot over the years. As far as my Vacation movie rankings go: Christmas Vacation > Vacation > European Vacation > Vegas Vacation. Luckily I haven't see Christmas Vacation 2. If it doesn't have Clark Griswold (or at least one of the Griswolds) it's not a Vacation movie to me. -
Cedar Fair Rankings
805Andrew replied to Snowyowl1028's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only been to three Cedar Fair parks so I'll rank them as follows: 1. Knott's Berry Farm 2. Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom 3. California's Great America The only reason I rank Dorney higher than CGA is because of the included water park, without the included water parks I would rank CGA higher than Dorney. -
A TPR Japan 2013 Trip Report
805Andrew replied to RoCo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When you started this trip report, I was uncertain when my first trip to Japan would be and had no proper plans to visit. Now I am two months away exactly to getting on a plane and heading to Japan for the first time ever. Was your trip report the turning point that made me decide okay now's the time to plan a visit? I'll let you decide, but I'm so excited to be going soon. -
How to make a mega trip cheaper?
805Andrew replied to Tanks4me05's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would book some of the hotels on Hotels.com or Hotwire. Hotels.com will give you the 11th night free ( average price of 10 previous nights off 11th night's price). Hotwire will list the price, star level, amenities, percentage of positive reviews, and area but not the hotel name until you book. Every time I've booked 3.5 star hotel or above I've gotten a really nice hotel for a 2-3 star price. Priceline can also be good if you use the name your own price tool for a 3 star or above hotel. You pick the star level, amenities you want, and name your own price, but you don't know the exact hotel until they accept your offer and book it. Once I got a Courtyard Marriott two blocks from Knotts Berry Farm for $60 a night for example. I definitely wouldn't limit yourself to the hotels you selected. If you do end up staying at several Super 8s and book through them directly, I would sign up for Wyndham Rewards which will get points for staying at their properties. As far as your park line up goes, I would add Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, TX (which is near San Antonio) and drop one of the lesser parks (maybe Frontier City) unless you dislike water parks. Also you probably won't need Fast Lane at all of the parks, probably just the busier ones (maybe not at Worlds of Fun). -

And the funkiest cable-car ride I've ever seen! I thought that was a weird looking shuttle coaster until I saw the video for the cable car ride. Now that takes the cake! -

Tonight I tried Rogue Sriracha Hot Stout Beer from Newport, OR. The Sriracha flavor is subtle and pairs well with warm foods. It was pretty good actually. #SrirachaStout

Bullet has a unique layout. How would you compare it to standard shuttle loopers like Montezooma's Revenge?
