West Coast Bash 2015!
805Andrew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wonder how many times I can marathon ride this?! Two years ago a guy I talked to did 50 rides on Xcelerator. I'm guessing that's the number to beat. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Superman Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom three times in a row right before park closing last Friday. Awesome ride! -
Ryan (that's me) and Laura go to Japan
805Andrew replied to Mrlittle's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ahh, this Japan TR is bringing me back. What an awesome trip that was. It almost seems like a dream now. It's interesting seeing all the different TRs and perspectives of the same trip I went on, especially as everyone did different things on the free days. -

For a moment I thought you were talking about me being on the wrong side when I was clearly on the left side like everyone else and then I realize the other Andrew way down below was on the right side of the escalator. Great TR so far by the way. I'll have to do my own Japan TR one of these days. In the meantime this brings me back. -
No they haven't. I went on a moderately busy day in May and there was one train running with one train in the shed and the other just parked in the other loading station. Same thing when I went during Spring Break in April, when it was even busier. I don't think I've seen Tatsu use both loading stations in a couple of years at least. I'm glad they are using both stations again and hopefully they will have three trains for WCB.

Most Anticipated Coasters For 2016

I'll wait until late August or September when most of the announcements are made. I'm hoping the RMC Roar rumor is true. -
Sega Open New Joypolis In Qingdao

Glad to hear that Sega is opening another Joypolis. The one in Tokyo was a lot of fun. I wish we had Sega Joypolis here in the states. -
West Coast Bash 2015!

Looking forward to doing both days of WCB this year. Can't pass up Twisted Colossus ERT and whatever the Iron Reef Challenge will be. Glad I bought my tickets on Wednesday so I don't have to worry about it selling out. -
Robb & Elissa in Japan - 2015!
805Andrew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I loved the free day options on this trip. It was so hard to decide what to do since there were so many things to see and do and I would have had a great time no matter what I chose, but I stand by my choice to go see Nagasaki, which was very interesting. The Sanrio park and the monkey island looked pretty cool too and I'm glad to see pictures of it. I'd probably do a trip to Beppu and some of its attractions if I'm in Kyushu again. -
Photo TR: Pilgrimage To The Point
805Andrew replied to boldikus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great TR! One of these years I'll make my pilgrimage to the Point, but this year I'll have to settle for Japan. I know, hardly a trade off. It looks like you did Cedar Point the right way, and did a good job of squeezing in Kennywood in too. Cedar Point looks awesome, and not just the park, but also the whole resort property. Kennywood looks really cool too. Nice job! -
West Coast Bash 2015!

Xcelerator is definitely worth it, especially for someone who has I think done KK and TTD, you'll love it. You launch from right in the station and then do more than just go up and down like most of the other accelerator coasters. Indeed I have and they're not really worth it, though I have Stormrunner for my accelerator needs I'll surely cave, I can't resist new creds and parks Montezooma's Revenge and Pony Express also launch you out of the station, so you have three launch coasters at Knott's, and two of those three launches are intense. -
West Coast Bash 2015!

You should do the Knott's day if you are already coming down for Magic Mountain, especially if you have never been to Knotts before. There's plenty to do for a first timer. Xcelerator is like a compact Kingda Ka with shorter lines (and no lines during ERT) and Montezooma's Revenge is a really fun classic launched shuttle looper. Timber Mountain Log Ride is also a really great themed log flume, second to only Splash Mountain. Also the lunch included is really good and filling for a theme park with Knott's Fried Chicken and a bunch of sides and desserts (including boysenberry pie). There might also be TPR Quest at lunch which is really fun. -
I was going to get a Dole Whip on Wednesday just after 7PM and the Dole Whip station at Food ETC was already closed. I had to settle for Mango Pineapple Dippin' Dots (once I found a location selling it that was actually open) which was pretty good. On another note, the Dippin' Dots guy said that Revolution would get a makeover next year. I haven't heard the noises, and I rode Twisted Colossus twice on Wednesday. Maybe I was just too busy enjoying the ride to notice. Park opens Saturday at 10am and its bonus ERT time for season passholers starting at 9am early entrance. It was 95 degrees out in Valencia on Friday so start getting hydrated now. It will most likely be EWT (Exclusive Wait Time), like it was on Wednesday. The park should call it Early Access instead of ERT, so they aren't lying. Still, its worth getting there early so you're in line before the masses arrive. Once you get off the ride, if the posted wait time is 90 min or less, get back in line if you want to ride again. The line will probably only get longer (especially on a Saturday). I'm glad I got back in line on Wednesday (the posted wait time was 90 min but the wait was about 60 min since they were running all three trains) after my morning ride as later in the afternoon the ride was having technical difficulties and was closed when I came back to the entrance after 7PM.

Apocalypse and Tatsu both had longer waits then Twisted Colossus at 90 min each. We skipped Apocalypse but waited it out on Tatsu because my friend had never been on it before. Riddlers Revenge had about as long a wait as TC. All three of these were only running one train. X2 surprisingly only had 15 min waits w/ two trains running so we rode twice. We waited about 30 min for Yolo and are about to board. Nice weather at the park today. It was hotter when I came here in early April, lol.

My second ride on TC was even better than my first ride! 8th row, left side. My first ride was in the 11th row, right side. Green side duels both times. Definitely a top three ride for me! So far I've been on two rides on a RMC, two Intamin rides, and two B&M rides. In line for third B&M which has one train running, but my friend wanted to ride it so we're waiting it out.

Twisted Colossus was amazing! The airtime moments aren't as intense as El Toro or Skyrush but all the elements are really fun, especially the Top Gun stall. I'm not sure it's my #1 (I'll have to ride it again and ride X2 today) but it's definitely in my top 5. We missed the duel on the blue side but got it on green side. All the trains seem to be getting at least one duel - the train we dueled with got lucky and got to duel both sides. We waited about an hour during passholder ERT for our first ride, then rode Scream really quick (station wait), and got in line for TC again with 90 min posted wait. They were now handing out tickets in line to prevent line cutting. Line seems to be moving a lot quicker now that three trains are running.
