  1. Ah, yes--the Ferris wheel that was used in Director Carol Reed's The Third Man. That makes it twice the classic. I've wanted to visit this park ever since I saw the movie when I was in college. I like it when parks "theme up" their old scenic railway rides, too. The tunnels, mountains, and little village really add something to it.
  2. ^^Shades of Walygator and Anaconda back in 2008--was that the first time a TPR group ever voted to skip an ERT session?
  3. Bullet was fun, if a bit shaky in parts (love the airtime over the first hill). Knight Valley's Wood Coaster was one of the better GCIs I've ridden.
  4. OK, that makes sense to me, too--a "fun house" with "haunt" elements.
  5. Was there a particular reason why they had to change the name to "Haunted Fun House," rather than just "Haunted House"?
  6. I thought it was one of the better GCIs (there's a surprising amount of airtime). The setting really helps, too. That being said, Knight Valley is, well, a rather odd park.
  7. It is good to see one of these old Schwarzkopf rides getting a new lease on life--lots of fun that fits in a small footprint.
  8. ^^Florida's Little Mermaid has a moch nicer setting than California's, too. The building at DCA is very nice and goes well with the Paradise Pier area, but I like that Disney has given the ride a much grander facade in Florida's Fantasyland.
  9. Very nice work here and with the new circus area in Fantasyland. It's good to see this section of the park getting such a great upgrade, and I'm looking forward to checking it out for myself (particularly the new coaster and Be Our Guest restaurant).
  10. ^I agree with this, too. The Disney Hollywood Studios photo was so "enhanced" that I couldn't identify the place until I read the caption (and I've been there quite a few times).
  11. I'm looking forward to all the TPR updates from there, too.
  12. ^Still, it would've fun to see a Boomerang being crushed by an old Intamin ride.
  13. They've done knock offs of Mauer-Sohne spinning mouse coasters Arrow loop screws, and even "Spider-man" type rides, too.
  14. I agree--the whole Fantasyland makeover is looking great so far. This was long overdue.
  15. I like Eurofighters too, but there is a bit of "Jeckyl and Hyde" in them.
  16. ^I felt the same way after seeing the "crawl through a tunnel" scene in The Descent.
  17. The price ($30 million) doesn't seem that out of line for a major ride. (I remember hearing that Verbolten at BGW cost more than that.) I think you're right that the terrain is probably a big factor in the price.
  18. ^Hey, three of the parks we visited in China offered Yogi Bear 4D movies. Maybe Yogi and Boo-Boo are poised for a big comeback.
  19. I think the shot of the Haunted Mansion busts is the best of the bunch.
  20. I agree! All tower rides need to go this way! Definitely--let 'em go out Texas style, in a blaze of glory! Yee haw!
  21. Late in the day, Busch Gardens Williamsburg has been known to allow rerides on Apollo's Chariot, if no one is waiting for your row.
  22. This one . . . at Universal Orlando.
  23. I noticed that shooting ride while we were rushing from coaster to coaster, but thought it was closed.
