Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

I like the name, but I'd rather it have been called Skyhawk. I guess they want to keep that exclusive to CP's S&S swing. -

^ Thanks as I honestly didn't know the correct version of that phrase. One of those things where I was never corrected on it so I just kept using it wrong. -
There is still Rebel Yell at Kings Dominion and Racer at Kings Island. I'm not happy about them removing Rolling Thunder, but it is hardly the end of the world. In fact, if we are going to start speculating this early it could mean a new, possibly RMC Goliath-type coaster for 2015. They will do something with that plot of land I'm sure.

^ From what I understand the one at Knott's is safe and able to run for all intensive purposes, and has the new evac system on site. But CAL/OSHA is being a little too cautious and not letting them reopen. This combined with the fact that they are now free to make modifications after they disassemble Windseeker probably will make it safer than the other installations. I hope it's Knott's, moving it out of California is what's best for the ride. -

I'm actually kind of hoping this is Knott's Windseeker for Knott's sake. That way they can just be done with it and it doesn't have to stand SBNO any longer. -

^ The loop was steel I believe. And I don't think it collapsed, at least not in the traditional sense. Something did happen in 2006 causing the train to stop abruptly after the loop and the loop was then removed. -
For those concerned about length (hehe), get over it. It's not the length of the layout, but what it throws at you. Having now ridden outlaw run I can tell you that this ride will feel a lot longer riding it in person than it does in the POV. Outlaw Run just throws everything it can at you from beginning to end and this looks like it will do the same thing. Once you go down that drop all perception of time will drift away and you will just enjoy the ride. Doug "it's long enough" Mandell

^ Darien Lake is also my home park. However, I think that most of the criticism is justified. Compared to many other parks in the country Darien Lake is pretty lacking. I for one am still unhappy with the current state the park is in, but I do see improvement. If Cuda Falls gets the axe, but they do decide to keep that area of land part of the water park I think they should install a slide complex similar to what Dorney is getting for 2014. They both are similar as Dorney's is also built on a hill and I think that it would be a great addition to the park.

Knoebels Discussion Thread

^Thanks. Yeah I'm going to try to get a few people together so company shouldn't be an issue. I was thinking about hitting up Dorney on Sunday but I'm considering that Sunday wristband option. Thanks! -

I could use some opinions. Is Phunfest worth going to? I'm thinking about going and it would be my first time to Knoebels. -

That photo seems to fit the bill quite nicely. I think the "interactive" part that makes this different is that instead of shooting at stationary targets you would be shooting at a screen projecting a 3D image and that the characters on screen react when you shoot them, or shoot at them (note that the skeleton at the bottom of the screen is bursting into flames as it gets shot). That combined with how the theming in the concept art looks like the inside of a mountain makes this become even more plausible. -
Texas/Midwest 2013 Tour Mini-Updates!

If you know the secret to getting a tolerable ride on Hades please share! Coming home somebody asked me how the barrel roll was and I honestly couldn't tell them; because the new section gave me just enough time to pull myself together in between ass beatings, but not enough time to actually enjoy the ride. This tour gave me my new #1, and then there is Hades 360 taking dead last in my rankings. -

Watching you twerk would probably be more enjoyable than whatever that train wreck was at the VMAs.
